  15. BIRTH DATE: 21 March
  16. AGE: 19
  17. ETHNICITY: Malaysian/American
  18. BIRTHPLACE: Seattle, Washington.
  19. HEIGHT: 165cm
  20. WEIGHT: 52kgs
  21.
  22. ✤ ANGEL OF MUSIC
  23. RELIGION: Christian: due to her being born into a family which practices it: but personally doesn’t believe in any kind of higher power. Afraid to tell anyone, so keeps it to herself and practices Christianity at home, to keep her parents happy and oblivious.
  24. MORAL STANDPOINT: She would be willing to sacrifice something for the greater good, but does not necessarily believe that ‘the end justifies the means’. She wants to be seen as a good person so would do something against her own morals for the greater good.
  25. MOTIVATION: Her younger brother, and her own desire to show her parents that she’s worth something, even if they never thought she was.
  26. BREAKING POINT: Her fear of her future; she has no plans, no support, and doesn’t know what she wants to do. Along with her fear of her family's views towards her and her personal beliefs.
  27.
  28. ✤ PRIMA DONNA
  29. AMBITIONS: She doesn’t know, and it terrifies her. She’d previously wanted to train to be a teacher, but her poor performance on her finals exams caused her to have to rethink everything. She’s waiting a year before she considers applying for a community college; right now, she just wants to make sure that the production runs smoothly.
  30. ⇢ ADDITIONAL: Her parents are severely disappointed in her academic choices and the fact that instead of trying to study to get into a good, respectable school in the next academic year, she's wasting her time with the local theatre club; her high school one was bad enough, in their eyes.
  31. ACHIEVEMENTS: Second place two years running in the junior national cross country competition.
  32. COURSE: N/A
  33. THEATER BACKGROUND: Stagehand and backstage experience for her high school productions. Assistant student director for Alice in Wonderland in her senior year.
  34. ⇢ EXPERIENCE: 10 months

  36. ✤ POINT OF NO RETURN
  37. PERSONALITY: A constant anxious mess, frazzled and stretched thin, Suriya is not what you’d call ‘put together’. Her skittish nature is a result of her upbringing and academic pressure, but that front to her hides immensely supportive and loyal traits, which keep her motivated and a favorite amongst others. She’s very good with people, as despite her nervous nature and sensitivities, she’s not a complete introvert. She’s witty and clever with her words, when she wants to be, but can occasionally edge into darker jokes about her almost nonexistent family life and anxieties. She’s a very good negotiator - she manages to tip the scales by manipulating other people's emotions, and playing on their sympathies and heartstrings; she’s learned enough from her parents to put it into practice. She will guilt trip you if you mess up onstage, but it’s all in good fun, and most of the time doesn’t actually have a problem. Her inferiority complex comes into play mainly when she’s alone, and contemplating what her life could have been like had she not messed up so badly, and is connected to her problems with managing major stress and the pressures in her to succeed in whatever she does. However, despite her shortcomings, she has a huge heart and is open-minded to anything and everyone. She’s very self-dependent and mature, and is able to adapt to whatever is thrown her way (not without a lot of stress and maybe a panic attack, but she gets her stuff done). Her mindset is very realistic, rather than pessimistic, and she tries not to do anything unless she believes that the decision is justified and that she believes in what she’s doing wholeheartedly. Her main driving force is her desire to prove herself as worth something to someone, anyone, and especially her parents. A notorious over worker, you’ll be hard-pressed to find her working on anything other than whatever is the highest priority, and she only lets herself rest when she has nothing else impending on her life. She’s desperate for some form of recognition and she loves being praised (though she won’t show it outwardly), due to the fact that she was severely deprived of support and praise in other parts of her life apart from her athletic skills.
  38. ⇢LIKES:
  39. - The feeling of your lungs burning, when you can’t get air into them but you know that it’s good, that you’re running as fast as you can and that you’re doing all that you can to succeed.
  40. - Being told that someone is proud of you, when you have your effort recognized and you’re acknowledged for the work that you’ve done. Being praised and knowing that you deserve
  41. - Summer in the city; when the cicadas are so loud that they’re drowning out the noises of traffic, and the sidewalk is wavy with heat.
  42. - She really really likes snakes and other reptiles. Has a pet ball python called Elias, who has a bad habit (or talent) of wedging himself into her bookcases and escaping from his cage.
  43. - The feeling of being detached from what’s happening onstage, but yet connected to the rest of what’s happening in the theatre; the undercurrent of the audience’s murmuring, that one flickering lightbulb, the stagehands waiting in the wings. The knowledge that everything, everyone in this room is connected by one story.
  44. - The quiet comfort of seeing your hands form stories and sentences, the pride you feel when you get a response in return, reading the others hands. The privacy you have, in knowing that this is something only you can understand, a sentence only you are seeing and hearing.
  45. - Falling asleep in a place you know is safe, when it’s dark and warm and you’re leaned up against a wall with your work in piles around you, finished, finally. Hearing the muffled sounds of others through the door and knowing that you’ll wake up in the same spot in the morning.
  46. - Cake is the love of her life; she will not be sharing with you. It doesn’t matter what kind of cake it is; she loves it, any and all.
  47. ⇢DISLIKES:
  48. - The flipside of your lungs burning and not being able to breathe. When you feel like you’re drowning and your body is filled with both lead and cotton at the same time. When you’re more terrified than you’ve ever been in your life, and you can’t get yourself to calm down.
  49. - Really loud noises; take for example, doors slamming, car horns honking, jumpscare noises, when everything is too quiet and all you can hear is your heart pumping in your ears and the static in your head.
  50. -Her habit of misplacing her car keys and her planner. She’ll find them and then immediately lose them again, and it annoys her to no ends.
  51. - The knowledge of failure when you know you could have done something, the realization that something is your fault and that it’s going to take a lot to fix it.
  52. - The dentist. She genuinely hates peoples hands going near her mouth, and the fact that she got quite a few fillings when she was younger does not help this fact. She avoids it as much as possible, and is lucky that her teeth are healthy and never needed any other treatment.
  53. - The feeling of never being good enough; that there will always be someone ahead of you, that you will never be able to catch up to them. The knowledge that you’ve let people down, and that you’ve failed both them and yourself.
  54. - Her parent's attitude towards her and her brother since they aren’t like their sister; that they aren’t the perfect children that their parents wanted; one deaf, one just plain not good enough. She resents them (and her sister) for the unnecessary standards they expected her and her brother to live up to.
  55. - Sumiya hates winter with a capital H. She doesn’t like being wet and cold, and she gets frustrated when her fingers are numb and uncooperative. She runs at a relatively cool temperature as well, so she gets cold easily, and is always shivering in winter.
  56. -Having to ask for help and/or assistance. She feels like having to ask for help makes her less dependent, and although she’s given up on the idea of ever catching up to her sister, she still subconsciously tries to live up to her expectations. It’s one of the reasons why she doesn’t tell anyone about her panic attacks and her stress over schoolwork and her theatre stuff.
  57. ⇢HOBBIES:
  58. - Trying to learn French (a la Les Miserables) but is struggling with the fact she can never remember the correct sentence structures.
  59. - Video games; mainly with her brother. Her favorite is Journey, but she’s quite good at Mario Kart.
  60. - Reading fantasy and historical novels. She also really likes Shakespeare; the storylines are fun, and they’re very dramatic; even if she was never good at decoding them for school, she enjoys them as they are.
  61. - Even though she can’t run competitively anymore, she does go jogging sometimes, in the really early mornings when the world is only just waking up, and the skies are beginning to lighten.
  62. ⇢HABITS:
  63. - Fiddles with the hems of her clothing when she’s anxious, bored, or uncomfortable.
  64. - Bites her nails; the edges are always ragged, and they never grow past the tips of her fingers.
  65. - Dog ears the pages of her books, usually on pages that have a scene that she loves, a quote, or just to mark where she is. She won’t do it to library books, however.
  66. -Writes down notes and reminders on the back of her hand and on her arm, and forgets to wash it off.
  67. ⇢TRIVIA:
  68. - Wears strapping on her ankles most days, in order to keep her ankles from twisting or the tendons getting torn again.
  69. - Always has loose change in her pockets; good for vending machines.
  70. - Touch starved; loves hugs and other forms of physical interaction.
  71. ⇢ TALENTS:
  72. - She’s fluent in American Sign Language.
  73. - Makes the most perfect scones you’ll ever eat; they go best with jam and butter.
  74. ⇢ REQUIREMENT: Her older sister, Adilah, was the favorite child, and no wonder. Academic and extracurricular overachiever, blessed with looks from the heavens and overall the perfect daughter, she set expectations for her future siblings much too high. Suriya, on the other hand, was never as gifted as her sister. Average in school, a failure in math, and a skittish, nervous girl, she couldn’t seem to catch up to her sister's achievements, no matter how hard she tried. Her one strength was her athletic abilities; she was a talented runner, especially in cross country courses. But when she injured her ankles at 14, that one thing that she could hold above her sister was flushed down the drain, and her parents went back to comparing the two of them. From there she spiraled and accepted the fact that she could never live up to the expectations that were placed on her by her family. However, she still wants to show them that she’s worth something, even if it’s not related to what they expected of her.
  75. ⇢ SPECIAL: She panics under pressure, and her life has been an overarching story of pressure; from her parents, from her studies, from her theatre activities. She’s naturally nervous and sensitive, so the pressure and stress tend to build up for her, and she eventually hits a wall, and triggers a panic attack. She hasn’t told anyone about them though, so to her they seem like a dirty little secret, and she’s ashamed of the fact that she can’t handle stress as well as she should be able to.
  76. ✤ MUSIC OF THE NIGHT
  77. FAMILY:
  78. Irdina Lowry; Mother. 3/10 closeness. NOTES: Born and raised in Malaysia. Personal assistant to a magazine editor.
  79. Marco Lowry; Father. 6/10 closeness. NOTES: General Practitioner.
  80. Adilah Lowry; Older sister-23. 3/10 closeness. NOTES: The obvious favorite child; studying business at university currently.
  81. Rylan Lowry; Younger brother-14. 9/10 closeness. NOTES: Legally deaf.
  82. ⇢ BACKGROUND: Suriya was born as the second child in her family, four years younger than her older sister Adilah, and even at that age, under pressure to succeed; not just to live up to her families standards, but to also be able to stand equal to her sister, in all of her glory. When she was five, her brother, Rylan, was born deaf, and from then on the two were united against the world as the opposite of her parents views of perfect children; she learned sign language at a young age along with her parents and sister, but ended up being the one to use it the most, as the two grew up very close and as best friends. The pressure of the expectations placed on her was severe, especially from the ages of eight and up, and even as a child she was anxious and exhausted from trying to catch up to her sister and the goals placed there for her to grab. Her one talent was her athletic abilities; she began running competitively at age 10, beginning at regional competitions and then moving up to national level junior competitions, especially in the cross country. This was her one ‘thing’ that her parents saw value in, and praised her for; it was the one thing where she was seen as an achiever and meeting expectations. However, when she was 14, when running a race, she had an accident in which she tore the tendons in both of her ankles, resulting in the end of her athletic career and the appreciation of her parents. She hated herself for ruining the one thing her parents took pride in her life, and was frustrated with the fact that she knew that she’d never be able to have her parents look at her the same way that they did with Adilah. She gave herself a month to mope; no more no less; before resuming her studies; miserable as they may be, she at least had friends and support, and, dragged by a few others, ended up joining her high school’s drama club as a backstage worker. It was just a hobby, no more, no less, but she found herself actually enjoying something, for the first time, as it came without the pressure of her family and her own personal expectations. She mainly worked as a stagehand and assisted in the overall running of the show, but was made the assistant student director in her senior year, for the production of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. However, good things apparently can’t last forever for Sumiya, and the stress and workload piled up on her towards the end of her year. Panic overrode her mind, and she ended up bombing her finals exams; not bad enough to fail, but not at all good in terms of her personal standards and visible in her parent's reactions to her final grades. With the grades that she did have, she could have potentially snuck into a community college, but decided not to, and took a break year (or two). She joined the local theatre club when they advertised signups, and ended up being cast as the director of the ongoing production. She’s under a lot of stress, but the leap in support has improved her skills in her problem solving, and it doesn’t hurt that there’s a cute boy willing to help her out and keep her sane with the workload she’s been handed.

  90. ✤ ALL I ASK OF YOU
  91. MEMBER: Jeon Jungkook
  92. BACKUP MEMBER: Park Jimin
  93. SEXUALITY: Heterosexual
  94. NATURE OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP: Presumed one-sided crush from Suriya’s side.
  95. PET NAMES: Jungkook-Suriya : Suri, Uri. Suriya-Jungkook : Kook, 'Teenage angst'
  96. DESCRIPTION: Suriya is WHIPPED. As some of the youngest two in the club, and being the same age when Jungkook joined, they've stuck together since the first day they met, and they're late night buddies, both prone to overworking, but at the same time able to tell the other to take a break and a breath. Their first interaction involved the copious use of gaming language and a nervous, frazzled but amused Suriya, and kickstarted their friendship; even if at first it was only because they needed to work together in the club. They began their relationship as strictly friends, due to their complementary personalities; Jungkook's confidence and self-assurance sets off Suriya's nervous nature and sensitivity. They tend to stick around even when people have gone home, though they were fairly awkward around each other at first, due to both of them not quite knowing how to approach each other. However, as they continued to see each other almost daily, they began to become much more comfortable around each other, and Suriya accidentally bringing Elias along to practice one day gave them an opportunity and topic starter to begin to talk more freely to each other. They have an ongoing rivalry over who can memorize scripts the fastest; Jungkook because of his swing roles, Suriya because of her role as the director; it's currently 2;1 to Jungkook, and he doesn't let her live it down. As they got to know each other more they became much more comfortable with each other, and their relationship began to head into emotional and tangible support, with the two becoming much closer and encouraging, and their friendship has given Suriya the chance to begin to come to terms with her inferiority complex, thanks to his continuous rebuttal of any kind of self-deprecating comment from her, offhand or otherwise. It hits her about 4 months into knowing him in the middle of their conversation. They're tucked up in the audience seats, going over scripts, and it hits her square in the fact that she's fallen for the boy beside her, and it freaks her out; since when has love of any kind (familial, interests, hell, even the few crushes she had in middle school) ever gone well for her? She keeps it quiet, not wanting to admit it, for fear of burdening him with herself, and is happy to just chill with her crush at the moment, even if it's tearing her apart on the insides and the stress levels are rising.
