Good evening. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Jacob, Ross’s older brother. I just want to say a few words and then I’ll let you get back to the reception. Growing up with Ross was an adventure. We didn’t always see eye to eye. We fought. We fought more. There were times that things were tough between us, but we always pushed through to end in a better place than we started. No matter how rough things got, we were always brothers, and we always put in the work to build that relationship. That’s the building blocks of any successful relationship, and any successful family.

To Ross, you must be on cloud nine right now, and you don’t need me to tell you how special this is, but I’m going to do it anyway. I’m so happy that you’re making this step into the next stage of your life.

To Hailey, I’m glad you and Ross found each other, and I’m glad you’re joining our family. I’ve never had a sister before today, but I can’t think of anyone better to be the first.

For both of you, my hope is that you always believe your relationship is worth the work. That you’ll always fight to end every rough patch better than you started. And I hope that you’ll find as much joy in every moment from now on as you do in this moment. I hope that you are able to recognize every moment you have together, the good and the bad times, as the precious, priceless time it is.
