Dear  Mr.Neptun,


	As you likely know, being a Drum Major in the Panther Marching Band has long been a dream of mine. Since my brother (alongside Doug)First began leading the band through parades and shows it has been my desire to follow in his footsteps. I feel that I am the best choice for Drum Major for the Panther Marching Band's 2010-2012 seasons. I have had experience conducting for the Mountain View Middle School marching band in 2008 and have learned a great deal about conducting and leading from my brother. Although he was in the past the Drum Major for the PMB I would like to individualize myself, and in no way intend to fall back on him for the reasoning of my qualifications, however he has taught me much about the necessities and qualities of a good conductor. His teachings of course were based off of opinion and as such were taken with a grain of salt. My schedule for extra curricular activities is nearly limitless in it's flexibility; this will allow me to be available for all meetings/rehearsals etc. that will be required by the position. I can be a stern leader when required, however not in a manner attune to that of a dictator. I full acknowledge the responsibilities that would come with this level of student leadership, and the ease of which such powers can be abused, but will do everything in my power to not abuse them. I have a strong internal metronome, and no trouble at all keeping steady rhythm. Along with being able to keep steady time I am mentally familiar with many common tempos found in music; particularly in marching music.
	Taking the qualifications I have listed into consideration I feel that I could help make next seasons production of Wild Nights a fun and successful experience for the band, as well as the following seasons show. I hope that you will agree with me on what I have listed and allow me to adorn the white gloves.
