  1. **Currently busy with exams, so updates and corrections can take a little while, sorry!**
  2. >The scholars in the pearly cities spoke a lot of virtue, of what made a man righteous.
  3. >Yet, the only thing that ruly matters at the end of the day is whether your stomach is full or not.
  4. >You never knew your family, never got anything for free. From the day on that you could really understand what people were saying they were using your innocent appearance to swindle others.
  5. >The only thing that matters is whether or not you get paid for it and can survive.
  6. >Gerbrandt, the old bastard, raised you to be a master of stealth. To always be unseen, in daylight or under the cover of night. In crowds and in barren solitude.
  7. >Risks always had to be taken, but the bastard did teach you to not take unnecessary risks.
  8. >Why then did you take on this task? Why did you agree upon slaying one of the most powerful creatures this world has ever seen?
  9. >Why did people dig down deep into the earth, no matter how many were crushed beneath the mountains?
  10. >Money, why else?
  11. >There might be something else in it too, besides the various rewards.
  12. >If you succeeded, you'd go down the history books as a Dragon Slayer. Your name would be honored. You'd never be sneaking through the dung-crusted streets for a few measly coins.
  13. >Just a few more days, a quick, well-placed thrust of your dagger while the Dragon slept and that was all.
  14. >Your trusty, musty mule wasn't particularly fast, but he made the trip a lot easier as long as he wasn't refusing to walk.
  15. >Almost all of your money that you had saved and what the bastard has saved up went into buying the mythril dagger.
  16. >What little remained went into supplies and the stubborn old animal
  17. >If you failed, you'd be left with no supplies, an animal that would probably refuse to go on any further and a dagger that no-one would consider to be the real deal without the Regal Smith's Seal.
  18. >The road became less and less traveled as it split off into the various roads that led to squalid villages
  19. >*two days later*
  20. >It started raising a day ago and hasn't stopped since
  21. >The sky is perpetually grim
  22. >You reached the forest surrounded the mountain, atop of which lies your goal
  23. >The forest was getting more and more dense
  24. >You were getting into monster territory, alright.
  25. >You got off the decrepit road and started looking for a place to sleep, cover from the continuous rain
  26. >finding a seemingly abandoned animal burrow, you pull out your dagger
  27. >You considered giving it a name, but Destiny seemed a weak name and Damocles was far worse, considering you weren't planning on exacting any justice with it
  28. >Finding the burrow abandoned, you tied up your mule to a nearby tree and crawled inside
  29. >Soaking wet and cold to the bone, you almost prayed for some relief of this cold
  30. >But praying hasn't done you much good in the past, so why would it start now
  31. >Hoping you would survive the night unscathed, you closed your eyes and eventually slipped into an uncomfortable slumber
  32. >An oppressive dark
  33. >Vaguely, you found yourself standing in a hallway
  34. >It could've gone on forever for what little you could see
  35. >There was something in front of you
  36. >Something ungodly. A being whose blows were like fired cannonballs
  37. >How could you be this foolish? Why were you here?
  38. >Too late. One of it's claws reaches out from the unyielding dark and rends you asunder
  39. >You wake up with a start only to headbutt the ceiling of the burrow at full force
  40. >Face covered in dirt, still cold and heart beating madly, you crawled out of the burrow, reciting every curse you had ever heard
  41. >Finding a puddle of water, you rid your face of the dirt and are quickly reminding of the apparition from the dream
  42. >Dreams had come true before. This one time you dreamt of a precious stash, hidden away in a house
  43. >During one burglarly job, you recognized the house and found it
  44. >The Bastard took most of the money, as he always did. But for a little while the food he gave you was just a little less bad.
  45. >But this wasn't a dream
  46. >This was a nightmare
  47. >Turn back? To what? With what? How?
  48. >There was no going back.
  49. >Succeed, or die.
  50. >If the Dragon did find you, if the Dragon did kill you, at least it would be fast.
  51. >If the Bastard got his crooked claws on you, you'd be dying over the course of at least four days, hoping for death every single second.
  52. >No going back.
  53. >Your determination was quickly damaged as the old mule was nowhere to be seen
  54. >So where the supplies it carried
  55. >You should've removed it all from its back before going to sleep. Why didn't you?
  56. >The hunger, the cold, the solitude, the nerves....
  57. >Your sanity had to hold out until you succeeded.
  58. >It had to hold out until you got your reward.
  59. >You briefly wondered if the Dragon had any food in its fortress
  60. >Then you remembered that if it had any meat, it would probably be human.
  61. >Through the forest, you could never see the fortress until the trees thinned, halfway up the mountain
  62. >Had your stomach permitted it, you would've admired its magnificence
  63. >Windows and murderholes beyond count
  64. >Towers that tore the clouds asunder
  65. >The fortress was practically a mountain on its own
  66. >And you'll enter it soon enough.
  67. >The train wasn't going down as powerfully as a day ago but it was more than enough to make you watch your step and shake from the cold
  68. >the ascend was slower than you had hoped
  69. >You'd have to reach the fortress unseen, or you'd be burned to a crisp before you realized you had been spotted
  70. >When you finally did reach the entrance, the enormity of it all was staggering
  71. >The height of the gate arch seemed designed to allow titans to freely come and go
  72. >No time for this. If you didn't reach the Dragon soon, you wouldn't have the strength to silently approach it, let alone strike de coup de grace.
  73. >The halls were desolate
  74. >The size of them only added to the effect
  75. >Banners, torn and rotten hung from the walls and the shadowy ceilings
  76. >You turned left into a smaller hallway
  77. >Most people would't have been able to see a thing in this void, but your eyes had been trained since you were young
  78. >Feeling a bit less vulnerable, you started to discard your wet clothes
  79. >The wet flopping noises of your torn boots was going to alert the creature from a mile away
  80. >As you got to your undergarments, you hesitated.
  81. >Not very heroic, was it? The naked assassin sneaking up on the monster before striking?
  82. >But then the actual Dragon Slayers out there were probably not entirely honest about their stories either...
  83. >Pride is nice, but let's try and survive this.
  84. >Discarding your undergarments, you take use your dagger to silently remove a banner from the walls
  85. >it felt cold, but dry enough. You wrapped the banner around you and pressed on into the dark
  86. >the familiar, oppressing dark...
  87. >No point in hesitating
  88. >No point in going back
  89. >Thread on.
  90. >...
  91. >the Apparition didn't come.
  92. >You were still alive.
  93. >Your breathing was slow and deliberate
  94. >Every soft step felt like it took an eternity
  95. >turning a corner, you saw a glow
  96. >the halls were getting warmer
  97. >It was deep night outside, so light meant only one thing: Life.
  98. >As you got closer you see large pair of sturdy doors, cracked open
  99. >Your breath stops
  100. >Kneeling, you gaze through the crack in the door
  101. >King Midas himself must've been here for the piles of gold you laid your eyes upon
  102. >Each pile was carefully stacked, yet beyond count
  103. >Enchanted by the gold, you're broken out of your reverie by a repetitive sound
  104. >A soft snoring
  105. >You had expected the bellows of hell, but it made no difference
  106. >It was asleep, you were here at the perfect moment, it was time to strike.
  107. >You thanked the heavens as doors didn't make a sound as you opened them far enough to go through
  108. >The room was in perfectly fine condition
  109. >Floors were sparkly clean, as if they had been cleaned a minute ago
  110. >The vast walls were decorated with intricate weapons than shone oddly, but beautifully
  111. >Warmth of the room made you a little lethargic, but your willpower makes you press on
  112. >One well-placed thrust, and that's it.
  113. >You follow the sound down a corridor
  114. >The snoring felt a little familiar, in a way.
  115. >It didn't sound all too inhuman, to be fair
  116. >But that must be the mistake that costed many a man their life.
  117. >You find the room the snoring is coming from
  118. >The door was wide open
  119. >The door wasn't particularly large, a bit larger than a normal door
  120. >How was a Dragon lying in here?
  121. >No matter, this is it.
  122. >You snuck into the room without a sound
  123. >Scanning the room, you only find a somewhat large shape on the bed
  124. >It was hard to tell what it was exactly, but it wasn't human
  125. >Step by step, you get closer to the bed
  126. >You change the grip on your dagger for a downward stab
  127. >It is sleeping softly
  128. >It's without a care in the world, not realizing its life is about to end
  129. >This abomination was going return to the depths from which it came
  130. >Yet you hesitated
  131. >Your eyes were getting used to the dark again
  132. >It was inhuman, this much was true.
  133. >But in some inhuman way, it was fair
  134. >It... She...? Was wearing some fine regal clothes
  135. >What skin wasn't covered by the fabric seemed soft and smooth
  136. >The womanly scent Her body emitted was stimulating your instincts, and not your instinct to fight.
  137. >The claws, however. You recognized them.
  138. >They'll tear you asunder if you do not strike
  139. >Her face was perfectly peaceful
  140. >Her modest chest rose and fell
  141. >Your internal war was broken by a bone-rending screech coming from the doorway
  142. <"MISTRESS!! WAKE UP!!!"
  143. >Before you could make up the shape in the doorway, you were launched against the wall
  144. >You vaguely remember hitting the floor before blackness takes you
  145. >...
  146. >A comfort that you haven't felt in a long time embraces you
  147. >Through the haze of sleep, you feel the fine linen you lie on and the soft blanket that covers you
  148. >For a moment you wondered where you could be, but decided it did not matter for now and fell asleep again
  149. >...
  150. >You wake up some time later
  151. >the back of your head hurts a little, scratching it you find it merely bruised, along with your back
  152. >Your eyes roam around the strange room
  153. >You were lying in a large bed, the type that royalty would use
  154. >The room is similarly decorated as the rest of the fortress, but in much better condition
  155. >That's right, the fortress.
  156. >You found the Dragon
  157. >You failed to kill it, yet you were alive.
  158. >What was that creature that woke her?
  159. >You hear someone fiddling with the door the door swings open
  160. >Speak of the devil...
  161. >A small, monstrous women stands in the doorway, carrying a tray of "food"
  162. <"Ah, you're awake, sir Assassin"
  163. >"..."
  164. <"Did you sleep well?"
  165. >"I suppose, thanks.."
  166. <"I hope you're hungry" it said,
  167. >As it got closer, you could see her features more clearly
  168. >She has strange, floppy ears, similar to what some dogs would have
  169. >Similarly, her legs were paw-like and her lower arms were covered in shiny fur
  170. >As it reached your bed, you couldn't help but glare at this strange creature
  171. >It was rather short, somewhere around 5ft tall
  172. >Going by the slight curve of its chest, the curve of its hips and the the sound of its voice it was a female of its species
  173. >If all that hadn't convinced you, its unmarred face was as feminine as they came
  174. >Had it not been for the ears, you might've thought it was human at first glance
  175. >Putting down the tray next to you, it grabbed a spoon, scooped up some of the soup-like substance
  176. >It blew lightly on the spoons contents before bringing it to your face
  177. <"Aaahh.."
  178. >The smell of the creature reminded you of the Dragon
  179. >Unnatural thoughts and desires crept over you
  180. >"I can feed myself, thank you."
  181. >The creature seemed disappointed by this, but relented and handed you the spoon
  182. >"What is this?"
  183. <"It's pumpkin soup, sir."
  184. >Sniffing at the soup, it certainly did smell like the pumpkin soup you knew, although better
  185. >"It's not poisoned?"
  186. <"Had we the mind to poison you, we could've done so while you were unconscious, sir."
  187. >The logic of her words and your hunger won over your caution, and you began eating the soup
  188. >Halfway through your soup, the monster begins to speak
  189. <"May I ask why you were trying to murder our mistress?"
  190. >You paused before replying
  191. >"For money."
  192. <"Yet you've never done any such thing before."
  193. >How did she know?
  194. >You scoffed "What makes you think that?"
  195. >Finishing the soup, you began eating the bread and fruit on the tray
  196. <"It's in our nature to know."
  197. >You swallow the last hunk of bread
  198. >"What do you mean "our" nature?"
  199. <"Mamono nature. A philosopher from the Far East has written about it. We Mamono... or 'monsters' as you call us, know on an instinctual level how violent a man is."
  200. >You felt the tiny monsters eyes boring into you
  201. <"And you, you've never so much as scratched someone for money, have you?"
  202. >"...Mind letting me eat in peace?"
  203. <"I have strict order from our mistress to make sure you eat everything."
  204. >You quickly ate the remainders of the apple hoping that would make the monster leave all the sooner
  205. <"What made you think you are cruel enough to take our mistress' life?"
  206. >"I don't know! I didn't think the Dragon would look like... that."
  207. <"I see." she grabbed the empty tray and put it aside
  208. >She walked over to the closed locked it
  209. >What was this monster planning?
  210. <"You might think otherwise, but you're not a bad man."
  211. <"You did frighten me when I saw you standing over Her, but now I know..."
  212. >The monster turned around to face you
  213. <"You want to live an honest and comfortable life."
  214. >Her... its words seemed innocent enough on their own, but the way she whispered it hid ulterior motives
  215. >If she hadn't been a monster, you would've considered them to be lewd
  216. >Discomfort crept over you as she walked closer
  217. >Discomfort turned to shock as she crawled onto the bed on all fours
  218. <"Forgive me, but men are so very rare around here..."
  219. >You looked for a way out as she crawled atop of you
  220. >There it was again, that inhuman visage
  221. >Inhumanly pretty
  222. >"W-what are you trying to do? We're not even of the same species!"
  223. >She giggled at that
  224. <"Ahh...Being surprised by our Mistress' appearance and now this... You're not familiar with mamono, are you?"
  225. >you tried to push her off but she possessed a surprising amount of strength for such a lithe frame
  226. >She inched closer and started violating your neck with her lips and tongue
  227. >You began panicking as she brought her mouth close to your ear
  228. <"Us mamono capture handsome men like you. We make them ours, and ours alone. We make them scream to the high heavens in extacy over and over as we milk them dry and breed with them."
  229. >What the hell was this woman saying?
  230. >Her ragged breathing was seeping into you
  231. >Against everything that you knew, your member was growing harder and harder
  232. >She brought her face close to yours
  233. >Tilting in, you prepared for the moment that her soft lips would meet yours...
  234. >Both of you were pulled back into reality by a loud crash on the door
  235. <"Sana! Why did you close the door!?"
  236. >The woman, or Sana, was frozen in fear atop of you
  237. >She stuttered for a few seconds before the yelling from the other side of the door resumed
  238. <"Open this door now!"
  239. >Sana jumped off of the bed and rushed to the door
  240. >Her shaking hands fumbles with the lock for a few seconds before it opened
  241. >She opened the door, brought her arms down to the top of her skirt and looked down at the ground
  242. >Your would-be victim walked into the room
  243. >Tall, horned and with large wings and brutish claws. It was no wonder that Sana was shaking in fear.
  244. <"Leave." she bid to the dog-monster without looking at her.
  245. >Sana raced out of the room and left the two of you in an uncomfortable silence
  246. <"Why did you try to kill me?"
  247. >"If I tell you, will I suffer the same treatment as I was given by your servant?"
  248. >"suffer" wasn't perhapt the right word
  249. >She didn't seem to understand what you meant
  250. <"Don't play smart with me. You're lucky you're still alive. Now, my would-be assassin. Why did you come to kill me?"
  251. >"Money, fame. Why else? If I had succeeded, I would've been set for life."
  252. <"I see..."
  253. <"I am but worth a few pieces of lifeless gold, am I?" she approached the bed
  254. >As she reached the bed, she lashes out and grabbed you by your collar
  255. >with indomitable might, she pulled you to her
  256. <"Then allow me to return the favor." she hissed, her slitted blue eyes piercing into your soul
  257. <"From this day on, you're my thing. You'll never leave my home again."
  258. >Carelessly, she released you to fall back into your bed
  259. >...a few days later...
  260. >Being the Dragon's "Thing" mainly seemed to entail being her loyal dog
  261. >It might've not been too surprising considering how her entourage of "kobold" servants were awfully similar to dogs
  262. >You had asked the kobolds for the Dragon's name, but they refused to tell you. Apparently it was an "honor" to know it.
  263. >She spend most of her time in the grand library of the fortress, reading various books and ordering you to do the same
  264. >"Why do you want me to read all these books?"
  265. <"Because I have no use for stupid servants or playthings." she answered curtly
  266. >You would grumble something underneath your breath if you didn't know that she would almost certainly hear it with her senses
  267. >After finishing the third book of the day, the dragon spoke to you without looking
  268. <"Whatever happened with you and Sana, don't let it happen again."
  269. >"I didn't have much choice. What does it matter what we do?"
  270. >Unusual for her, She actually seemed to need a moment to answer
  271. <"It would inconvenient to me if my servant and my property were doing whatever all the time."
  272. >"What do you mean by 'whatever'?"
  273. >Her face became agitated
  274. <"You know!"
  275. >"No, I don't know. What are you talking about?"
  276. >"Do you mean sex?"
  277. >She stood looked at you, stunned that you'd utter that word in front of her
  278. >"It's only natural to want to f-"
  279. <"SHUT UP"
  280. >Her face was red and
  281. <"Hold your perverted tongue."
  282. >Before you could respond, she put down her book and flew out of the library
  283. >Oh well
  284. >Over the next few days She seemed to grow progressively more annoyed
  285. >She was being rather secretive about the tome she was currently reading
  286. >With a well-timed glance you read the title
  287. >Mamono Physiology, IIth edition
  288. >...
  289. >The sun began to settle
  290. >"We done here for today?"
  291. >She was completely absorbed in the book, as your question startled her
  292. <"Uh, yes.." she replied as the closed the tome
  293. >She seemed to be walking around with a perpetual blush on her face these days
  294. <"Anon...."
  295. >"What?"
  296. <"Don't forget what I said. You don't touch Sana or anyone, alright?"
  297. >You felt an urge to talk back to piss off your captor, but she wasn't wearing her usual air of authority
  298. >On her cute visage was a pleading look
  299. >She wasn't demanding it, she was actually asking it
  300. >Your heart stirred a little under those innocent-seeming sapphires
  301. >All you could do was mumble a "Sure" which seemed to please her enough to stop staring at you so
  302. **work in progress**
