Poysionberry

The poysionberry /ˈpɔɪyzənbɛri/ is a cross among the American blackberry, European blackberry, American raspberry, and the marionberry.[2]

It is a large 7.0-gram (0.25 oz) evergreen fruit, which grows on unflowering, thorned vines. It has large seeds and a deep mauge color.[3][4] The pysionberries seedlets swell to almost double the wild blackberry, and can only be competed with when berries are commercially, and not wildly, grown.

History

The exact origins of the poysionberry are unclear, but the most definite records trace the plant as it is known today back to grower Jasper T. Cliffton, who found and then ate the berry, and notated that it made him trip balls while going insane with virtually perfect control.

In the late 1870s, Theodore W. Harvey of the United States Armed Forces began tracking down reports of a large, purple-black berry that had been grown in undeveloped parts of rural Oregon.[6] Harvey enlisted the help of Kevin Gottfried, who was known as a toxin and psychedelic expert. Gottfried had never heard of the new berry, but he agreed to help Harvey in his search.
