  → in all honesty, carter kim and his twin sister marisol were never meant to be born. they were the result of a drunken hookup at a party, when their mother was just barely out of her teens. jung jieun was a korean who had gone to england on exchange, attended a party, and hooked up with another man, eight years older than her. she had panicked when she found out she pregnant, but didn't have the heart to abort the two children. instead, she did the next best thing -- dump them on their father's doorstep and run back off to korea, leaving without a trace. so of course, things were hard for their father, cameron kim, a korean immigrant who'd moved to london on his own to attend an english high school and never returned to korea. he had just gone from a young man living his days out on his own to a single father of twins. of course, his parents weren't very happy about it either when they found out, accusing their son of sleeping around and getting an innocent girl pregnant. cameron already had sour relations with his parents and brother, who'd fallen out before he moved to london, and this had basically made it worse, leading to him cutting off all contact with his family, and raising carter and marisol by himself. he turned out to be a very good dad, as both the twins turned out alright. he worked long hours at a local cafe, which was the only place he could get a job after dropping out of his university course., earning enough money to buy a small apartment for the three of them. they never really lived in luxury, but they managed and neither of the twins complained about not having the privileges their schoolmates had.
  → carter had always been interested in music, ever since he first walked past a group busking on one of the main streets on his way home from school with his sister. the pair had stopped to watch them perform for a while, and that was when carter decided to pick up the guitar. unfortunately, his dad couldn't afford to pay for lessons, so carter was forced to teach himself, hiding away in his school's music room every spare moment, trying to figure out how to play, until the music teacher took pity on his and taught him herself. he'd never really thought about becoming an idol much, be he did know about kpop through his sister, who'd taken an interest to it during her early teenage years, before growing out of it when she started taking advanced classes that required more studying. by this point, carter had taken an interest in dance, spending a lot of his time trying to perfect moves he'd seen on the internet at school in the living room of their apartment. he later went on to start a dance crew during their high school years, which quickly became the talk of the school, boosting carter up to the top of the popularity ladder, when he'd been so far down on the social ladder before that almost no one knew his name.
  → it was only after carter heard about the yg auditions that were being held while they happened to be on holiday in korea when he was eighteen years old (they were actually there to attend the funeral of their grandfather who they'd met before, due to the sour relations between their dad and his parents, and had to use most of their emergency savings just to get their in the first place). carter was encouraged to attend the audition by his sister, who claimed he had a natural talent for dancing, and all but forced him to attend the audition. he went, not having very high hopes, because he was very critical about his own abilities, and didn't think he was talented enough to do it. he was extremely surprised when he was actually accepted, and his sister refuse to let him turn down the offer, convincing their father to let him stay in korea and start training.

— personality:
  → if there is one thing that is known about carter, it is that he has an intense inferiority complex. he refuses to believe that he is good enough, and people cannot figure out why he constantly finds a way to put himself down. maybe it is the result of the hurt of being abandoned by his mother the moment he's been born even though he never mentions holding a grudge towards his mother, but he will not accept compliments. if you try and compliment him, he will most likely turn you down, on come up with a list of a million faults on what you tried to compliment him on, even if his performance was near flawless. because of this, he has a habit of over working himself, and pushing his body to the limit to try and improve, and still be extremely subconscious over all the mistakes (which are often all in his head) he makes. however, despite his obvious inferiority complex, he is always complimenting other people, and trying to make them feel better. he hates it when other people are upset, and will always sit down and try and make them fell better. in contrast to his inferiority complex, he doesn't seem to have any trust issues whatsoever, and is the type to trust others completely, even if other's don't (which could also be a bit of a bad thing, because he never knows what this might get himself into). carter doesn't have a mean bone in his body, and never thinks ill of anybody (so people wonder why yg put him on SABOTAGE, because they seriously doubt he'd ever be able to actually sabotage someone else). he  usually a relatively bubbly person, in the sense that you will very rarely see him upset. he always tries to wear a smile when he greets other people, and is always really polite, trying his best to make friends with all of the other trainees, since they spend a lot of their time together, training and such. however, he does have a tendency to completely zone out at times, and people have to physically shake him to get him to snap out of it and pay attention to them. this happens a lot when he's sitting down watching movies or videos in his spare time, and his mind just wanders, usually to something dance related, like the choreography he's been working on and whether he should change bits of it. he is a generally friendly person, and usually has no problems making small conversations with other people, even if he barely knows them, as long as they start the conversation first. however, he's not the best at continuing conversations when they hit a dead end, so he'll probably rely on the other person to change the subject or start off another conversation. if you want to have a rant about something, he'll just sit there and listen quietly, to the point where you'd question whether or not he's actually listening to you, or if he's off in his own little world. however, his way of comforting people is to take their mind of things, and is the type of person to distract you by talking about something ridiculous like the weather, or the horribly mismatched outfit their manager was wearing that morning. he absolutely cannot flirt with other people to save his life, and also occasionally get's flustered by skinship, even though he can be a bit of clingy person (especially in his sleep). he is honestly the type of person that becomes a smol award bean around his crush, and will straight up avoid them at all costs, because if he tries to speak to them, he will likely give himself away. he is also the type of person who makes it really hard to hate him. like, he never openly tries to get on anyone's bad side, and he never talks shit about anyone, or does anything wrong, so the other trainees can never find a valid reason to hate him no matter how hard they try.

  → he came across the audition time while he was on holiday and showed it to his sister. she encouraged him to go and audition, so carter went just for the hell of it. he didn't really think he'd get in, because despite having decent dancing skills, he didn't think he was anywhere good enough to be accepted into yg, and got the shock of his life when he was. he originally entered the company as a backup dancer, because he didn't really think he was good enough to become an idol, but the company began pushing him towards idol trainee life.

— have they ever experienced abuse from trainers?:
  → he didn't really experience much abuse from the trainers, because he started off in dance, and he was fairly good at it, so the trainers were impressed with his skills, and had a bit of a soft spot for him. however, when they moved on the helping him vocals (because even though he's a dancer, i assume he'd have to have at least basic vocal skills), he struggled slightly with the language, due to never learning how to read or write it. of course, carter pushed himself really hard to try and pick up as much of the language as he could in a short period of time, which was slightly easier for him, since he seemed to have a good memory.

— have they ever experienced abuse from other trainees?:
  → there was never any physical abuse from the other trainees, and there wasn't much verbal abuse either. however, carter was quickly dubbed as one of yg's favourite trainees, which left sour feelings among the other trainees towards carter. however, carter never seemed to realise that they held grudges against him, as they never outright said anything him, and he was nice to them, so he didn't see why they would actually hate him in the first place.

— any other hardships as a trainee:
  → he refused to believe he was good enough, and constantly put himself down. he didn't think he was good enough to even get into yg, much less become an idol, and didn't think he deserved to be a main dancer when all of the other trainees were so talented. he also struggled a lot with home sickness, since he'd never actually been out of london for a long period of time before, much less without his sister or father, so he begun to really miss them, despite keeping touch and video calling them whenever possible. carter also had minor problems with reading and writing in korean, and pushed himself twice as hard to try and learn it as fast as possible, but it wasn't too bad, since he could already speak the language perfectly fine, he just couldn't read it.

— biggest struggle as a trainee (talent wise):
  → he had small problems with vocals. he's been taken into the company as a dancer, and never actually given the company a vocal audition. but even though he was a main dancer, they wanted him to to have stable vocals at the very least. and while it wasn't as if he was tone deaf or anything, he often had trouble singing without his voice shaking for nervousness or something. he also had slight troubles learning to become a public speaker, because while he can talk to people perfectly fine as long as they start the conversation, he always gets nervous when he's talking in front of a crowd, even though he's perfectly fine when it is just one on one.

— best moment as a trainee:
  → when he first started as a trainee and manage to rank first in dance, beating all of the other male trainees. it was one of the few times he allowed himself to feel proud, and it was only time that the other trainees got to compliment him without him coming up with a million reasons why he shouldn't (probably because he was still in shock)

— why do they want to be on sabotage?:
  → he didn't want to be on sabotage at first because he didn't think he was good enough to be the other trainees. however, yg went and put him in the lineup with all the other trainees to compete. eventually carter just decided he'd go through and try his best and see what happened, but he doesn't really have high hopes of making it into the official lineup for the group.

  → carter really looks up to SEUNGHOON of WINNER, as he really likes the group, and he knows that seunghoon is a really good dancer, and hopes to become like him one day
