  1. Jaune's hand locked over Salem's and squeezed it tight. His face pushed into hers. "Stop this!"

  3. Her eyes narrowed. "I think you forget who is the one in charge here."

  5. His hand squeezed tighter. Immortal or not, Salem's bones creaked. The pain failed to register in her eyes, but he knew it must have been there. He kept squeezing until he heard a bone crack and break. Salem kept staring back, unconcerned with the damage he was causing.

  9. Chuckling, Salem ripped her hand from his, breaking two more fingers on the way out. Her hand flopped, wrist dislocated, but she took it in one hand and simply snapped her bones back into place. Whatever kept her from dying must have ensured she healed quickly, too, because her fingers were moving independently within seconds.
