  1. [16:57] Nykros says, "Ronan."
  2. [16:57] Ronan asks, "Hm?"
  3. [16:57] Nykros asks, "Have you been practicing?"
  4. [16:58] Ronan says, "Well, no not really -- I haven't had the opportunity to, just yet."
  5. [16:58] Nykros says, "I see."
  6. [17:02] Nykros says, "Ahem. Anyways. I'd advise practicing soon. I've already had to request Lord Ultovex to postpone the second lesson once. Another postponement likely wouldn't benefit either of us."
  7. [17:02] Ronan says, "It'll be done momentarily. I was hoping to stop by Garrick, The Drake when the opportunity allows for a weapon."
  8. [17:03] Nykros says, "Garrick is right here, though he's a bit... Spaced-out..."
  9. [17:03] Lea Elisheva asks, "Do you like my wings?"
  10. [17:04] Erétria Fengari exclaims, "They're soft!"
  11. [17:05] Lea Elisheva says, "Yes."
  12. [17:05] Ronan says, "..."
  13. [17:06] Erétria Fengari exclaims, "Yes!"
  14. [17:06] Erétria Fengari says, "Very soft."
  15. [17:06] Ronan finds himself disturbed by Erétria's presence, holding a concerned stare.
  16. (Ronan)
  17. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18.
  19. [17:06] Erétria Fengari says, "And fluffy and cuddly and warm."
  20. [17:06] Ronan says, "... I'll get right on to practicing now."
  21. [17:06] Erétria put both hands onto one wing, using the feathers to warm their fingers.
  22. (Erétria Fengari)
  23. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  24.
  25. [17:06] Lea Elisheva exclaims, "I love them too!"
  26. [17:06] Nykros asks, "Do you need a corpse, Ronan?"
  27. [17:06] Ronan says, "Yes, I do."
  28. [17:07] Nykros says, "I have a surplus now, if you require one."
  29. [17:07] Ronan says, "That would be greatly appreciated."
  30. [17:07] Nykros says, "Found a place decently full of rodents."
  31. [17:07] Ronan asks, "... A kitchen?"
  32. [17:07] Nykros says, "I will return with it shortly. Meet me in the tower."
  33. [17:11] The boy arrives into the tower, carrying a fox this time into the room, it was obviously dead due to it's lack of motion, and stiff body. Albeit, different from the last corpse, this one had no signs of wounds, likely having been killed by being frozen by the ice magi- Who of which hoists the cadaver onto the table, gesturing to it.
  34.
  35. "You already know the steps. But I did forget to answer one of your questions from last time, about the separate incisions for the heart and stomach. The reason for that is, you could likely stab one of the two organs through with the scalpel, given the difference in how deep the incision needs to be in those two places."
  36. (Nykros)
  37. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  38.
  39. [17:22] Larger creature, meant a bit more pressure to be applied -- But all of the same care.
  40. Tools were quickly examined, ensuring to himself that he infact had everything he needed.
  41.
  42. " Though, which one should you cut lighter? " He asked, in reference to the chest versus abdomen question, taking upon his scalpel to slice into the head. He had to angle the fox a bit different, rigor mortis didn't make the task much easier either.
  43.
  44. Though, it was accomplished, cleaner than the first time. He was catching on, fairly quickly, though it disgusted him all the same.
  45. One cut, from the top of the skull, to the beginning of the nasal cavity this time. The hammer was taken up, and bashed against the head.
  46.
  47. Nothing...
  48. The same issue as before.
  49.
  50. So, he tapped it a bit harder.
  51. Unfortunately, the difference between a mouse and a fox, was a much harder skull.
  52. This time, he gave it a decent whack, giving him all the displeasure of hearing a skull crack for the second time in his life.
  53.
  54. The hammer was placed aside, and fingers went to work, pulling away skull shell fragments to unveil the gray matter below.
  55. On the bright side, it looked like it was still in one piece.
  56. Pin and thread, just as before, except this time with less to sew back together.
  57. The initial stab was initiated with a decent jerk, and from then onward it seemed quite seamless.
  58.
  59. " Also, do you think it's possible to preserve a reanimated person? I feel as though, it should be possible to keep their organ tissue alive, or replace it with something living. Perhaps, it wouldn't be them, but by giving the illusion of a living body it'd certainly be less grotesque. " He babbled, before taking a pause to glimpse over to Nykros.
  60.
  61. "I'm referring to a human host, to clarify." He assured, before cutting the thread, and taking the scalpel down the back of the fox. The blade pierced its hide, but didn't cut cleanly all the way to the bone...
  62. Thus, he worked away, slicing again to slice the sinew that bound skin and associated flesh from the spine.
  63. (Ronan)
  64. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  65.
  66. [17:33] The boy was watching intently at the vastly improved dissection methods of Ronan. If this persisted, he'd be in a decent position to continue on to lesson two alongside him in no time at all, which was a relieving thought. He didn't wish to wait much longer after all.
  67.
  68. "The Heart requires a lighter cut, but both require the same caution to avoid damage. Even if you're making an organ exchange, given they still can receive damage from the process if you're not careful." he'd explain as the head was sewn shut.
  69.
  70. With the sinew on the back being split apart, just as the prior corpse, Nykros would begin to answer the next series of questions to the best of his own ability.
  71.
  72. "It is possible with advanced techniques to my knowledge, but no matter what, because the body itself had died as a prerequisite for Necromancy, no, it cannot be preserved in any other way for the basic method. It is impossible to make a 'human host' as you say, to my knowledge. No matter what, unless Sors feels like revealing such a thing to you, your Undead will rot no matter what, regardless of if you repair it. Such is the nature of Undeath."
  73. (Nykros)
  74. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  75.
  76. [17:34] Nykros says, "Hm. That sounded almost like a joke in retrospect... 'Nature' of Undeath, heh..."
  77. [17:43] The thought felt a bit disappointing, though a determined Ronan refused to accept such as truth.
  78. "I'd beg to disagree." He rebutted, scanning over the spinal columns to ensure they were indeed intact, before taking to the thread and needle once more -- The most tedious part of corpse preparation.
  79.
  80. "I can't help but feel as though binding a soul to a body does not necessarily mean that they must be bound to something... Well, dead." He explained, trying to pry together a theory as they went along.
  81.
  82. "Perhaps, through thorough medical knowledge and something akin to biomancy, some form of organic tissue can be properly living and sustain through alternative methods. You know, like more plant-based anatomy surrounding the body to prevent decomposition. It could possibly emulate flesh, though I am no biomancer, so I couldn't say for certain." He finished his sewing, cutting the excess thread prior to tying it up.
  83.
  84. Next, was the fox's underbelly: Primarily, the chest first.
  85. This time, Ronan sought to cut slower, horizontally across the chest. This time he didn't have to worry about cutting into the stomach as he conducted his examination.
  86.
  87. If there was anything Ronan had going for him? It was his natural desire to theorize and reflect on his actions, without practice it made something like this relatively easy to replicate.
  88. Though, it was likely he'd make mistakes, he'd improve at a decent pace as well.
  89.
  90. Fingers pushed into the incision to pry it open, just enough as to not tear the flesh with his bloodied fingers. He could see it, the heart... He didn't notice any form of damage from his perspective but one could never be sure. Under the assumption that there was no damage, he started sewing the chest back up... Cautiously though, as though really thinking on whether he may've cut -just- a bit too deep upon the incision.
  91. (Ronan)
  92. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  93.
  94. [17:49] The boy gave no qualms about the process thus far to Ronan. Further, even at the heart, he saw no issues with the corpse.
  95.
  96. "That should be basic knowledge. The flesh of a creature like a fox, or human is different from a plant's. It wouldn't really be able to ever mimic flesh properly to the extent you think. Besides, if you did, a biomancer of the most basic sort could just unravel your undead at the seams through that, couldn't they? Plant manipulation and all that." he'd attempt to contest against the claim.
  97.
  98. "And I'm only relaying what I myself know thus far, based on Sors' teachings to me. If you want to know more in-depth things such as that, ask him. Though it will most definitely cost you something extra when it comes from him, I hope you understand. And binding the soul is what he will teach next I assume. I'm not certain on that process either myself yet."
  99. (Nykros)
  100. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  101.
  102. [17:59] "Well, in that case." He turned his attention to the stomach, the messiest part of the entire endeavor.
  103. " Perhaps, the binding process would allow one to pull a soul into a separate vessel. You know, so -- If a biomancer could create a vessel, which could likely be disassembled by another biomancer, would that be contested by the very soul that inhabits the vessel in the first place? " He asked.
  104.
  105. The scalpel in-hand cut the abdomen vertically, down the middle to prevent the innards from spilling out on either side. The skin flaps acted more like a bowl in some aspects, for the intestines and so on, coupled further by the intact ribs.
  106.
  107. "I mean, we're both, magi, right?" He asked, expecting an immediate response before following up with another question.
  108. "--and, say in my case, I could use gravity magic, to theoretically pry someone apart, yeah?" He gave a brief pause before applying his finisher. By now, hisbrief examination of the innards seemed to be accomplished, leaving him to sew it back up.
  109.
  110. "So, theoretically? I should be able to pry apart magi in a brawl." He claimed, before shaking his head slightly. "Though, it's not that easy, they'd be more than strong enough to resist my powers." Funny enough, he wouldn't dare commit to such an act if it meant the death of said persona, but the conversation definitely put the thought in mind.
  111.
  112. Was this whole thing turning him for the worse? He hoped not.
  113. "By that logic, a soul that was bound back to a vessel forged of the biomancer's craft would be able to resist another biomancer trying to unweave its very make-up. Unless... It was critically weakened. Though, at that point, what difference would it make?"
  114.
  115. He was done with the examination, all while trying to debate theory with an adolescent. It was hardly for the sake of proving a point, and moreso of enjoying himself -- This corpse preparation procedure got to him -- So, he powered through it, the best way he knew how. Thankfully, Nykros participated knowingly or not.
  116.
  117. (Ronan)
  118. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  119.
  120. [18:06] In high contrast to Ronan, such preparation of a corpse didn't phase him at all. The young magi was one who thought of death as nothing more than something that 'happened', and further, thought nothing of desecrating a corpse in this way. If it helped further his own powers, or knowledge? He'd likely do anything he could.
  121.
  122. "Those are fair points, but not the ones I was trying to make. If the body is killed twice? That's it, it's no good to revive again. The plant matter that you tried to theoretically apply in order to replace their rotting flesh would be easy for a bio-magi to abuse. They could force the body apart, and therefore kill it without much trouble. That was my point."
  123.
  124. "And on the speak of a vessel for the soul is complicated. I know lichdom applies removing the soul from the body, and then also having the soul remotely puppeteer it's corpse. But I'm not certain that works the same way with those who aren't adept in Necromancy, y'know?"
  125.
  126. He'd take a break from talking, taking a deep breath before gazing at the final check begin completed.
  127.
  128. "Perfect examination, I'd say, Ronan. Methinks we'll both be moving on with our lessons rather quickly at this pace."
  129. (Nykros)
  130. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  131.
  132. [18:08] Ronan says, "<*shrugs*> It gets easier the less you really think about it, to be honest. Nothing too complex, yet."
  133. [18:09] Ronan says, "Thank you, though."
  134. [18:10] Ronan asks, "What do you think? Think it's about time to approach Lord Ultovex?"
