  5. The Philippines, officially called the Republic of the Philippines, is an archipelago located in Maritime Southeast Asia. The archipelago is bounded by the Philippine Sea (western North Pacific Ocean) to the east, the Celebes Sea to the south, the Sulu Sea to the southwest, and the South China Sea to the west and north. Its closest neighboring countries are Taiwan to the north and Malaysia to the south. Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos are west of the country, while the eastern Philippines' closest neighbors are Palau and the Marianas Islands.

The country lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a major area within the Pacific Ocean where many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur.

  14. Some famous landmarks of the Philippines include the Chocolate Hills, Banaue Rice Terraces, Maria Cristina Falls, Puerto Princesa Subterranean Underground River, Mayon Volcano, Boracay, and Taal Lake and Taal Volcano.

  16. Chocolate Hills, the pride of Boholanos are Mother Nature’s work of wonder and beauty. There are at least 1,260 hills covered in green grasses that turn brown during summer or the dry season, which make them look like chocolates.

  18. The Banaue Rice Terraces is considered by Filipinos as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. It is a 2,000-year-old terraces built by their ancestors using stone and mud walls to construct and form pond fields for the cultivation of rice in the mountains of Ifugao.

It is sometimes called the "twin falls" as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink (edge of a steep place) of the waterfall.   26. Taal Lake in Batangas is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the Philippines. The beautiful landscape of the lake which surrounds Taal Volcano, the smallest active volcano in the world. All of its eruptions are concentrated on Volcano Island, an island near the middle of Taal Lake.

Its facilities include a lot of water sports such as sailing, wind surfing, snorkelling, diving and jet skiing. Boracay nightlife is pulsating with many bars and restaurants serving food, drink and fun until the very late evening.
