I'll repost what I wrote down from the last big stream where viz and co discussed Heaven and its implementation in HH.

>Hazbin will focus more on the angelic heriarchy and mythology, less focused on individual biblical figures.

Cherubs are just a rank of angelic being, presumably equivalent to imps.

Heaven will probably have their own versions of sinners (being people who did good in life and are in heaven), presumably their own equivalent of Overlords (which is where I think the whole 'eyes around a ring' thing might happen). I think to an extent, Heaven will mirror/contrast with Hell's classification to show they're *really* not all that different at the end of the day.

But Cherubs are supposed to be near the top of the hierarchy while Imps are lower than garbage.

Mah boy if you're expecting this crp to adhere to any scriptural or apocryphal rules, you're gonna have a bad time. This is pop-culture abrahamic afterlife being used as a themeing device. Cherubs here have more in common with the little winged babies you see in Renaissance paintings than anything else.

Oof. That sort of depiction is serviceable enough in a pure comedy like HB but in a series like HH that supposedly has a serious narrative hook about redemption it'd be pretty lame. Maybe the best I can hope for is that if an A24 series ever comes out there'll be a disclaimer that it takes place in an alternative reality from HB where everything is the same except heaven is cooler.

There's always the possibility that the Cherub's appearance is their own version of a "human disguise" in that they assume seemingly innocent animal/childlike appearances to hide their true, more inhumane and less describable, forms.
