About scat

I get this question too often: what does scat mean?

You could look this up on google, although I'll admit it was hard for me to find the answer in research too.
Marina is making her voice sound like an instrument. Whatever is said there is basically improv. Pearl isn't meant to be translated either, but you can clearly hear she's saying most of the chants from before the scat. It's odd they even make that distinction given the actual lyrics are gibberish anyway. But when Marina starts singing from 'wirayonnyasa' right to 'raizonnei' she isn't saying anything translatable. Because it's improv. Hence also why in the concerts she went a little nuts in the second time.
