  1. Now of age, Wraith and her teammates Mirage and Pathfinder are set upon after finishing a fight in the same bunker as all those years prior; Wraith inadvertently shows her darker side to her friends.
  2.
  3. ************************************************************************************
  4.
  5. “Someone’s coming.”
  6.
  7. The whispers warned her, causing her eyes to dart down the hall. “We're not alone,” She said quietly to her squad, hearing soft footsteps nearing her. Wraith moved forward, knowing the new arrival was going to turn to the left, into the darkened hall they stood in. Quickly, the Voidwalker tightened her left hand into a familiar fist, activating the phaseshift device and launching her into the void. She positioned herself behind where her would-be attacker was. And after a drawn out second, Wraith was thrust back into the world, exactly where she wanted to be. With soundless steps, she pulled out her newly sharpened kunai. As she twirled it, her attacker turned, but it wasn’t soon enough. Wraith brought her knife into the side of her would-be attacker’s stomach and twisted it with a sickening squelch. The young woman had pain and fear painted so clearly on her youthful face. The carbine she held clattered to the ground, echoing around the bunker. It seemed like she’d already lost the rest of her squad and was just trying to keep going a bit longer. Wraith felt a pang of pity run through her, but she reminded herself it was the woman or her. There was no other way. The Voidwalker watched with morbid curiosity as blood bubbled from the girl’s mouth as she tried to speak, some final, desperate phrase – but words never came. Wraith’s stomach lurched with some mixture of disgust, remorse, and fear - and she leaned forward, down a little, to her side, and whispered, ever so quietly, through the mask that covered her face.
  8.
  9. “Caught you.”
  10.
  11. The girl went still after what felt like an age, blood pouring from her nose and mouth. Wraith almost couldn’t tear her eyes away from the small body in front of her. The whispers grew almost deafening, and the puddle of blood at her feet suddenly seemed almost too red. The voices were starting to get the better of her.
  12.
  13. She could barely focus on anything else, until she felt someone staring at her. Looking up, Wraith’s eyes locked with Mirage’s, and for a moment, neither of them spoke. Although it wasn’t like him, Mirage was at a loss for words. He tried to think of something to lighten the abruptly somber mood, but nothing seemed right. “That was the only one.” Wraith murmured after a long pause between the two. She didn’t like the way that her teammate was looking at her. She shifted her weight uncomfortably, and then started back into the room that Pathfinder was investigating. Mirage felt his brows furrow, and he tapped on his gun idly. He was sure she wouldn’t have wanted him to hear the words she’d spoken to the now dead woman on the floor. But he had, and now he was even more confused about her. He’d seen her eyes go that odd, milky colour, just seconds before - and she seemed like she couldn’t tear her eyes away from the person she’d killed.
  14.
  15. “Let’s move out.” The biosuit-clad Wraith said in a blunt monotone, checking the holoscreen on her wrist. Only another hour before the ring closed. Time to go.
