Man with No Name- Shooting Colonel's Hat

Without warning the hunter brought up his fist in a hard, sledging right to the other’s jaw. The Colonel flew backward, landing on his shoulders in a cloud of dust. After a moment he got to his feet, moving slowly and carefully, watching the expressionless granite face.

He dusted himself off, then reached down to retrieve his fallen hat. His fingers were on it when his adversary’s hand whipped under the poncho and out with lightning speed. The hunter’s gun slammed and the Colonel’s hat flew out of its owners grasp, coming to rest a dozen paces down the street. Colonel Mortimer backed carefully to where the hat rested and reached again. Again the gun thundered and the headpiece flew down the street. The shots came steadily until the hunter’s gun was empty and his rival far down the street. The Man With No Name shook out the empty shells and reloaded while the Colonel picked up the riddled hat, dusted it and settled it back on his head.

The reloading finished, the gun lifted and thundered twice. Two spurts of dust geysered up between the Colonel’s feet. The hunter lowered his gun to his side then, and stood, silent and watchful.
