  1. Background:
  2. The fall of the Bazrian Empire sent ripples throughout the lands it reigned over. None were safe from the chaos. One such ripple struck Serena Laelia, a Centurion stationed in a fort in the Ayo foothills of the Azure Mountains. She had chosen to leave her life in the Bazrian Capitol to pursue one of service to her country and to its people, as she thought that was her duty as one gifted with ability. Her service in the outskirts of the Empire's territory was not even seven months before the grave news came. The Empire was dead and gone.
  3.
  4. When word of the fall came to Serena, she already knew why. The Empire’s death was brought about by its leaders squabbling amongst themselves and ignoring their populace and their safety. They neglected their duty as rulers and nobility, and the Empire failed for it. Perhaps Serena could have done more for the Empire. Maybe if she was dispatched closer to the capitol, she could have saved at least some people. If she could have reminded the leaders of their responsibilities, maybe she would still have a home to return.

  6. With no home, and no empire, Serena was left to a life of either banditry, like many under her command had done, or that of a knight errant. Her life as a knight errant was filled with directionless convictions until word came to her from Lote. Princess Raina's Ensoulment Project provided the knight errant with renewed purpose, a chance to become the hero she knows she can be, and a chance for the lessons of the old empire to not be forgotten.

  8. What do you mean to represent as a champion of Lote?:
  9. Serena plans to represent the idea that authority bears with it a level of societal obligation, and neglecting or abandoning that obligation will lead to ruin. She saw the Empire benefit when they upheld their responsibilities to the county and its people, and she saw it fall when they abandoned those duties to quarrel amongst themselves. To prevent a similar fate for the country of Lote, as a champion she seeks to preserve the Gravitas and Pietas that carried ancient Baz to success, even if that empire is long gone.
