- background: FOR AS LONG AS HE COULD REMEMBER, TAEJUN HAD ALWAYS HATED HIS SISTER. he was just eleven and she had taken away his mother, their mother. his father had come home with her, and taejun was so, so confused as to why his mom wasn’t with them. and then he was angry and frustrated and he felt like the world turned on him and he had nothing. even as they grew up, taejun never forgot what she had taken to live, but he also reminded himself that she had no choice, that she couldn’t do anything. then, when their father decided to move the family back to south korea so they could have financial help from their aunt, taejun felt the world rip apart from him and he lost his friends, his home. in some ways, even though he was devasted about what he had let slip through his fingers, taejun was glad that they went to korea; he had to learn a new language (even though his sister, nieun, learned korean natively), but the words made him feel closer to himself and to his mother, he didn’t feel as empty.
- personality: HE SEEMED TO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN DECENT, but taejun had lost count of when he started to dislike himself. he wanted to be someone his mother would’ve liked, but he was so clueless as to what she wanted of him. that is when he started hiding things about himself, things he wasn’t sure his mother would like. he grew attached to the piano, and he loved little things about the world like how beautiful he thought the sky was, but he hid those things. things that seemed personal, things he didn’t want anyone but his mom to know. he would cry every night, he would cry and he would beg the world to give his mom back. but she never came back, and when he was eighteen, he stopped crying over her, stopped crying completely. taejun seemed to be laugh, a funny person who easily made others smile, but he saw things; taejun was good at observing and thinking, and he thought a lot about everything.
