- "The Prophecies of Apollonia", By Neonate Elizabeth Jinx-Ech'lir, of the Spire (Page 2)
- Miraman 6th, 427 AF:
- In these dark times, sometimes an oracle makes it known what could
- happen. While, most of the time, we think them insane, as is the case in
- Apollonia, we end up kicking ourselves when we find out they are the
- real thing. This book is dedicated to Apollonia, who turned out to be
- the real thing.
- Currently, it is unknown if she will be able to get more prophecies,
- after someone got rid of her tongue. And so, this is the most complete
- version I could find.

- Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh shouts, "Oh, the tadpoles also
- tell me that the Mitran temples will be conquered by people who love
- everything? Curious. Orgies in the sun temples! The Lady Mithraea I
- remember wouldn't permit that! But one can't argue with tadpoles..."
- Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh shouts, "The tadpoles also tell me
- that some very gloomy and dark people are going to completely conquer
- the ocean and put shrines in that big temple in Riparium!"
- Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh shouts, "The tadpoles also tell me
- that someday soon, some person called... Sky? Yes, Sky... Sky will
- sacrifice herself into the eternal torment that is the rulership of a

- falling of the sky is imminent. Seek cover! Tell your loved ones you
- love them! For the end is near!"
- Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh shouts, "Sacrifice a greater
- dragon to the Queen of the Celestial Sceptre, or Ashtan shall perish in

- Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh shouts, "The Ghoul King rises on
- the Night of Silvered Pain. The Forest of Eternity will be cut down and
- consumed by the Fires of Industry. The people of the forest are doomed

- The fate of Apollonia
- Kuntar says, "Now, I don't mean to cause a panic, but has anyone else
- seen Apollonia in the planetarium?"
- You say, "Is Apollonia in the planetarium?"
- Kuntar says, "She is. Her tongue seems to have been cut out."
- Griffel says, "Eeeep."
- Kuntar says, "She's tied up and unconcious."
- You say, "Oh.."
- ....A few moments later after I'd prismed in.....
- A vast underground cavern.
- A natural cavern has been dramatically enlarged to create a vast
- underground workspace, dimly illuminated by a scant few glowing glass
- orbs perched atop
- sconces nailed upon the walls. The dirt beneath has been stamped down by
- hundreds of footprints, humanoid and not. Piles of odourless bat guano
- lie swept into one corner, and used cargo crates are stacked high within
- another, empty but for the straw lining now spilled upon the ground.
- Though there appears to
- have been a great deal of activity here at one time, the cavern lies
- mostly empty now, warm and silent in the earth's embrace. Badly beaten
- and bruised,
- young Apollonia lies here bound and unconscious. Professor of Verminous
- Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious is riding on a red balloon
- twisted into a giraffe. He wields a beautiful practice rapier in his
- left hand and a small blackjack in his right.
- There are no obvious exits.
- --- ALREADY EXPLORED THIS ROOM ---
- Kuntar nudges Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh suggestively.
- Dried blood mats Apollonia's hair, and her beautiful features twist with
- pain even in her state of coma. Her dry, cracked lips are slightly
- parted, just enough to show a stump where her tongue should have been.
- Kuntar says, "Got in here by opening a book in the library."
- You pet Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh ingratiatingly.
- Lakeside Lyricist, Lythea Windsong says, "There's a library? I missed
- stuff."
- Delphinus blinks incredulously at Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh.
- Seilyn Moonflair, Vagrant of Autumn says, "Holy crap."
- You wrap a comforting arm around Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh.
- Delphinus frowns at Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh.
- Seilyn Moonflair, Vagrant of Autumn says, "..Damn. I knew people wanted
- to kill her, but.."
- Seilyn Moonflair, Vagrant of Autumn says, "Ew."
- Delphinus Windancer, the Gatecrasher asks, "....Where is this?"
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "This is under the library."
- You say, "In a book.."
- You nod your head slowly, trying to wear your best wise look.
- Delphinus Windancer, the Gatecrasher says, "Ah."
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "I opened a book and the ground dropped out from under me."
- You say, "Can we get her to somewhere she can get healing?"
- Silas creases his brow in a frown.
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "As you open an illuminated book, hidden mechanisms whirr and
- click, and you find the segment of floor beneath you move. When you look
- up from the book you were about to pull off the shelf, you find yourself
- in a vast underground cavern."
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "...hrm."
- Kuntar empties out a bucket on top of Apollonia, the Oracle of the
- Mannaseh, covering it in water.
- Lakeside Lyricist, Lythea Windsong says, "Guano, how unexpected."
- Jaizsur nods his head emphatically.
- With a wistful look on his face, Delphinus touches Apollonia, the Oracle
- of the Mannaseh.
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "Maybe it'd be best if we first found a way out of here?"
- Delphinus Windancer, the Gatecrasher says, "I think if there was one,
- she would've found it."
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "She's kind of comatose."
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "And she has no tongue."
- Jaizsur "Wonder Lemming" Ta'sa says, "Wow."
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "So I don't think she would have."
- You say, "Can we get her unbound?"
- Delphinus Windancer, the Gatecrasher says, "Yes, but I doubt she was
- always that way."
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "No, she used to be shouting inanities from the Manneseh."
- Dalavan arrives following Regent of the Crown, Saltaern Sioraiocht.
- Saltaern suddenly appears, having travelled down the beam of prismatic
- light.
- Elegant on her feet despite her swollen belly, an ebon-maned nightmare
- enters upon a wisp of shadow.

- says, "...how conveinent."
- Seilyn blinks.
- Saltaern bows respectfully to a black lamassu.
- You curtsey respectfully before a black lamassu.
- Delphinus Windancer, the Gatecrasher smiles impishly and says, "I guess
- they read from the book, too."
- You roll on the floor, laughing.
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "Could be."
- Delphinus Windancer, the Gatecrasher says to a black lamassu, "Can you
- help her?"
- Regent of the Crown, Saltaern Sioraiocht says to a black lamassu, "Hail
- creatures of the Triad!"
- A black lamassu bends her forelegs and touches her head to the ground
- lightly in reverence towards the pregnant nightmare.
- Seilyn Moonflair, Vagrant of Autumn says, "Masters of the Obvious."
- Kuntar pokes at Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh urgently.
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "What am I taking?"
- The warmth of the merry campfire drains away your tensions and worries.
- Delphinus pets a pregnant nightmare ingratiatingly.
- You say, "Is there anything we can do, oh wise Lamassus? To awaken
- Apollonia."
- Dharke closes her eyes and begins to chant a secret incantation.
- Saltaern looks about himself, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
- A pregnant nightmare slowly walks towards the unconscious girl and bends
- her neck to nuzzle Apollonia's face tenderly.
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says,
- "...that doesn't quite help."
- You have recovered balance on all limbs.
- Kuntar gives a pained sigh.
- Seilyn blinks incredulously at a pregnant nightmare.
- The ropes tying Apollonia's hands and legs together fall away beneath
- the nipping teeth of the nightmare.
- Saltaern flashes a pregnant nightmare a joyous smile.
- You beam broadly at a pregnant nightmare.
- "The Prophecies of Apollonia", By Neonate Elizabeth Jinx-Ech'lir, of the Spire (Page 28)
- Kuntar tenderly strokes Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh's cheek.
- "Ugh!", Seilyn says in disgust.
- The pregnant nightmare bends her neck lower to touch her forehead
- against the unconscious girl's. A pulse of brilliant energy surrounds
- Apollonia for an instant, and when it fades, the nightmare appears even
- less substantial than before.
- Ack' Delphinus says at a pregnant nightmare.
- You stroke Apollonia, the Oracle of the Mannaseh tenderly.
- Dharke closes her eyes and begins to chant a secret incantation.
- A small, guttural noise issues from Apollonia's throat as her eyes, as
- blue as a patch of cloudless and sunlit sky, fly open, and she sits
- upright.
- The noise is replaced by choking sobs as tears flow freely from
- Apollonia's face, streaking through the dirt and dried blood on her
- cheeks. She throws her arms around the nightmare's neck and holds on
- tightly as the nightmare continues to nuzzle her comfortingly.
- Apollonia opens her mouth and her lips shape words in response, but
- without a tongue to guide them, nothing but a terrible moan issues
- forth.
- Seilyn looks about himself, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
- The pregnant nightmare collapses heavily onto her side, gasping. Her
- abdomen contracts and expands rapidly.
- "Bah!" Kuntar retorts disgustedly.
- Dharke Concordia, Viperas Potentor says, "Haha, lipreading isn't
- helping."
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "Oh boy."
- Seilyn Moonflair, Vagrant of Autumn says, "Oh no."
- You blink.
- Delphinus Windancer, the Gatecrasher says, "Here we go."
- The lamassus lope swiftly to the nightmare, surrounding her on all sides
- and concealing her from view.
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "Stand back, I helped deliver a snow leopard cub."
- A black lamassu exclaims, "Hark, the child comes!"
- A black lamassu exclaims, "Hail to the blessed mother!"
- A black lamassu exclaims, "Be strong!"
- Rolland rubs his hands together in prayer, and you feel healing energy
- begin to emanate into your surroundings.
- Elizabeth watches, eyes wide with wonder.
- A long, shuddering neigh from the nightmare from within the circle of
- lamassus is answered by a shorter, high-pitched sound, somewhere between
- a squeal and a snort.
- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "I hope I'm the father."
- Kuntar's eyes raise to the heavens as a look of hope flashes across his
- face.

- "Awwwww!" you say.
- "Awwwww!" Namino says.
- You pet a newborn nightmare foal ingratiatingly.
- Saltaern beams broadly at a newborn nightmare foal.
- Seilyn pets a newborn nightmare foal ingratiatingly.
- The mother nightmare nuzzles her foal lovingly with the last of her
- strength.
- Then, all strength spent, her head falls with a terrible thud to the
- ground, the light behind her eyes snuffed out.
- A wispy forelock the colour of starlight falls over this newborn foal's
- eyes, which are an intense, fiery green and lit from within by a
- disquieting awareness and intelligence unlike any equine you have ever
- seen. The foal's short black coat shimmers as if dew-kissed. An
- extremely faint, circular depression lies between her upraised ears, its
- black, bony surface barely visible against her ebon coat.
- Yrael pets a newborn nightmare foal ingratiatingly.
- Emynui blinks.
- You sniffle softly.
- Namino Silverwing says, "Well."
- Namino Silverwing says, "Dead in childbirth."

- The mother nightmare's body begins to blur, becoming a hazy and
- undefined black mist.
- Seilyn pets a mother nightmare ingratiatingly.
- Shepherdess of the Stars, Ayrh Shiva says, "Good job mother."
- Then, even that fades, and she is gone, leaving only the nightmare foal
- curled alone upon the ground.
- Spellbinding Emynui De'Le'Vec says, "Poor baby."
- Namino strokes a newborn nightmare foal tenderly.
- Kuntar wraps a comforting arm around a newborn nightmare foal.

- Professor of Verminous Study, Kuntar Semshan, Master of the Obvious
- says, "...panic?"
- The foal does not remain alone for long, however, as the black lamassus
- are soon upon her, soothing her, singing softly to her in a strange
- language.
- Saltaern's mouth turns up as his face breaks into a smile.
- You sniffle softly.
- Namino Silverwing says, "Way to be lamssus."
- Namino swings his arm up and high fives a black lamassu
- enthusiastically.
- Dalavan gives you a friendly cuddle.
- Delphinus Windancer, the Gatecrasher asks a black lamassu, "What...
- who...?"
- Namino sinks back into the menacing stance of the Scorpion.
- Namino Silverwing says, "Er guys."
- Delphinus looks on with mute interest.
- Namino Silverwing says, "I'd be ready for the bats."
- A black lamassu says, "We shall tend to the girl and the child."
- A black lamassu says, "We shall protect."
