  1. Hypothesis
  2. That the high-priced paintballs will perform most accurately & most reliably over the average-priced paintballs, which would in turn perform better than the cheap paintballs.
  3. Statement of The Problem
  4. Which paintball price range will perform most accurately & reliably: the high-priced ($50-60/full case), the average-priced ($40+/full case),or the cheap-priced ($30+/full case)?
  5. Materials
  6. 1 Electro-pneumatic paintball marker
  7. Compressed Air Tank 4500 psi
  8. Electronic Paintball Hopper
  9. 4 14x18 sheets of Cardboard
  10. Tripod
  11. 1 pod JT Paintballs ($30/case)
  12. 2 pod Toxic WPN Paintballs ($47/case)
  13. 1 pod Marballizers ($60/case)
  14. Note: 1 pod contains approximately 200 paintballs
  15.
  16.
  17.
  18. Procedures
  19. Perform marker maintenance by replacing any broken o-rings ,lubricating the moving parts, and charging the battery.
  20. Attach compressed air tank and paintball hopper.
  21. Secure marker set-up to tripod. Make sure it is stable and aimed correctly at the target.
  22. Set up one target downrange, at about 50 feet.
  23. Procedures Cont’d
  24.
  25. Load hopper with 1 pod of the Toxic WPN paintballs.
  26. Activate marker and slowly fire the paintballs to calibrate the aim and to ensure that there are no pre-existing mechanical issues that need to be addressed. If there are any, fix them.
  27. Switch the target after you are finished pre-testing.
  28. Procedures Cont’d
  29. Load the marker with the JT Paintballs and fire at the fastest rate possible.
  30. Make note of any malfunctions, and after the firing is done, assess the target for accuracy.
  31. Repeat the previous three steps for the Toxic WPN Paintballs and the Marballizers.
  32.
  33. Results
  34. At the end of the experiment, the PSI in the compressed air tank dropped to 2000 PSI
  35. JT Paintballs: Of the 200 paintballs, 8% were off target, and an additional 2% misfired. The remaining 90% struck the target in a spread out and inconsistent pattern.
  36. Results Cont’d
  37. Toxic WPN Paintballs: Five percent of the 200 paintballs missed the target, and 3% misfired. The last 92% in a tight but even spread.
  38. Marballizers: None of the paintballs misfired. All of the Marballizers impacted the target with pinpoint accuracy, so much so that it shreaded a corner of the target off.
  39. Conclusion
  40. Clearly, the Marballizers performed perfectly in both accuracy and reliability.
  41. The Toxic WPN Paintballs were accurate and relatively reliable while still being affordable.
  42. The JT Paintballs were usable, but less than ideal.
