43. Set in the near future when artificial organs can be bought on credit, it revolves around a man who struggles to make the payments on a heart he has purchased. He must therefore go on the run before said ticker is repossessed.
44. In the future humans have extended and improved our lives through highly sophisticated and expensive mechanical organs created by a company called "The Union". The dark side of these medical breakthroughs is that if you don't pay your bill, "The Union" sends its highly skilled repo men to take back its property... with no concern for your comfort or survival. Former soldier Remy is one of the best organ repo men in the business. But when he suffers a cardiac failure on the job, he awakens to find himself fitted with the company's top-of-the-line heart-replacement... as well as a hefty debt. But a side effect of the procedure is that his heart's no longer in the job. When he can't make the payments, The Union sends its toughest enforcer, Remy's former partner Jake, to track him down.
45. The storyline was a very big turn-off when I read it but not after I saw the movie. Tell anyone that storyline while trying to recommend the movie and you'll get reactions, not the approval nod or the smiling support, but the "you're an idiot" kind of look. Anyway, I decided to see the movie strictly because of the body of work of Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber and several of the movies in which Jude Law was featured, particularly "All The King's Men". How bad can a movie with these three talented actors be? It took just a little effort to keep an open mind about the storyline and then what I hoped for quickly started to manifests itself, the drama of struggle. Whitaker, Schreiber and Law gave their characters all the power you could expect. The outrageousness of the story was irrelevant; the gamut of emotions of any other good story jumps at you. Treat this movie as just another sci-fi based film and you will be impressed. You must get over the initial shocking idea of repossessing organs. As I write these words, I realize it's a hard sell. The critics, reviews and ratings reflect just how hard a sell it is.

If I managed to watch the flick till the end, it had some redeeming value. I recommend it if you have a strong stomach. I'll admit you probably have to be a fan of these actors to consider watching it and if so, you will not be disappointed; otherwise please ignore this review and forget you ever read it.
46. Judging by the trailer I had a feeling this movie was going to suck, but to my surprise the first half was actually sort of pretty entertaining. The second half started to drag and started to get boring, and as you start watching you will discover a lot of plot holes but the twist near the end explains it so it's forgivable I guess. Forest Whitaker put on the best performance in this, it just made it really believable that him and Jude Law's character are best friends. So the movie is basically about Remy(Jude Law) and Jake(Forest Whitaker) and they work for a corporation in the future that produce artificial organs and limbs for the people that need it, but it comes with a big price tag and if they can't pay people like Remy and Jake comes to take them away from the people that can't pay up and if they take a vital organ the person that can't pay up is basically dead. But later Remy gets into a accident where he needs a artificial heart himself, and soon grows a conscience and since he himself can't pay for his artificial heart he is now on the run from the corporation. I couldn't buy the world in the film as being realistic in the near future, but that isn't to say it was somewhat entertaining. You won't miss anything by not seeing it on the big screen because it gets tedious at some parts, but it's a good rental.

6.9/10
47. Repo Men makes sci-fi's strongest possible case for universal health care.
48. Repo Men is based on the novel The Repossession Mambo by Eric Garcia. It's called "Burn My Shadow" by UNKLE. The DVD and Blu-ray disc releases of the film contain both the theatrical version (rated R) and an unrated version of the movie. The longer cut has approximately 7 minutes of additional footage, mostly containing story-driven scenes but also some slight corrections of editing mistakes and some new gore. a5c7b9f00b
