[20:36] <Lysander_Bel> It's too big and too open and /me is not okay with that.
[20:37] <Lysander_Bel> There is a reason Lysander has spent as much of his life before today indoors.
[20:37] <Thingymabob> Well lucky for you you can hear people heading over to investigate what happened
[20:38]  * Lysander_Bel is not particularly fond of people either, but they're at least surviveable.  Especially since he himself barely knows what happened.
[20:39]  * Lysander_Bel waits.
[20:39] <Thingymabob> You hear the rubble moving
[20:39] <Thingymabob> And eventually are met by a face
[20:39] <Thingymabob> They wave at you
[20:40] <Lysander_Bel> "I am so sorry you had to be the poor sap who wound up saving me," says Lysander through the face of Akinyi.
[20:40] <Thingymabob> He says it's alright he's just happy to help
[20:41] <Thingymabob> He drags you out of the rubble pile with some help from some other people
[20:41] <Lysander_Bel> "Uh.  Any chance there's somewhere *indoors* nearby?"
[20:41]  * Lysander_Bel keeps his eyes firmly planted on the ground.  If he can't see it, it can't hurt him.
[20:42] <Lysander_Bel> Literally, as with most such psychosomatic problems.
[20:42] <Thingymabob> He scratches his head
[20:42] <Thingymabob> Yeah uhh
[20:42] <Thingymabob> He says
[20:42] <Thingymabob> Come with me he says
[20:42] <Lysander_Bel> Akinyi nods and follows.
[20:43] <Thingymabob> And leads you over to a big fucking apartment complex
[20:44]  * Lysander_Bel makes a valiant effort to not run for the front door as soon as it comes into sight.
[20:45] <Thingymabob> Luckily your looking straight down
[20:45] <Thingymabob> So it doesn't come into sight very quickly
[20:45] <Lysander_Bel> Success!
[20:45] <Thingymabob> But the revolving door let's you in nicely
[20:46] <Thingymabob> You are greeted by a valet
[20:46] <Thingymabob> He asks how your day has been
[20:46] <Lysander_Bel> "S'been... long.  Really long"
[20:46]  * Lysander_Bel scoffs.  "Can't complain, though.  S'nothing I didn't bring on myself"
[20:47] <Thingymabob> He says that's great
[20:47] <Lysander_Bel> "Yeah.  How about you?"
[20:48] <Thingymabob> He says it's been great
[20:49] <Thingymabob> He tells you that nobody even spat on him today
[20:49] <Thingymabob> He then goes on about how nobody has even slammed a door on him
[20:49] <Lysander_Bel> "Oh, awesome.  Living the dream, eh?"
[20:49] <Lysander_Bel> "Wait.  Did anyone actually get the chance to?"
[20:50] <Lysander_Bel> "I usually manage to avoid all that by virtue of never interacting with anyone ever"
[20:50] <Thingymabob> He says everybody gets the chance too but luckily not everyone does
[20:50] <Lysander_Bel> "Dang, dude.  Rock on"
[20:51] <Lysander_Bel> "Anyway, mind if I like... use your roof for a few hours?"
[20:51] <Thingymabob> He says go ahead
[20:52] <Lysander_Bel> "Awesome.  Outside has a pretty crippling case of not having a roof"
[20:53] <Thingymabob> He says they have sails up there to stop the sun but you can lower them if you want
[20:53]  * Lysander_Bel blinks
[20:53] <Lysander_Bel> "Wait, really?"
[20:54] <Thingymabob> He says yes
[20:54] <Lysander_Bel> "This is the best nightmare I've had in years"
[20:55] <Lysander_Bel> "What's the catch?"
[20:55] <Thingymabob> He says that's great to hear and that there's no catch
[20:55] <Lysander_Bel> "S'always a catch"
[20:55] <Thingymabob> He corrects himself and says that actually sometimes the sails get a bit stuck and you have to jiggle them a bit
[20:56] <Lysander_Bel> "Being able to walk around on a street like a normal person isn't just something that happens without there being a catch"
[20:56] <Thingymabob> He says it must just be your lucky day
[20:57] <Lysander_Bel> "That's... mostly ominous"
[20:57] <Lysander_Bel> "Someone more careful than me would look into it!"
[20:57] <Lysander_Bel> "Show me?"
[20:58] <Thingymabob> He leads you over to a set of elevators
[20:58] <Thingymabob> He tells you you just have to hop in and press the r button
[20:58] <Thingymabob> He says it stands for roof
[20:59] <Lysander_Bel> "Thanks for saying so, I wasn't sure"
[20:59]  * Lysander_Bel does just that, flickering between illusory layers in barely-restrained excitement
[21:00] <Thingymabob> The elevator slowly dings up
[21:00] <Thingymabob> Floor
[21:00] <Thingymabob> By
[21:00] <Thingymabob> Floor
[21:00]  * Lysander_Bel starts mashing the R button
[21:00] <Thingymabob> Your about 3 floors off before the elevator stops
[21:01] <Thingymabob> The doors open and someone gets in
[21:01]  * Lysander_Bel forces himself to stop changing his appearance, settling on Taniks the troll.  No reason to freak anyone out more than he usually does
[21:02] <Thingymabob> The doors close again
[21:02] <Thingymabob> And the elevator continues
[21:02] <Thingymabob> You are now on the roof
[21:02] <Thingymabob> The other person does not get out
[21:02] <Lysander_Bel> "Cue everything going wrong"
[21:02]  * Lysander_Bel steps out onto the roof
[21:03] <Thingymabob> You are now on the roof
[21:03] <Thingymabob> The sails are up
[21:03] <Thingymabob> Nobody is up there
[21:03]  * Lysander_Bel flops down
[21:04] <Lysander_Bel> Fresh air, for the first time in... the time since he last got some fresh air
[21:04] <Lysander_Bel> Might have been in Cape Town or whatever it's called
[21:05] <Lysander_Bel> Cape Cod?
[21:05] <Lysander_Bel> Some sorta capey place
[21:06]  * Lysander_Bel closes his eyes and enjoys the miracle of being simultaneously outdoors and still inside
[21:08] <Thingymabob> It truly is a magical place
[21:09] <Lysander_Bel> Indeed.
[21:10] <Lysander_Bel> But eventually the guilt from defiling such a treasure with his presence inches its way back, and Lysander decides that maybe he should go back inside after all
[21:10] <Lysander_Bel> Feeling like this can't be healthy in the long term
[21:10] <Thingymabob> The elevator button is right there
[21:10] <Thingymabob> Waiting for you
[21:10] <Thingymabob> For you to end it all
[21:10] <Thingymabob> The only moment of joy you've had
[21:11] <Lysander_Bel> Not the only one
[21:11] <Lysander_Bel> There was one a while ago, before people started dying on him
[21:11] <Lysander_Bel> But that moment's passed
[21:11] <Lysander_Bel> And so should this one.
[21:11]  * Lysander_Bel presses the button, and goes back down
[21:12] <Thingymabob> The elevator is still there
[21:12] <Thingymabob> The man is still waiting
[21:12] <Lysander_Bel> "Sorry.  All yours"
[21:12]  * Lysander_Bel gestures for him to step outside now that he's not there ruining it anymore
[21:13] <Thingymabob> He steps out
[21:13] <Thingymabob> And glares at you
[21:13] <Thingymabob> Before continuing on
[21:13] <Thingymabob> The elevator is now yours
[21:13] <Thingymabob> To do with as you please
[21:13]  * Lysander_Bel presses the button to go back down and get out of this man's way
[21:14] <Thingymabob> The elevator goes much faster than it did on the way up
[21:14] <Thingymabob> You can only guess this is thanks to gravity
[21:14] <Thingymabob> Good ol gravity
[21:14] <Thingymabob> You are now at the ground floor
[21:14] <Lysander_Bel> Makes sense to me
[21:15] <Lysander_Bel> Gravity is that thing that pushes stuff down, right?
[21:15] <Thingymabob> I sure hope so
[21:15] <Lysander_Bel> And yeah, falling is fast
[21:15] <Lysander_Bel> Well there we go then.  Mystery solved
[21:15] <Thingymabob> In the elevator opposite you stands a young human male
[21:16] <Thingymabob> The door closes and they leave
[21:16] <Thingymabob> Weird right
[21:17] <Lysander_Bel> Maybe, yeah.  Lysander has all of zero experience with people, but leaving seems like a reasonable reaction to him showing up
[21:17] <Thingymabob> Seems like a reasonable plan
[21:18] <Thingymabob> You are waiting in the elevator
[21:18] <Thingymabob> People are standing outside
[21:18] <Thingymabob> They look annoyed
[21:18]  * Lysander_Bel gets out of the elevator and stops wasting all their time
[21:19] <Thingymabob> They don't thank you
[21:19]  * Lysander_Bel doesn't deserve to be thanked anyway
[21:19] <Thingymabob> They just push past you
[21:19] <Thingymabob> You are now all alone in a hallway
[21:19] <Thingymabob> Except for the valet
[21:19] <Thingymabob> He waves
[21:19]  * Lysander_Bel tries to track down the valet from- oh cool there he is
[21:19] <Thingymabob> He asks if you enjoyed the roof
[21:20] <Lysander_Bel> "I... yeah.  That was pretty amazing.  Thanks"
[21:20] <Thingymabob> He says that's great
[21:20] <Thingymabob> He says someone came looking for you
[21:20] <Thingymabob> He says they were flying
[21:20] <Lysander_Bel> "Yeah?"
[21:20]  * Lysander_Bel blinks
[21:20] <Lysander_Bel> "Wait"
[21:21] <Thingymabob> He says it was nice that they weren't dirtying the rug
[21:21] <Lysander_Bel> "Who did they actually ask for?"
[21:21] <Thingymabob> He says the thing from the rubble
[21:22] <Lysander_Bel> "Oh.  Yeah, that makes sense"
[21:22]  * Lysander_Bel laughs.  "I'm a thing"
[21:23] <Lysander_Bel> "Real question is who'd be dumb enough to try and spend time near me"
[21:23] <Thingymabob> The valet laughs too
[21:23] <Thingymabob> The valet shrugs
[21:23] <Thingymabob> He says he knows better than to ask for names
[21:23] <Lysander_Bel> "Fair, fair"
[21:24] <Lysander_Bel> "Well, they're probably better off like this anyway"
[21:25] <Lysander_Bel> "Considering the alternative would have been finding me, eh?"
[21:25] <Thingymabob> He says it would probably be alright to meet you
[21:25] <Thingymabob> He then adds that he'd be alright with doing it again
[21:26] <Lysander_Bel> "You, mon ami, are mistaken"
[21:26] <Lysander_Bel> "Armpit of the human race, here"
[21:27] <Lysander_Bel> "You'd probably be better off with the people who spit at you"
[21:27] <Thingymabob> He says you can't be that bad
[21:27] <Lysander_Bel> "Lies and slander!"
[21:27]  * Lysander_Bel waves his arms in an exaggerated manner
[21:28] <Thingymabob> He says that your better than alot of people he's met
[21:28] <Lysander_Bel> "Knew this wasn't heaven"
[21:29] <Lysander_Bel> "Who're you then, Mekratrig?"
[21:29] <Thingymabob> Before he can answer you get a tap on your shoulder
