Animal Crossing All Debts FAQ

Q: You can speedrun Animal Crossing?
A: Yeah you can speedrun pretty much anything you can imagine. This run works due to glitches allowing item duplication.

Q: Doesn't this game have no end?
A: That's correct, which is why Fasch created the category All Debts, which pays off all the debt you owe to Tom Nook throughout the game.Time starts on reset and ends when your character dances after completing payment of the last debt.

Q: So how does the run work exactly?
A: Right well, the run must take place with the time set to March 20th at around 12:00 PM. This way once you finish your chores you can talk to Tortimer and he will give you an item to celebrate the Sports Fair, which is a Spring Medal. This item is fast to get and sells for 14,000 bells, making it a perfect item to duplicate. Once you duplicate it 101 times you will have enough bells to pay off the final debt.

Q: So how does the duplication glitch work?
A: First there is a glitch called WoT (Walk on Table) which, as it sounds, allows your character to walk on a table. Here's a link to an explanation of how to WoT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRvs14tXrVA
From here, if you drop an item on the table and the proceed to pick up the table, the item will float freely and also take the tables properties (I think.) If you then place a Tape Deck on top of the item (we think Tape Deck works because you can interact with it, needs testing) the Tape Deck will go high into the ceiling. From here, if you leave your house and then enter, the Tape Deck and the item you're duplicating will switch, and the item on top will be glitched/corrupted. From here, any time you exit and reenter the room, the item will reappear above the Tape Deck.

Q: Why are Nook Codes allowed?
A: This was a decision made by the community at the time (Me and Fasch) to attempt to reduce resets. If not for Nook Codes you'd be resetting over tables until you went insane. The codes are in the game and not really what I'd consider 'cheat codes" and even if they were this isn't any% so we decided to allow them.

Q: Why are you resetting when you see the map?
A: Unfortunately the game is optimized enough now that I need to reset until I get a good town layout (Store and Post Office in acres A-2 and 1-4) if I want a shot at a good time.

It is important to note that the item being duplicated must occupy 3D space and can't be a sprite (ie money bag.)
