- Khârn was always loyal to Angron. Never did the thought of betrayal cross his mind. Until it happened. Khârn watched as his father, Angron, turn into a monstrosity the likes of which he has never seen. He stood idly by as this... thing killed the last of the librarius, sons just as loyal as he to Angron. But the death that stung him the worst was that of Lhorke, the former legion master of the Warhounds. Lhorke had taught Khârn all he knew of combat, which was what made him the savage fighter he was. Khârn was loyal to Angron. But this thing was no longer Angron. This revelation lifted a haze from his mind, a crimson fog that reaked of blood and brass. Khârn left Neuceria that day, armor scorched black and stripped of all heraldry. And never once did he look back.
- His legion would later name him Betrayer. But Khârn was always loyal, but not to the thing that his legion had become.
- When Arga-Tal of the Gal-Vorbak learned of Khârn's dissaperence at the battle of Neuceria, she was concerned. She had always harbored feelings for the Captian, though she did well to hide them. Few truely knew of her longing for him, save Loraine, Erebus, and the daemon she shared her soul with: Raum. Raum promised her that she and Khârn would live eternally, together in under the light of the pantheon they would never leave each others side. Many times she had tried to draw Khârn into worship, but each time he rebuffed her. Arga-Tal would keep trying, however, for the future she was promised was destined to be. But now she worried. The daemon told her that she yet lived, but every moment Khârn was out of reach was a moment in agony. Arga-Tal knew Khârn was not one for romance, him being one of the last few World Eaters sired from Terra, but she would never stop in her quest to win his heart and bring him to the light of Chaos.

- The search for the Betrayer.
- News of the Betrayal of Khârn the Bloody spread through the ranks of both loyal and traitor marines like wildfire. The traitor legions sought to capture or kill the Betrayer to prevent the spread of sensitive information, for the equerry to a Primarch knows much.
- The Loyalist too sought to find him, the prize that is a Legion Chapion was too great to pass up. The information that can be learned would be invaluable to the Loyalist, therefore the best of the best from the Officio Assasinorum were spread throughout the galaxy in the search of the so called Betrayer.
- Robute Guilliman in particular sought the Betrayer. Robute had known of Khârns pivotal role in the battles of both Armatura, Neuceria, and many other worlds belonging to the five hundred. Whether Robute wanted him in revenge of the worlds burned or for the tactical boon the Betrayer might share is unknown.

- >Khârn stood over the broken body of an Imperial Fist
- >the regal yellow stained with quickly clotting blood
- >the legionnaire gargled out something
- >to Khârn it was nothing but a wet cough
- >but he knew what he was trying to say
- "Betrayer."
- >Khârn said for him
- "That is what I am called, yes?"
- >the quickly fading lenses seemed to brighten momentarily
- "I do not think that. No, I am not the Betrayer here."
- >the legionnaire tried to move his arm, grasping for the broken bolt pistol that lay just out of reach
- >Khârn did nothing
- "I did not betray anyone. I am loyal to my legion, not to the horde of butchers it has become."
- >Khârn laughed to himself
- "Though, you could say we always were. My Brothers when we were still known as the Warhounds were infamous for our savagery even before the nails."
- >the back of Khârns skull itched
- >the nails demanded blood
- "But after we united with our Lady Primarch was when we truely took up that mantle."
- >Khârn placed a boot upon the shattered breastplate of the Fist
- "Savagery wasn't all we were, though. We were all brothers, bound by blood and fury. We killed with each other and would gladly lay down our lives for the man at our side."
- >Khârn sighed and looked down to his bear left arm
- "But that changed after D'esha."
- >the fist gurgled once more but Khârn paid him no mind
- "When we learned that our Lord Primarch was in fact a Lady Primarch, we did not fret. And why should we have? She was our progenitor. Our Primarch! We were among the last few to find them, we were happy she was alive"
- >Khârn stepped off the Fist and began to pace back and forth
- "When she killed every Captian but me, I was loyal. When she ordered us to mutilate our minds with the butchers nails, I was loyal. When she fought Russ, another damned Primarch, I was loyal."
- >Khârn clenched his fist as he continued
- "When Sanguinius came to her and asked her to betray the emperor, I was loyal. When we burned world full of innocence for the crime of loyalty, I was loyal. When we pillaged the five hundred worlds, I was loyal."
- >Khârn closed his eyes and continued to speak
- "When she was turned into that... thing, I was loyal. When she killed the last of the Librarius, loyal sons all, I was loyal. When she... when she killed the former Legion master, the man who taught me all he knew, I was loyal."
- >the Imperial fist ceased moving all together, but he was still alive
- "I am loyal to my Primarch. I am loyal to my legion. I am loyal. But not to what they have become. That thing isn't my Primarch. That band of savages aren't the brothers and sisters I once knew."
- >the Imperial Fist twitched and spasmed one last time
- >Khârn's kill counter ticked up one
- "I am loyal. And I always will be."
