- Jerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move.
- Jerry Shaw is an amiable slacker with an over-achieving twin brother. After his twin dies in an accident, strange things happen to Jerry at a dizzying pace: a fortune shows up in his bank account, weapons are delivered to his flat, and a voice on his cell phone tells him the police are on their way. Jerry follows the voice's instructions, and soon he and a woman he's never met are racing through the city, on to a plane, and eventually to the Pentagon, chased by the FBI. She is Rachel Holloman, a single mom; the voice has threatened her son's death if she doesn't cooperate. The voice seems to know everything. Who is behind it, what is being planned, and why Jerry and Rachel?
- Steven Spielberg and D.J.Caruso together deliver one hell of an entertainer. Eagle Eye doesn't let you settle down for a minute, it just keeps you at the edge of your seat. The concept is almost similar to that of Stealth but there are moments in Eagle Eye that cannot be taken away from. A 118 minutes of spine chilling entertainment is what Eagle Eye turns out to be....<br/><br/>Jerry Shaw (Shia LeBeouf), a Stanford University drop out running in huge financial crisis comes to know about his twin brother, Ethan is dead. Back Home he finds his apartment filled with a large amount of forged weapons, explosives and forged documents with a phone call from an unknown woman to take every step as per her instructions. In his escape from the FBI he joins with a single mother Rachel Holman (Michelle Monaghan) whose son's life is in stake if she doesn't follow the woman's instructions. The woman helps the pair to avoid the FBI units, with the ability to remotely control virtually any networked device, such as traffic lights, cell phones and even automated cranes and spews venom who defies her instructions and crosses her path. Meanwhile FBI agent Thomas Morgan (Billy Bob Thornton) and special agent Zoe Perez continue with the chase of the pair unaware of the reason behind the escape.<br/><br/>The woman turns out to be a top secret super-computer called ARIA tasked with gathering intelligence from all over the world that can control virtually anything electronic to that end. Because of the mistake made by the President, ARIA decides that the executive branch is a threat to the public good and must be eliminated. Finally both Jerry and Rachel successfully manage to save President's life along with the subsequent destruction of ARIA.<br/><br/>Transformers, Indiana Jones and now Eagle Eye, Shia LaBeouf's freaking panic streak continues in this one. It looks as if he was born with a button named Panic in him. But still his predictable sense of humor fits in quite well. Michelle Monaghan was very convincing in her emotional and sensitive role. Both had nothing much to show as far as acting is concerned in this action thriller. Billy Bob Thornton comes back after a long time but there is nothing much left for him in the baggage.<br/><br/>Regardless of its story Eagle Eye never bores you at any moment. The action sequences are simply brilliant that will blow off your mind right from the word go. Spielberg makes his presence feel in this one at every point. It's not excellent but still it proves out to be an unrealistic roller coaster ride. So just sit back and have fun. Check here incubation360.com
- It's very rare that I think a film's such a waste of time at the halfway mark that I don't even feel like finishing it. This is one of those rare films. There's an unfortunate trend to make chase movies with quick cut editing, interlaced with CGI, lit very darkly to hide the fact that what you are watching is as unreal as most of it looks. Take away enough reality and you take away emotional involvement from the audience. There's no sense of danger and no feeling of wanting to shout, "Look out! Go there!" Car chases can be very exciting. It doesn't take a big budget to make a great car chase either. Look at any low budget action flick directed by Joseph Mehri (Executive Target, Land Of The Free) and you'll see that real cars, driven by real stunt people, shown in broad daylight, and in wide shots are far more exciting than close-ups of "stars" sitting in a studio in front of a blue screen mixed with quick cuts of darkly lit cars and/or CGI cars. When you can't tell which cars are which or where the cars are in relation to each other, you don't get too excited when the inevitable crashes and explosions occur. Apart from the horribly choreographed and edited car chases, train wrecks (man, that looked fake!), and running scenes is the fact that what is going on is impossible. When I saw cranes moving on their own in a junkyard picking up what I assume were high speed cop cars (again, you can't tell what's going on in the action scenes since they're so dark and individual camera shots last one second at times), I almost puked. Cranes are clunky, awkward machines. Yet they can pluck cop cars up from a 90 mph chase? Gimme a break. If this was The Transformers, fine, but it's supposed to be a real world suspense thriller. It's tough to care about any of what's going on since it's all just too unbelievable, cliché ridden, poorly lit, and quickly edited. Plus, the CGI looks awful. I read somebody's comment about the CGI being very good. Are people getting so used to putting up with fake looking CGI that they are used to it as just the way it is? That's sad. Give me real cars, real stunt people, lighting, and a story that's believable enough to be somewhat emotionally involving. Give me leading characters that I would want to have a beer with instead of wanting to punch in the face for being a sarcastic little know-it-all jerk. If that's what kids today consider a characteristic to aspire to, they're going to meet an awful lot of people in the real world who aren't going to put up with it for very long. Thumbs way down for this train wreck of a "film".
- A brain-squandering thriller.
- Screenwriter Dan McDermott wrote the original script for Eagle Eye based on an idea by American director Steven Spielberg. When Spielberg was replaced as director by D.J. Caruso, McDermott's script was rewritten by screenwriters Eli Attie, John Glenn, Travis Wright, and Hillary Seitz. It is four time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore. This was confirmed by Rosario Dawson. Moore chose to be uncredited. Nope, not this time. Just your standard end credits. While Ariia's 73% unsaved memory was destroyed by Perez, her 27% saved is probably nowhere near as powerful and is therefore useless, wherever it may be. Other theories could be that the saved memory will return in a possible though improbable sequel, or that the memory was never actually saved and all of Ariia was destroyed at the same time, or the saved memory was found and destroyed. The most likely theory would be the latter since a sequel will probably never be in the works. There is an alternate ending that set up a sequel in which Sam was contacted by Ariia through his Xbox. However, that ending was not used, and therefore no other possible continuity is being set up for later on. a5c7b9f00b
