  4. Okay, finding that college green also allowed me to find the old storybook ones.
  5.
  6. >The King was sat by the river one day. His kingdom was prosperous, and his people happy. But there was loneliness in his heart.
  7. >Suddenly he was taken from his thoughts by one of the river people.
  8. >"Move thyself!" this young woman commanded of him. "For here is where I launch my raft!"
  9. >The King was outraged. How dare a peasant speak to him like that.
  10. >"Does thou know of whom thou speak?" The king roared. "For I am King of this land, and water."
  11. >The fisherwoman was in unimpressed.
  12. >"Thou say you are king of this water and of this land, yet it is not by the power of thee that the river flows, and we have lived upon this land before the dynasty of thou was made."
  13. >The King felt humbled, and allowed her to launch her raft wherever she chose, as long as she be his wife.
  14. >But the fisherwoman laughed. "Thou are mistaken. For it is thou that shall be my husband."
  15.
  16. >The Prince was walking through the forest one day, when he heard distant lute strings.
  17. >Upon following the tune he found, sat upon a branch, a young woman of the forest.
  18. >"Was that thou who was playing such music?" asked the prince.
  19. >"Yes," said the wildwoman, "And now I have taken thou from your path, and only I may take thou back."
  20. >The Prince was known for his swiftness of foot, so challenged this young woman to a race.
  21. >"If I catches thee, thou will not only guide me back to the path, but also be my wife."
  22. >The young woman agreed, and took off suddenly through the forest.
  23. >The chase was long, but soon he caught her hand.
  24. >He noticed however that she had intended to be caught seeing himself back on the path.
  25. >"But," she said. "Thou are of the pathway, and I am of the wilds, and as such cannot go back with you."
  26. >The Prince and the Wildwoman exchanged keepsakes to tie their bond.

  30. >The Swordsman had neither his father's strength nor his brother's swiftness.
  31. >So when, by his honour, he was challenged to slay a dragon terrorising a farm, he knew only his cunning would save him.
  32. >Upon entering the dragon's cave he saw her sat upon a mound of loot.
  33. >"Who is it that dare enter my lair?" roared the dragon.
  34. >"I am a swordsman, here to make amends for the misery thou has caused."
  35. >The dragon's rage grew.
  36. >"Thou speaks of misery? Does thou not see my dwellings?"
  37. >Seeing the small cave, the Swordsman felt pity for the dragon.
  38. >"Thou have amassed a meagre collection for the suffering thee has caused, but I propose a trade."
  39. >"What dost thou have in exchange for these goods."
  40. >"I offer you myself, for I am of the royal line."
  41. >The dragon agreed to the terms, returned the goods to the owners, and her days were filled with happiness that only freely given riches can provide.
