  2. Hello, welcome to the interview discord for the ST Actor Sect. We won't start immediately, so in the mean time I'd ask for you to prepare three event scenarios for me in the next day or two. They don't have to be too convoluted or indepth. Just want a rough scenario for 1-5 people, 5-10 people and then a bigger eventline overall. This is just to gauge your thinking and see where your mindset is at in regarding events. Ping me when you've finished that and we can get started on the actual interview. @Treshure

  6. Sorry joel, been getting bent backwards by work + back to back interviews.
  7. I'll get to work on this tonight!
  8. TreshureYesterday at 3:38 PM
  9. I’ll be focusing on the themes of the events rather than the concrete details of every individual one. Each event will have a specific purpose behind it, curtailed to the amount of players participating.
  10.
  11.
  12. 1: 1-5 people. Call me crazy, but I don’t like ET fights past 5 people. Can they be done? Sure. But will it be done to the consistency and quality that you might want? Entirely different story. For 1-5 people, I’m going for a combat styled event. By coordinating with the city’s guard OOCly, I’ll arrange for them to send a small patrol party ideally composed of new players - their party will be ambushed by forest bandits. An emote battle will follow suit. I’ve chosen new players for two reasons - 1, they’re young enough to suspend their disbelief of randomly getting ambushed. 2, this random, exciting event will be especially potent to a new player. Their continuing role (in the 5-10) will propel them as leaders of the story, despite their relative brief standing with the community.
  13. 2: 5-10 people. After dealing with the bandits, the 1-5 group will uncover a compass and map detailing the bandit’s hideout. With the implication it is heavily guarded, the 1-5 group will return to the city to get more help. A few things here. The 1-5 group gets to explain the situation to the presumably higher ups within this fictional town. Imagine interacting with the Kings and officials when you were new. It was exciting, captivating, and it tied you further into the community. When they lead this 5-10 group back towards the hideout, the 1-5 group will possess a more intricate knowledge of the initial bandits. This continues to aid them as the heroes of the story.
  14.
  15. Once we get above a certain number, RP combat encounters start to decline in quality. In contrast, I’d never allow myself to do a PvE event. Therefore, the conflict faced at the bandit hideout will be minimal. The real meat of the event will be within - plans and clues that hint towards an assault on the fictional town/any other looming and mysterious threat. I ran an event last map where Imperial citizens had to piece together potential terrorist attacks through the clues of the event. It draws people in. With 5-10, they can piggyback on each other’s intuitions on what the clues may actually entail.
  16. 3: Overall Eventline. For an overall eventline, I want to draw players into the wonders of their own environment. An ideal event line is one that capitalizes on the things players already are familiarized with. I’d work with the plot of a ‘Murder Mystery’, starting with a mysterious and unsolved death in the ranks of the city’s aristocracy. To solve this, players would have to venture beyond their own city in search of clues - but also within. Questioning shop clerks, following evidence, and fully exploring an entire set already made available to the Story Team.

  18. From here we'll commence the interview. You do not have to answer everything immediately, just whenever you have time to formulate a response. Want you to be as thorough as you wish with the answers to these questions. I may ask for clarification or expansion if necessary. And as always, this'll be reviewed by Xarkly and Myself and potentially the rest of the ST management when deciding if you are going to go on the team.
  19. What do you believe are your strengths as a roleplayer and a potential ST member?
  20. TreshureToday at 2:44 PM
  21. Roleplaying is like any other skill - you get good through repetition and repeated learning. Thats been my method of madness since 2012. I've got a strong understanding of what makes good roleplay - that being a passion for immersion and compelling narratives. Its not hot air, either. I've been ET a ^lot^ of times. These gaps haven't been because I was removed for incompetence. It was regrettably inactivity. I've been incredibly detailed throughout my events and have always (in my mind) delivered a good story. What I've done is what I'll continue to do.
  22. joelToday at 2:56 PM
  23. What interests you about joining the ST (Actor sect specifically)?
  24. TreshureToday at 3:09 PM
  25. Carrying out a story is just as important as writing one. And for the longest time (in the ET), the process was one in the same. I enjoy executing scenarios just as much as the writing that goes behind it.
  26. joelToday at 3:09 PM
  27. What is your biggest weakness as a roleplayer?
  28. TreshureToday at 3:13 PM
  29. I'm in a unique position as someone who's advocated for hardcore, immersive RP and yet having had been on the inner circles of PvP groups like the flays. Sometimes I still feel that knee jerk mentality switch between valuing the story and experience vs. seeing red and destroying your enemies. That toxic part is buried deep in there, but that has to be my biggest weakness - the occasional urge to slip into an aggressive and OOCly driven mindset.
  30. joelToday at 3:23 PM
  31. What would your goals/objectives be for joining the ST. Are you coming in here on an agenda or is it something more broad?
  32. TreshureToday at 3:33 PM
  33. I want to really test my event making skills. That's the main thing. I usually juggled ET with my own RP ambitions, but now I'm finding everyday cookie cutter RP to be increasingly mundane and a general waste of time. My central goal is to take the time I have available to me and pour my heart and soul into crafting immersive events that help restore the reputation of the ST. I also want to work in media as a way to advertise this all, but thats a different topic.
  34. joelToday at 3:44 PM
  35. What do you think is your limit on the amount of players you could handle in an event scenario by yourself?
  36. TreshureToday at 3:48 PM
  37. Gets real fucky after eight, man. It depends. I've done combat scenarios before, and once it gets above 7-8, I just can't keep track anymore. Then again, I've done some investigative events where players searched through areas and deduced findings. There, it was literally just me and about 50 people. How many you can handle depends on the type of event. If the event relies on your intuition and guidance, there is definitely a breaking point. If the event itself can shoulder that burden you can significantly raise the cap.
  38. joelToday at 4:20 PM
  39. Anything you would change or disagree with on the ST? (Think of feedback from about the last year or so)
  40. TreshureToday at 4:25 PM
  41. Event advertisement needs to be more streamlined. Make it public on the forums and cap the player attendance. Its insurance against people who complain for lack of events and its a better way in general to get word out of what your ST is up to. My two cents anyway
  42. joelToday at 4:38 PM
  43. What would you be focused on creating on the ST? (Events specifically, the style and what you want to achieve.)
  44. TreshureToday at 4:54 PM
  45. I take up any kind of event so long as it sounds cool. I've done high fantasy, low fantasy, drawn out eventlines and random encounters. I just want to give them a life of their own. I'd like to stick to the elven and human playerbases, though.
  46. joelToday at 4:55 PM
  47. Okay, and that's about it. Anything specific you'd like to ask me?
  48. I'm happy to answer any and all questions in regards to the team or anything you're curious about
  49. TreshureToday at 4:56 PM
  50. What do y'all got planned for the map
  51. joelToday at 4:56 PM
  52. Classified.
  53. TreshureToday at 4:56 PM
  54. then thats it
