  1. For the next 3 months, I will be participating in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories Duelist Kingdom speedrunning tournament. This tournament will use the 15-card mod of the game.
  2.
  3. This event will have similar rules to the tournament held in Season 1 of the anime. There are 63 duelists, and each will begin the tournament with 3 star chips. Anyone can challenge anyone at any time to a 1-on-1 race. The winner of the race gains 1 star chip. The loser of the race loses 1 star chip. Starting April 2, the eight duelists with the most star chips will participate in a two-week double elimination bracket to determine the tournament winner, aka "King of Games."

  5. Here is the leaderboard for the tournament: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HIo8NqkpfwSFwlOZ4xJ6arIdAvrb5RBpt6bkeV7FniE/edit#gid=0
  6.
  7. A few more rules to note:
  8. 1) Accepting a challenge is not required. Duelists can turn down challenges for any reason.
  9. 2) Duelists may wager more than 1 star chip in order to incentivize other duelists to accept their challenge. However, both duelists cannot wager multiple star chips. For example, I can offer 2 star chips to win 1 from my opponent, but we cannot both wager 2 star chips.
  10. 3) Each duelist may race up to twice per day.

  13. Tournament FAQ
  14. ---------------
  15.
  16. Q: What's the 15-card drop mod?
  17. A: You win 15 cards per duel instead of 1. That's it.
  18.
  19. Q: What are you playing on?
  20. A: ePSXe, an emulator for PS1 games.
  21.
  22. Q: What is your strategy for the tournament?
  23. A: I want to race regularly (at least 3 times per week) so that I don't fall too far behind other active, skilled runners. I also want each race to give me an expected star chip value of greater than 0. If I'm wagering 1 star chip, that just means I consider myself a favorite to win. If I'm wagering 2 star chips, that means I consider myself at least 67% likely to win. If 3 star chips, 75% likely. Etc.
  24.
  25. In terms of my gameplay, I ideally want to farm a combination of Pegasus A-TECs and Meadow SA-POWs until my deck has about a 50% chance of beating the Final 7. An example of such a deck would be 15 dragons, 12 thunders, 4 normal equips, 2 Megamorphs, 1 MBD, 1 Dark Magician, 3 Widespreads, and 2 DCJs. However, it is more important to be the first one to reach the Final 7. I might skip some farming and enter the Final 7 with a 35-40% chance if it allows me to keep the lead. If my opponent skips farming entirely and rushes to Final 7 with a weak deck, I will lose if they get lucky.
  26.
  27. Q: Who are the top runners?
  28. A: To my knowledge, they are A3r1uS, tato, Dark_Rit, BadNewsNate, windssunrise1, GFC and myself. I don't know every runner, so I might have missed a few.
  29.
  30. Q: What do you look for in a starting deck?
  31. A: I will take almost any deck with Raigeki as the starting magic. If I have Dark Hole instead, I will only take the deck if it has good monsters AND an equip that works on Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon. That can be Dark Energy, Beast Fangs, Invigoration, Dragon Treasure, or Horn of Light. The most important monsters to start with are Thunders, Dragons, Beasts, females, and Pyros.
