Talvez seja o sorriso desenhado nos lábios sempre cor de carmim desde seus doze anos, quando a avó materna lhe ensinou que um dos maiores atos de resistência do feminismo foi o das mulheres passarem batons vermelhos, que eram sempre condenados e tidos como coisa de prostitutas ou bruxas. Claro que ela também conseguiu se tornar popular; linda, parecia uma boneca de porcelana com aqueles olhos azuis intensos, e fala de tudo com todos. Não era uma aluna popular mesquinha, muito pelo contrário; tinha amigos no grupo de teatro, mas também no futebol e no hóquei ── esse último era inevitável, afinal, ela era a atacante do time feminino. Dona de boas notas, foi oradora de sua turma na <i>ungdomsskole</i>, e as coisas permanecem exatamente iguais agora. Não a toa que era o orgulho da família, tanto materna quanto paterna. Então, com o passar dos anos, Elsa aprendeu a camuflar seus sentimentos e evitar questionamentos.
