- “You know this is all your fault, right?”
- “Trust me, lass, I dinnae think that this would ‘appen.” With that, a pair of canines press their backs against each other, the thick rope that was currently keeping them bound quietly digging into their midsections.
- “All your fault.”
- “So y’ keep tellin’ me.”
- “And you’re not gonna do anything about it?”
- “I will iffin’ y’ give me a bit, eh?” With that, the larger of the two canines, the one with the dark fur, rolls his eyes. The two of them had been at this for the past half-hour at this point, and there was only so much he could take. Add in the fact that the pirate crew that had tied them up prior to this whole debacle had left their ship without so much as a “how do you do” - though, the one thing they did leave was causing an unwanted amount of stress for the two of them: bundle after bundle after bundle of lit dynamite scattered around the two of them.
- “Look, how the hell was I supposed t’ know tha’ there were gonna be pirates of all things?”
- “Well, for one, I’d think the name ‘Scallywag’s Reef’ would give it away.”
- “You hush it - I’m tryin’, y’ know.” Even then, the two of them couldn’t help but glance toward the bundles of explosives scattered around them, a growing dread quietly starting to well its way up front the pit of their stomachs.
- “Then try faster! I don’t wanna be ashed by all of this!”
- “Almost…!”
- SNAP…!
- And with that, the rope that had wound itself around the larger of the two canines goes limp in his lap, the sense of urgency on his face flashing to joy for only a split second before he remembers his situation - almost immediately, he quickly takes his sharpened claws and swipes them across the smaller canine’s bonds, causing hers to go limp as well.
- “Thank fuck…! Let’s get the fuck out of here!”
- “Don’t have to tell me twice, you know!” Without another word, the two of them scramble up from their spot on the ground before sprinting their way out through the door at the far end of the room - almost immediately the feeling of the cool night air greets them before the sight of a lifeboat meets their gaze. A moment later, and the two of them are rowing their way out into the open water, the soon-to-be shattered ship quickly starting to make its way away from-
- KRA-KOOOOM!
- The two of them quickly dive beneath the rim of their boat as splinters quickly start to rain from the air, partway charred and broken.
- “Fuuuuck… Cannae believe we actually got away from tha’.”
- “Guh… You’re telling me, Gid’...”
- “Ez, lass, uh… I dinnae think we’re outta th’ drink yet.”
- “Huh?” As the shorter canine lifts her gaze, the first thing she sees is a massive pair of tentacles quickly squirming their way around their boat.
- And then, water.
