  1. Note 1 (2:27): This is referring to frame timers, such as a boss rolling around for n frames, or fire throwing animations, things like that. The game's time-tracking timers such as crowns, timed events, bonus barrels, etc. actually use real time in a very accurate way regardless of the amount of lag, so a minigame like Minecart Mayhem or battle crowns can't be sped up.
  2.
  3. Note 2 (9:09): The galleon seal race GB isn't actually a copy, it's the same GB given during the ending cutscene. The game usually just prevents this by warping you out before moving the GB into place.
  4.
  5. Note 3 (12:10): In this case though, it's a pretty important oversight. There's nothing preventing you from climbing up to Aztec lobby at the start of the game and dropping down onto the boulder. It's honestly not that big a stretch to imagine that some poor kid in 1999 didn't know where to go and ended up doing that by accident.
  6.
  7. Note 4 (12:17): Although Aztec early was done in Kutout Kongs, it's not worth doing it in Organic Kongs, because the Aztec lobby door is one of a few double-sided gates/doors in the game. If you enter the lobby early, you won't be able to walk out without softlocking the game. The only way out of Aztec is to reset, which is a 35-second hit because of the game's startup sequence and menus. In fact, even the Kutout route does turn in Key 1 before returning to Aztec, so to not reset out of the level twice, and because of the order in which keys are turned in.
  8.
  9. Note 5 (16:23): The Kutout Kongs route collects 4 rainbow coins before entering Creepy Castle 12 minutes in, but it does collect a fifth one later, along with a few singles, to even out the count for all the move buying.
  10.
  11. Note 6 (20:34): Because the igloo is an object and not level geometry, this actually isn't a floor and a wall that are misaligned. Similarly to how all the push clips work, one side of the igloo wall pushes you through the other and you end up inside.
  12.
  13. Note 7 (28:13): The main reason for doing that banana in Castle 1 is because the first time that you tag a Kong, Squawks always comes in and talks about how they, too, have golden bananas to collect. If you're in Creepy Castle or if you already have a golden banana with that Kong, he won't talk to you, however. So, by tagging Tiny in Creepy Castle and grabbing a golden banana with her, that Squawks cutscene is skipped for the rest of the run.
  14.
  15. Note 8 (30:03): You need to make sure to do this before loading the cannon game room, so immediately upon entering the level is the obvious choice. Despite that the camera pans through the first tunnel, the cannon game room isn't loaded in the cutscene that plays when you enter Galleon for the first time. Nonetheless, the typical Galleon route has you do that trick after reentering the level after leaving through the pause menu after Chunky's primate punch golden banana.
  16.
  17. Note 9 (45:06): Lower Factory times had been done before - in fact, Znernicus's 5:50 run featured a 40:13 - but this run was done after a reroute that included Factory Lobby's collectibles in the middle of the level, during a pause exit. With the way level times are typically calculated, this added about 1:20 to Frantic Factory while taking away the same amount from DK Isles. It's possible to measure level times with more granularity, but the figures runners are used to are derived from split times, so I used that same method to time levels.
  18.
  19. Note 10 (47:45): The Creepy Castle time is kind of annoying to measure because it's done in two visits. His 49:19 is the fastest Castle in a WR with the Castle Kongs route. TJ has had a 48 Castle before in Organic Kongs, and it is possible that Znernicus had a faster Castle in a failed run before, although that is pretty unlikely. If you combined his best splits from Castle 1 and Castle 2, you would get a 48:37. Also, Aztec being split in two visits means that his fastest combined Aztec was 41:58, but the sum of his fastest Aztec 1 and Aztec 2 splits is 41:53. Finally, his total Isles time was the fastest in a world record run, but it's impossible to measure if he ever had a faster overall Isles time before.
