A golden retriever in human form, who’s always there to perk you up and be there for you through thick and thin, and always knows how to liven up a scene. Easy to open up to, but hard to read beyond his confidence.

Someone who's 50 and doesn't mind it for the most part, and is a little concerned he can pass as a 20-something so easily. In a way, he's a bit childish like that.

Stunningly competent civil rights (common law) lawyer by day, frat bro by night.
It’s one part having a young man’s hangover, one part the ease of grabbing a bite compared to an older crowd that's less likely to get blackout drunk. (While he doesn’t enjoy vampirism, he doesn’t find it necessary to punish himself with a harder hunt. It is harder on him mentally, though.)
While he does have a reputation to uphold as a lawyer, his work is just far enough from the local university scene that it causes less issues than one may think.
Sometimes dabbles with cougars closer to his age, but they want things he thinks he can’t give. He’s sort of young at heart like that.

When implicated in a crime he didn’t commit in late summer 1989, he signed his soul to the devil to avoid jail without hesitation. This is the first sign that martyrdom actually doesn’t fit him.
While most vampires keep their demon contractor at arm’s length, he notably summoned his demon as soon as possible and successfully renegotiated certain clauses to be able to speak freely with his parents. He denies any suggestions that this kick started his passion for law, since it would give those circumstances credit.

A major hypocrite with self-esteem issues. He has great potential that he stops himself from achieving due to immense self-loathing.
Merrily adopted by the vampire community due to his youth and potential, he vehemently rejects most gifts and favors given to him. They’re fine with playing the waiting game, though. And, well, they win. Yvonne does, anyway, because they end up working together quite a lot after the game.

Went to Harvard or something similar because there's no kill like overkill. His parents live in another state, which he purposefully did to distance himself from them while he sees them age. However, he still talks with them frequently and visits on the holidays. They didn't mind vampirism at all.

He doesn’t like vampirism because he views it as being more parasitic than a normal human being, purposefully taking advantage of people and harming them for his own benefit. However, he’s afraid of death and what’s on the other side. He realizes that most vampires have similar personality traits (even if applied differently) and dislikes the implication that he’s the same sort of person as someone as ruthless and cruel as Yvonne. While he looks up to the Doctor, well, love is blind.

Has a soft spot for Bernard since, while the man has his own goals, he struck a chord with Forrest during the (vampiric) formative years. He holds Yvonne’s at an arm’s length since she’s more blatant about her flexing.

The vampire he takes the least seriously is Madison. While he does mean well and is willing to help her, he still tiptoes around her a little since she's so involved with Yvonne, Bernard, and the society he doesn’t like to associate with.

He wants to be married and with kids one day, but doesn't find it feasible with vampirism, and worries both that he actually isn’t mature enough for that, but also that most people who would find out about vampirism would either be vampires (aka someone he probably doesn't want as a partner because of the usual subterfuge) or someone just... odd, and won't see him as a person. He can envision a future with the doctor, and has received mixed signals about it. However, while he still has hope, another part of him has slowly been going through the acceptance of the situation. The mixed signals are annoying, though.

Likes Diana's company, and likes what she represents - youth not bogged down by vampirism. While she obviously isn't a pure maiden or whatever, she's just a normal kid going through normal kid stuff, and he does have a decent heart so he wants to be there to help support her. They're in a mutual position of admiring the people that each other wants to be, and he admires her constant drive to try and improve herself.

Wants to be someone with a good head on his shoulders and an untwisted sense of justice, even as a lawyer. Tends to do volunteering work and similar actions because he sincerely enjoys helping, but also worries that he does this for the sake of "goodness."

In a weird position where he knows he’s overstepping lines of social appropriateness by hanging out with Diana like he does but also sort of cares? Doesn’t care at the same time? There’s a lot of things he knows he shouldn’t does and he does it anyway, even though he’s wound up about a lot. He shouldn't be fucking a 21 year old, but also she's an adult, and also she seems to understand him without being weird about it, and also, and also...

Basically, even when he does start to date Diana, he likely tries to hide himself away since being honest is a bit hard for him. It's a bit of a toxic masculinity thing.

When Diana tries to martyr herself against Charlotte, he's honestly just worried about her, but maybe thinks about how he handled the night he turned into a vampire. He willingly gave himself away, so can he really judge her for being willing to do the same (although it was death rather than selling your soul for life.) He might chastise her a bit, but he likely is the best positive force for her during that recovery purpose. Once a bro, always a bro.

Post-SB conflicts likely either include going to a friend's wedding and bringing Di as a +1 (to show that he's fine with his friends growing up and older even when he's Not), or a new political case or job offering that Diana can tag along with and help him with, showing his finally accepting good things and not being a privileged bitch about it. (But perhaps phrased a bit nicer.)
