- Chip selection:
- - Get list of all chips this trader can drop. Chips are removed from the list according to the following filters:
- - 193/256 (~75%) to get an old chip, 63/256 (~25%) to get a new chip
- - If old chip: all chips you don't have in the Data Library yet are removed
- - If new chip: all chips you already have in the Data Library are removed
- - If the list ends up being empty, the other option is used, which basically means the entire list is used.
- - Choose a rarity (odds vary per trader). All chips that don't have that rarity are removed.
- - If there are no chips in the list with that rarity, rarity counts down to 1.
- - If there are still no chips, rarity counts up to 5
- - Choose a random chip from the ones that are left in the list (equal odds for each).
- - If chosen chip rarity is **** or *****, then counts how many of that chip you already have (total of all codes) and perform a check:
- - 0 copies: 1/256 (~0.4%) chance to redraw
- - 1 copy: 65/256 (~25%) chance to redraw
- - 2 copies: 129/256 (~50%) chance to redraw
- - 3 copies: 161/256 (~62.5%) chance to redraw
- - 4+ copies: 193/256 (~75%) chance to redraw
- - If redrawing:
- - Get flat list of all chips+codes this trader can drop. (So the more codes a chip can drop in, the greater the odds that it drops.)
- - Choose a chip+code completely at random. It is possible to draw a chip's 4th code this way in the Japanese version.
- - If not redrawing:
- - Gets list of codes that this chip can drop in.
- - 193/256 (~75%) to get a new code, 63/256 (~25%) to get a code you already currently have.
- - English version: Choose a random code from the ones that are left (equal odds for each).
- - Japanese version: Choose a random code from the ones that are left (equal odds for each), EXCEPT for a chip's 4th code.
- In the table below, RNG simulations have been run to check whether 4th codes are obtainable via redraw in the JP version.
