[14:11] <&GeMshuku> Either way, the horde's buzzing is deafening, and somehow managing to get worse. Also, each one literally crackling with electricity is likely a BAD THING.
[14:11] <&GeMshuku> Thankfully, as a meguca, the dangers of hearing damage are beyond you...but it does make communication a lot harder.
[14:12] <&GeMshuku> The staredown between you and the bugs...might end at the slightest movement. They don't advance, but...well, neither have you.
[14:15] <Sakata_Ginko> Ginko listened around. The buzzing was getting on her nerves. "Where are they coming from? They seem to be all around us!" she said, unable to decipher the source of the sound.
[14:17] <&GeMshuku> Akiko can see that the bugs come from...uh, actually, this seems to be all of them. They don't come from anywhere, they just make up a large amount of this room, the bugs themselves buzzing like death itself. And they all crackle with electricity, which...would normally kill bugs. Huh. It also doesn't help the noise any!
[14:18] <&GeMshuku> It's almost as if these bugs are not normal bugs.
[14:18] <&GeMshuku> And...all while buzzing, they wait.
[14:19] <Raitaki> This seemed like all of them for now...Maybe a scouting or scavenging swarm or something similiar? Nothing else to do but wipe them out, Akiko supposed...but how..?

[14:21] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Oddly, the bugs seemed content with just staring-- wait. No, this wasn't good. Akiko conjured up a canvas and a pencil (huh, seemed like /those/ look 100% realistic), and quickly wrote "They're delaying us for their master?" and showed it to Ginko.
[14:23] <Sakata_Ginko> It was getting hard to think with the cacophany around her. Ginko snatched the pencil and canvas from Akiko's hands. "We need fire and lots of it," she wrote in almost incomprehensibly messy script.
[14:27] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko made a face at the suggestion. "We're in a building, might get stuck in the fire too. And people might come," she wrote in reply. Glancing back uncertainly at the swarm of insects, she wondered how much time they had left before the bugs' master would arrive...
[14:29] <&GeMshuku> The buzzing gets ever louder. ...Hold on, that's mostly the electricity getting louder.
[14:30] <Sakata_Ginko> This writing really isn't the best way to communicate. "We can't fight the bees in open space; there'd be too much room for them to maneuver," Ginko wrote. Her grip on her wooden sword was getting sweaty.
[14:32] <Shirayuki_Akiko> That...might be true...Guess there was no other way around it...Akiko drew a sharp breath, and started to call upon her sorcery.
[14:38] <&GeMshuku> Akiko calls upon honey! A sweet, sugary substance that bugs that AREN'T bees would probably enjoy. Bees too. There's bees in there. Other flighty, buzzy bugs too, like flies and WASPS.
[14:39] <&GeMshuku> ...The bugs recognize this...and quickly attempt to drive the party out.
[14:40] <&GeMshuku> With what?
[14:40] <&GeMshuku> A BOLT OF ELECTRICITY.
[14:40] <&GeMshuku> Like, a big and dangerous one. Being shot. At you.
[14:41] <&GeMshuku> WAIT, NO, I'M MISUNDERSTANDING YOU PEOPLE
[14:44] <&GeMshuku> RIGHT. She summons fire. Natural fire.
[14:44] <&GeMshuku> ...Unnatural fire.
[14:47] <&GeMshuku> An unnatural fire that takes the bugs off guard! Some are set aflame! ...The ones set aflame are quickly seperated from the pack, and eventually burn out.
[14:47] <&GeMshuku> THEN IT SHOOTS THE LIGHTNING.
[14:52] <&GeMshuku> And in between the fire, the lightning, and the realization that this might in fact be the actual youma, and Akiko just does not feel like being here right now.
[14:56] <Sakata_Ginko> Ginko saw the lightning bolt coming. She threw her sword out to act as a lightning rod, momentarily forgetting that it was made of wood and not at all a good conductor of electricity. Still, the sword absorbed some of the damage, but she took the shock in full. A moment of excruciating pain and paralysis later, she collapsed on the floor, her costume smoldering and her hair sparkling due to the residual cha

[14:57] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko picked the first memory of fire her mind came across, and shunted it from her mind to reality. Unfortunately, that failed to prevent old scars from resurfacing, and before the fire she summoned could even do much, Akiko thought she was starting to smell the accursed smoke fill her lungs! "No--" Her words were drowned out by panicked coughs, and she took the first frantic step back, which was responded
[14:57] <Shirayuki_Akiko> to with stray sparks of electricity, startling her and prompted several more steps backwards!
[15:08] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Gasping desperately for breath, Akiko noticed her teammate collapsed on the floor, seemingly unmoving. The white-haired girl might have been able to get back up shortly, but...Right now, for Akiko one second became three, and three seconds were enough to qualify as a very, very bad sign, and probably their cue to retreat!
[15:27] <&GeMshuku> The electricity's humming is somewhat dulled, but the bugs buzz menacingly. ...This is your chance!
[15:27] <&GeMshuku> To what? GET OUT. With any luck, they won't follow. Not that you're all that lucky.
[15:29] <Sakata_Ginko> Ginko's paralysis only lasted a moment. She scrambled up with her shaking arms and legs, then she proceeded to pick up the wooden sword to her side. Seeing Akiko in her frozen state, something clicked in her head. "FALL BACK!" She screamed and gestured with her free hand.
[15:33] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko was still trying to think of a way to delay the bugs while dragging Ginko out, but Ginko got back up! "Se-" was all she managed, before Ginko signalled something that was probably a retreat order. She nodded, and quickly turned tail and ran back towards the stairs!
[15:36] <&GeMshuku> Ginko and Akiko get out of a VERY BAD SITUATION! While the buzzing gets louder, you're pretty sure it's just their electricity again. They don't seem to pursue!
[15:36] <&GeMshuku> ...Well, that's one way to scout out a threat.
[15:37] <Sakata_Ginko> Outside in the stairwell, Ginko breathed heavily, using her wooden sword as a crutch: "what... what the fuck was that!?"

[15:41] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko stumbled down the stairs, and promptly crumpled against a wall and rested her face against her knees. "I'm...sorry..." she managed, in a broken voice.
[15:43] <Sakata_Ginko> "No, no, it's okay," Ginko also sat down beside Akiko and caught her breath. "Is that the monster? It's a freaking swarm of electrified hornets, ferchrissakes!"
[15:45] <Shirayuki_Akiko> "...We...need fire to kill them...huh..?"
[15:46] <Sakata_Ginko> "No, we gotta do something about the lightning attacks." Ginko mused quietly. "Would a lightning pole work?"
[15:51] <Shirayuki_Akiko> "...A lightning pole..." A metallic rod connected to the ground that attracts and ground out lightning, huh. Akiko wasn't sure magical lightning could be diverted with (magical) metal, but it was worth a shot. She summoned a canvas and pencil, and set to work drawing one, glad for the distraction.
[15:56] <Sakata_Ginko> Ginko, on the other hand, took out her cell phone. Dialing Yuna's number, she held her phone to her ear.
[15:57] <&GeMshuku> Even while the pair is on their way, Ginko calls!
[15:58] <&GeMshuku> ...And if Yuna picks up, well, the buzzing can in fact be heard on the other end of the line.
[15:59] * Yuna_Mizuno hears the phone ringing in her pocket. Upon answering it, she's greeted by a loud buzzing sound. Over the cell phone, it sounds like a buinch of static, though with a distinctly non-static-y sound to it if that makes sense. "I think they're in trouble..." she tells Misao and Nezumi.
[16:00] <Sakata_Ginko> "Hello? Hello!?" The buzzing was making her pop a vein. "Hey, Yuna! Are you there? Are you listening? Hello!?"
[16:02] * Yuna_Mizuno holds the phone as close to her ear as she can, "I can barely hear you! What's going on?" she says, hoping that they'd be able to h ear her over whatever was going on
[16:02] <&GeMshuku> Nezumi speaks! "If they found whatever you were looking for...yeah, probably!"
[16:03] <Midorikawa_Misao> "I-I hope they're alright..." Misao sighs.  "L-let's hurry!"
[16:03] <Sakata_Ginko> "Finally! Fucking thing's pissing me off!" Ginko snarled into the phone. "We've got a whole swarm of electrified wasps from hell on the other side of the door! So far they're not chasing us, but I don't know how long that's gonna last!"
[16:11] * Yuna_Mizuno "Hold on as long as you can, we'll be there as soon as we can," she says, hoping the insects would delay the attack until they got there..."
[16:13] <Sakata_Ginko> "Yeah, no shit. We're trying to fashion a lightning rod to try and divert its attacks! Not sure how that's gonna work! Get your asses here asap!"
[16:13] <Sakata_Ginko> "We're on the top floor! Follow the buzzing!"

[16:16] <Shirayuki_Akiko> "...Done!" Akiko produced a quick sketch of...a silver lightning rod with a metal wire connecting to the ground, except it had three extra "prongs" pointing outwards as an attempt to increase coverage, or something!
[16:21] <Sakata_Ginko> "Can you make the other end sharp so we can stab it into the ground?" Ginko commented after she hung up the call. "And make the wire long enough that it runs out the room! We need to tie it to something metal to bleed off the current!
[16:22] <&GeMshuku> As the party approaches the run down hospital, a thought occurs to Nezumi. "Ah, by the way, speaking of the idea of me supporting you guys, that's what I do. I make sure I don't get hit, and I make sure other people can take care of the hitting and getting hit without falling over. That's fine, right?"
[16:22] * Yuna_Mizuno hears the line go silent. "Sounds like they have a plan, but we should hurry to make sure they're okay..."
[16:23] <Midorikawa_Misao> "Wh-what did they say?" Misao inquires.
[16:23] <Shirayuki_Akiko> "Sharp, huh? That's fine," the artist replied as an eraser appeared in her hand. "Though I was able to summon stakes right inside that other youma we beat, so I should also be able to summon this already embedded onto the ground..."
[16:29] * Yuna_Mizuno "They're going to make a lightning rod to try and divert their attacks," she replies, "They desperately need our help..."
[16:31] <&GeMshuku> "Then it seems the other side's got their wits about them. The noise worries me, though. Communication in the thick of battle's gonna be hard...and enough loud buzzing might outright be detrimental. Not like we can slow down, though!"
[16:32] <Midorikawa_Misao> "We'd better hurry..." Misao comments grimly.  "How far are we from where they're at?"
[16:33] <Sakata_Ginko> "All right. You ready?" Ginko stood up with a grunt and patted the dust off of her bum. She extended her hand to Yuna. "Not going to panic this time, right?"
[16:35] <&GeMshuku> The hospital...isn't too far! You hear a faint buzzing, even from here, which really goes to show just how loud those things are.
[16:35] * Yuna_Mizuno checks the phone, "Not too far off... I think it's that buiilding over there," She points at a tall buiding off in the distance.
[16:35] <&GeMshuku> Yep, that's definitely the one!
[16:36] <Midorikawa_Misao> "Where did they say they were?"
[16:37] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko looked at Ginko for a moment, hesitating, before taking her hand and standing up. Accepting the gesture somehow made her feel weak and inferior, but with her previous screw up she knew where she could stick her pride. "Yes. It won't happen again."
[16:37] * Yuna_Mizuno points at the hospital "Near the top of the hospital. Hard to miss with all the buzzing..."
[16:39] <Midorikawa_Misao> "R-right, I-I totally noticed that," Misao nervously smiles, before flying up to the roof, presumably to access the building from above... but was there a way?
[16:41] <&GeMshuku> There's no mysterious barrier, though there are windows!
[16:43] <Midorikawa_Misao> "I got this..." Misao approaches a window on the top floor, before stepping back to joust it, yelling, "I, the Scarlet Flame, shall bring light to Mae!"
[16:44] <Sakata_Ginko> "Hey, stay frosty, alright? I'd hate to let the other two see us being beaten to a bloody smear when they get here." Ginko smiled at her reassuringly, then she glanced at the doroway. "All right. Let's get this going."
[16:45] <&GeMshuku> While one asks another to stay frosty, another proclaims that she's a flame as she BUSTS through a window and oh god it's louder when nothing in the way
[16:45] <&GeMshuku> ...Busts through a window in the vicinity of Ginko and Akiko!
[16:45] <&GeMshuku> *when nothing IS in the way
[16:47] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko jumped and summoned a canvas shielding her and Ginko from the direction of the crashing sound, then lowered it as she got a good look of the culprit. "What, it's just you..." she sighed in relief.
[16:49] <Sakata_Ginko> As the aftershock dissipated, Ginko shook her head in disbelief at her kouhai: "Speaking of the frickin' devil. Could you possibly make any more noise! The buzzing's loud enough!"
[16:50] <Midorikawa_Misao> "S-sorry, onee-san, Akiko-sama," Misao bows her head in shame.  "B-but how am I going to be a hero if I don't make heroic entrances?"
[16:51] * Yuna_Mizuno sighs and turns to Nezumi, "She likes doing this, in case you couldn't tell..."
[16:52] * Yuna_Mizuno turns to the other two, "Jeeeez, that's loud!" she says, wondering what the heck kind of demon they had awakened...
[16:53] <&GeMshuku> Nezumi, a (mostly) momochrome magical girl with long, black hair and skin so white as to clearly be unnatural, comes in after Yuna does. She tries to speak OVER the loud buzzing, which proves to be exceptionally difficult now. "Yeah, I can see that. By the way, don't panic, I was brought in as support. Only agenda I have is to kill time and learn things. Killing youma is a good way to kill time!"
[16:55] <Sakata_Ginko> "Great, a third airhead." Ginko muttered under her breath. The brief respite served as a wonderful opportunity to recover some hit points. "We ready?"
[16:56] <&GeMshuku> "Hey, hey. I'm not an airhead. No more than these two, anyway.
[16:56] <Midorikawa_Misao> "I- whouah!" Misao flinches, now realizing the sudden silence, or lack thereof.  "Y-yeah, I-I'm ready, onee-san!"
[16:57] <&GeMshuku> Definitely lack thereof!
[16:58] * Yuna_Mizuno nods, "Let's do this..."
[16:58] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko eyed the extra girl cautiously. Why was she black and white? Is that just what her magical girl transformation did, or..? Not the right time to ponder that, though. She nodded. "Right. Weren't you hurt by the insects earlier, though?"
[17:00] <&GeMshuku> "If you were, this would be a good time to fix yourself up! You can still steel yourself for what's to come, which should do some wonders!"
[17:01] <Sakata_Ginko> "Alright, here goes," Ginko rest her wooden sword on the back of her neck and strode forward. With an unceremonious stomp, she slammed open the door: "Guess who's back, bitches!?"
[17:04] <Midorikawa_Misao> Misao nods, her helmet reappearing to prevent her losing her head in battle.
[17:25] <&GeMshuku> The fight begins in earnest, as the SWARM notices that the cavalry has arrived. Clearly this won't stand, and the buzzing grows ever louder!
[17:29] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko concentrated, and the sketch of the lightning rod on the canvas glowed green and faded as a bigger, appropriately-sized version of it materialized on the ground a short distance in front of Akiko! The wire hanging from the rod darted to the back of the room and somehow dug itself into the ground. "Alright, get that pole as close to the swarm as we can! Don't be too close when they attack, though!" She
[17:29] <Shirayuki_Akiko> shouted at her allies, trying to make herself heard through the buzzing.
[17:31] <Midorikawa_Misao> The younger knight nods toward the witch, and approaches the lightning rod.
[17:40] <&GeMshuku> The PRIESTESS, not wanting to recklessly advance as Ginko did, while still wanting the cover of someone who seems to be that kind of person, approaches the infernal being cautiously...and touches Ginko up a tad more.
[17:47] <&GeMshuku> The infernal Hellswarm recognizes the threat before it, and immediately shoots lightning at Ginko! The rod is too far away to draw it!

[17:57] <Sakata_Ginko> Ginko held up her sword in front for defense. But what good does a wooden sword do against a lightning bolt? Billions of volts course through her body, and for a second she thought she smelled her own flesh cooking from the heat. There was an agonizing scream, too, of course; she fell to one knee, panting from the aftermaths of the attack.
[17:57] <Midorikawa_Misao> "Onee-san!" Misao slashes in the air with a wooden sword not unlike Ginko's, causing a cut of razor wind to come forth and deflect another volley of lighting aimed at her!
[17:58] <&GeMshuku> Impact! The insects remain in place (in a manner of speaking), recognizing the strange object as a hinderance.
[18:00] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko winced at the blood-curdling scream, chilling her spine even through the loud buzzing. That lightning pole should be brought to the front, stat!
[18:07] * Yuna_Mizuno moves forward and readies her staff. A soft glow surrounds it, then a pale beam of light connects between Sakata and Misao before disappearing and briefly surrounding the two in sparkles.

[18:16] * Midorikawa_Misao lifts the pole, then drags it toward where Ginko was standing, waving at the other knight while doing so.
[18:19] <Midorikawa_Misao> "Aaaaand... there," The Flame let go of the lightning rod, then proceeded to throw a javelin at the swarm.
[18:21] <&GeMshuku> You can see the swarm evacuate the position the javelin is thrown in! Perhaps a bit faster next time?
[18:24] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko rushed to the front lines, right behind the lightning rod! She wasn't sure if she was far enough back to be protected, but...the enemy was clearly quite formiddable on the offensive, so there was no choice but to rush and beat it down first!
[18:26] <&GeMshuku> In the face of the swarm of magicial girls, the swarm stands fierce!
[18:28] <&GeMshuku> ...Their noise rises to a crescendo, and the eyes of all the bugs glow red...the front line can't help but look!
[18:28] <&GeMshuku> Except the rod.
[18:28] <&GeMshuku> It's...a rod!
[18:40] <Sakata_Ginko> The red stare paralyzes Ginko for a second. Her face shifted from guarded curiosity, to unbound horror, and then to grim realization. God knows what she saw.
[18:40] <&GeMshuku> The glare's effects take hold for some, the sheer gravity of those beady eyes and a hunk of ~special power~ putting those that see it in quite awful states of mind!
[18:41] <Midorikawa_Misao> "Ngh!" Misao's helmet cannot protect from magical glares, so the knight clutches her head, quite stunned of what she had seen.
[18:42] <Sakata_Ginko> Her legs moved forward, one after the other, as if they were driven by their own minds instead of what's inside Ginko's head.
[18:44] <Shirayuki_Akiko> As Akiko's will wavered, she felt some sort of...inner push, and her mind was clear again! "..What was that..?" Akiko wondered, as she noticed her magical power spiking slightly.
[18:48] <&GeMshuku> Nezumi marches ever onward! And on the way, she links Misao and Akiko!
[18:58] * Yuna_Mizuno sees that everyone up front seems to be suffering from the Youma's glare. She had definitely gotten a distinct sense of uneasiness from it, but it didn't have the effect on her that it did on her comrades. "H-hang on!" she cries out, and her staff glows again. A warm light surrounds Sakata, and then surrounds Misao. They would quickly find that their minds were once again clear.
[18:58] <&GeMshuku> It also surrounds Akiko, but it just feels kinda nice, and nothing else!
[18:59] <Midorikawa_Misao> "Wh-whuh...?" The younger knight shakes their helmeted head, a new determination within them.  "I'm back in the game!"
[19:05] <Midorikawa_Misao> With her vigor renewed, Misao advances toward the youma, throwing a stiletto at the swarm!
[19:07] <&GeMshuku> The attack pierces through their lines! You see a large amount of dead insects, which is nice, but...there's still an absolutely massive amount of them anyway!
[19:12] * Yuna_Mizuno and Nezumi look at each other and nod. They both concentrate their magic, and suddenly the other three girls are engulfed in a series of green sparkles. To them it would feel like quite a burden had been lifted from their shoulders.
[19:14] <&GeMshuku> Nezumi understands the risks of EXCESSIVE MAGIC USE, so that nod had meaning~!
[19:14] <Sakata_Ginko> The haze of whatever her vision was had passed. Ginko once again had purpose in her movements, so she strode forward and swung her sword. However, that might not have been the best idea, because the sword merely cut through thin air, not hurting a single bug.
[19:15] <&GeMshuku> They flutter away from the sword as if an afterthought. Those bugs that somehow read your mind before you even swing? They're doing a fine replica of that job.
[19:22] <Shirayuki_Akiko> "Bugs, huh...how to deal with bugs..." After briefly pondering her options, Akiko summoned a raven made of black mist (or one that looked like it was, anyway), which got to work slowly chewing away the bugs' ranks, plus a big, comical frying pan, which soared at the swarm and splattering some of the insects against the opposite wall!
[19:24] <&GeMshuku> The bugs, annoyed at the swatting, shoot out another bolt of lightning!
[19:24] <&GeMshuku> ...The lightning is attracted by the rod!
[19:32] <&GeMshuku> It takes the shot! ...But it REALLY takes the shot! It's not the highest grade lightning rod. It can't take too much abuse!
[19:33] <Midorikawa_Misao> With a point of her finger, the Scarlet Flame pulls up a segment of a fort's wall to mitigate some of the damage.
[19:34] <Shirayuki_Akiko> "Ouch...that looked like it hurts," Akiko winced. It was something she only drew for this fight, but...it was still one of her creations!
[19:59] * Yuna_Mizuno closes her eyes and concentrates. A bright white ball of light starts gathering at the tip of her staff. It launches itself at the swarm of insects, then splits off into eight seperate orbs. They circle around the swarm before rising up through the ceiling... then they come down one by one and each pierce through the swarm, removing a siginficant chunk of it.
[20:03] <&GeMshuku> Nezumi understands the risk of being grouped together! Everyone's topped off, and she ain't got a chance to hit it, so she backs off. Going further in front would only group her with someone else, and she doesn't have the luxury of being linked!
[20:05] <&GeMshuku> The swarm continues to watch itself fall...
[20:07] <&GeMshuku> ...and then, the buzzing gets louder.
[20:07] <&GeMshuku> LOUDER

[20:07] <&GeMshuku> The noise reaches levels beyond that which should be, as you feel a wave of isolation.
[20:08] <Midorikawa_Misao> "Gh...!"
[20:08] <&GeMshuku> Talking is impossible like this! Your voices fail to go anywhere!
[20:08] <&GeMshuku> And at this state, even while you're magicial...
[20:09] <&GeMshuku> So as long as you can hear, you'll regret ever having the sense!
[20:09] <Midorikawa_Misao> (I can't go on... was I too weak?"
