[New] Rei Background

Born to a pair of archaeologists, Rei grew up not knowing the value of friendships or even the value of a home. Due to his parents' constant moving, friends were often come-and-go with little time to truly get to know them. This also resulted in a constant loneliness as his parents were often far too busy with their jobs to spend time with him, causing him to spend far too much time around strangers. Around Age 8, He came close to death while within an old Monster ruin his parents were excavating. His survival, however, came in the form of magic. The ruin, flowing with ancient magic from many years ago, transferred said magical energy to him, triggering a strange reaction that gave him a unique form of magic altogether, Technomancy. Subconsciously, Rei used this magic to enhance the receiving power of his phone to the point that, despite being over 500 ft underground, he was able to clearly communicate with the archaeological team to free him. By the time he turned 13 however, Rei had since lost a "family relationship" with his family, often opting to stay alone and wander rather than stay around the sites. During the times he wasn't on a plane, he'd complete online lessons as a way to "keep him from being stupid", according to his mother. Having nothing better to do, he completed all of them by age 15, despite starting at age 9. By the time his parents had heard the barrier had broken, roughly 9 and a half years after the fact, Rei himself had been tired of moving and, at last, his parents made the decision to let him experience the last bits of his life as kid before he'd turn into an adult and, for the last few months, has been living in Newer Home.
