  1. Hi Alexander,
  2.
  3. Please let me know if you are planning to create games on 3DS or Wii U, or if you are creating middleware to be used by other companies.
  4.
  5. The API in CTR-SDK is confidential, so you should not publicly release code interfacing with the API. Some exceptions may possibly apply or you may be able to speak with someone at Nintendo to work out a policy for your project.
  6.
  7. If you want to talk to someone further about policy, please let me know which platform you are asking about, the specific libraries you are concerned with, and which country you are inquiring from.
  8.
  9. Thanks!

  22. Subject: [SPAM] Licencing of software that interacts with Nintendo SDKs
  23.
  24. Hello,
  25.
  26. I represent a software company licenced to work with Nintendo. I have been looking through Nintendo’s documentson the developer portal website, but I am having a difficult time finding the right resources regarding licencing of APIs exposed by Nintendo SDKs, such as the CTR-SDK.
  27.
  28. The leadership in our company sees more profit potential in making Free and Open Source Software for our video games by monetising assets exclusively. However, they are concerned that Nintendo does not allow for entities to interact with your SDK’s APIs in code, and that code be licenced permissively (for example, with MIT Licence).
  29.
  30. Are there any documents you can point me to, or give me the names of so I may look them up in the developer portal directory explaining Nintendo’s policy on this?
  31.
  32. Thank you,
  33.
  34. Alexander <redacted>
  35. Representative of <redacted>
