  1. >It had been a few weeks since Trixie's return to Ponyville
  2. >All had gone back to normal in the idyllic rural town
  3. >Twilight Sparkle was in her library, studying as usual.
  4. >It was a particularly nice day, but of course, all days were nice, unless they were scheduled not to be
  5. >She turned a page in her book, her thoughts of the weather wandering eventually to Rainbow Dash
  6. >Pehraps she would see what she was up to, and they would-
  7. >"TWILIIIIIIGHT!"
  8. >She didn't have much of a chance to react as Rainbow Dash slammed into her, causing the two to tumble into the library.
  9. >She had just reorganized the books, too!
  10. >She got back on her hooves, shaking her head. "What is it now, Rainbow D-"
  11. >She paused, staring at her friend, mouth agape in confusion and horror
  12. >"W. . .what. ..I don't understand!"
  13. >"Neither do I!" Cried Rainbow Dash, looking on the verge of tears. "I thought you fixed it, but it started growing this morning and I don't know why!"
  14. >"Just hold on, Rainbow Dash. I'll fix it, no problem. . ."
  15. >Twilight closed her eyes and concentrated, her horn lighting up
  16. >With a poof!, Rainbow Dash's wing was back to normal.
  17. >She flexed them, and with a smile looked to her friend. "Thanks Twi! I knew you could-"
  18. >-fwop!-
  19. >The wing regained it's crazy huge size, causing her to lose balance and fall over
  20. >Rainbow Dash looked at the wing with horror, breaking down into tears
  21. >"My life is ruuuuiiiiiined!"
  22.
  23.
  24. >Twilight blinked, adopting a look of frustration. "I don't understand! That should have worked!"
  25. >Her horn lit up again, but Rainbow Dash sprung to her hooves
  26. >"Wait! Don't do that again!"
  27. >"What? Why not?" Asked Twilight, confused.
  28. >"It. . .kinda hurts. And it feels funny. And if it didn't work the first time, I don't think it's going to work again!"
  29. >Twilight sighed. This was quite a pickle
  30. >The Alicorn amulet was rather powerful, to be sure, but she was certain she had undone the effects shortly after they had been cast. . .
  31. >What if her magic wasn't powerful enough? She'd have to check on Snips and Snails if that was the case, and she wasn't looking forward to that
  32. >"I'm. . .not sure what to do in this case, Rainbow Dash. But I'll figure something out!"
  33. >"What?! You gotta fix this NOW, Twi! I can't go out with this!"
  34. >She outstretched her huge wing, knocking over a pile of books on a nearby table
  35. >Twilight frowned. "Well, I can't keep you here. . .I know how you don't like being coped up in a house, and that wings going to be an issue."
  36. >"There's gotta be something you can do! Anything! Please, Twilight, I'm beggin' you!"
  37. >Twilight hesitated for a moment. She had an idea, but she wasn't sure it would work.
  38. >"Well. . .I do have an idea, but-"
  39. >"Great! Magic me up, then!" Said Rainbow Dash, stepping back and smirking
  40. >"But Rainbow Dash, it's just a quick fix and-"
  41. >"Just do it!"
  42. >Twilight sighed, and closed her eyes, her horn lighting up and casting a spell
  43. >Rainbow Dash was hit, and the library was bathed in a blinding light
  44. >-fwop!-
  45.
  46. >When the light faded, Rainbow Dash, blinked, smirking.
  47. >"I feel all balanced again! Wohoo! You musta fixed it, no problem!"
  48. >"Erm. . .not. . .quite." Twilight said nervously.
  49. >Rainbow Dash looked to her sides. . .and saw not one, but two humongous wings, their size dwarfing the princesses
  50. >"B-but. . .how. . .you. . ." Dash looked mortified and Twilight sighed.
  51. >"Like I said, it's just a temporary solution. I don't know what's causing your wing to stay like that, but I figure balancing it out would at least give you some comfort. . ."
  52. >"You. . .you turned me into a freak!" Rainbow Dash shouted.
  53. >"No! I would never do something like that!" Twilight said, trying her hardest not to raise her voice.
  54. >"I promise you. . .I'll work tirelessly to find a way to fix this. You'll know more as soon as I do."
  55. >Rainbow Dash's expression softened a bit, but she was still misty eyed. "P. . promise?"
  56. >"Cross my heart, hope the fly, stick a cupcake in my eye."
  57. >Rainbow Dash smiled, and walked forward, giving her friend a hug.
  58. >They broke the embrace after a while, and Rainbow Dash smirked. "Heh, I bet I could fly super fast with these things!"
  59. >"That's the spirit. Stay positive."
  60. >"Yeah, positive! I'll be the best flyer ever with these babies!"
  61. >She spread her wings, and in turn two more stacks of books were knocked over.
  62. >"Eh he. . .whoops."
  63. >Twilight rolled her eyes and lead her friend out, and she took off into the sky, albeit a bit unsteadily
  64. >She lingered outside long enough to make her Dash didn't crash, and went back into the house-library, rubbing her hooves together
  65. >"Ha ha, time for research!"
  66.
  67. ===
  68.
  69. >You weren't a person of much significance
  70. >Few family members and fewer friends, a going nowhere soon job, but at least your apartment was nice
  71. >You lived simply, donated to charity when you could, and had a decent life
  72. >All that changed one night, during a particularly raging thunderstorm, the lightning was striking close to your apartment
  73. >In a million to one chance, the lightning had struck in such a way that it tore through your window
  74. >The sound was deafening, and the subsequent explosion was even more fearsome
  75. >Before you were blinded by the raw fury of nature, you could swear the lighting bolt itself had an amethyst color
  76. >Your world went dark for a while, as you floated not between life and death, but between worlds
  77. >As far as you knew, though, you were dead.
  78. >This is how it ends, huh? An inglorious end to your mediocre living
  79. >Go figure, huh.
  80. >You closed your eyes, floating between worlds that seemed to be forever
  81. >In reality, it was only a few moments, and soon you felt the cold embrace of a floor, and a shocked gasp
  82. >Not quite dead, it seemed
  83.
  84. >Twilight Sparkle was amazed at the creature before her.
  85. >It looked like a minotaur, but. . .not? No horns, no bull like features, not nearly as bulky. . .
  86. >Whatever it was, she had brought it over, and she had to take care of it.
  87. >Of course, she'd have to ask a whole bunch of questions first.
  88. >Who knows what kind of secrets this creature knew!
  89. >She hardly was upset at the fact her machines in the basement had overloaded and . . .exploded, slightly.
  90. >A minor setback in the grand scheme of things.
  91. >Besides, it had given her some important data on how to fix Dash's problem.
  92. >'Hello there! My name is Twilight Sparkle, and-'
  93. >The figure blinked, sitting up and looking around.
  94. ". . .What the hell? Where am I? What happened?"
  95. >'I'm sure you are very confused. . .let me explain everything. '
  96. >Twilight began doing what she did best: Lecture.
  97. >She explained a brief overview of the world, her friends, and why she had summoned him in the first place
  98.
  99. >Bit of a raw deal, innit?
  100. >Zapped into a world full of magical talking equines with little to no chance of returning.
  101. >Great. Just great.
  102. >You could appreciate she was doing something like this for her friend, but why you, of all people?
  103. >You weren't important, but maybe that was exactly why you got 'chosen' to come here.
  104. >Hardly anyone would miss you. . .
  105. >"Are you alright?" She asked, her concerned tone snapping you out of your thoughts.
  106. 'I just got pulled into a alien world, with no chance of going back home, rather violently at that. No, I'm not alright.'
  107. >She frowned, her ears flattening against her head. "I'm sorry. . . I didn't know what would happen!"
  108. >She was obviously torn up about it, and she wasn't baleful about it at all.
  109. >You rubbed your temples, sighing and closing your eyes.
  110. 'I know, I know. . .it's just. . .quite a lot to take in, you know? Really makes one think about things. . .not exactly the good way.'
  111. >She nodded. "I couldn't imagine how I would react, being thrown into an unknown world so suddenly. . ."
  112. 'Not much to be done about it, I suppose.'
  113. >She tapped her chin, thinking. "Well, there is . . .something. Somepony, actually. My mentor, Princess Celestia. . .'
  114. "Hm? What about her?"
  115. >'She might know a way to get you home! I'll write a letter to her and see what she has to say.'
  116. "Thanks. I'd appreciate that."
  117. >'No problem. It's the least I could do.'
  118. >There was a bit of an awkward silence before she spoke again.
  119. >'It's. . .getting a bit late. I don't exactly have a guest bedroom, so. . .'
  120. 'Don't worry about it. I don't exactly have the strength to move, anyways.'
  121. >'I'll get some blankets, ok?' She said, trotting up the stairs.
  122. >You nodded and sat there, staring at the ceiling, lost in your own thoughts
  123.
  124. >She came back down and you got a little makeshift bed going, and she cleared out some debris caused by your arrival
  125. >You didn't really sleep at all that night, thoughts of home and family and other things wracking your mind.
  126. >You felt like crying, mourning the loss of your normal life and thrust into this bizarre, unusual one.
  127. >But who knows, this. . .Celestia might know how to take you back.
  128. >And. . .strange as it may seem, you could just help out this Rainbow Dash pony.
  129. >The was, after all, the reason you were here, right?
  130. >You grappled with your purpose in this world for a while before eventually succumbing to a dreamless sleep.
  131.
  132. >Dawn came, and you awoke, stretching out
  133. >You've had worse nights sleep, that's for sure.
  134. >You stood, stretching out, your strength having returned to you from resting
  135. >You were a bit sore from the makeshift bed, but hey, you'd probably be a lot worse off if you had just slept on the floor
  136. >You climbed up the stairs to see Twilight sitting at the table, enjoying a veggie omlete of some kind.
  137. >She smiled at you pleasently. 'Good morning, Anonymous! Did you sleep well?
  138. 'Well enough. Had better, had worse.' You said. 'I don't suppose there's another of those for me?'
  139. >You pointed at the omlete and she nodded
  140. >'Sure, I'll go whip one up as soon as-'
  141. >She was interrupted by what sounded like a cat trying to vomit up it's left lung
  142. '. . .the hell?'
  143. >'OH, that must be from Princess Celestia!'
  144. 'What.'
  145. >'My dragon, Spike is. . .sort of like a mail box. Whenever I want to send a letter to her, I roll it up and he breathes fire on it, and it gets sent to the Princess. And when she wants to send me something, Spike sort of coughs it up.'
  146. >You blinked, amazed at the nonchalant tone she had about the whole thing
  147. >'Ooooh, this must be a big one. . .I'll help Spike out, just wait right here!'
  148. >She trotted upstairs to where she slept, and you just took a seat, dumbfounded at the situation
  149.
  150. >You were awoken from your stupor when you heard a scream of. . .what sounded like terror and joy at the same time.
  151. >There was a flash and then Twilight was at the kitchen table, shoveling down the rest of her omelet, her horn glowing with magic as the library tidied itself
  152. >Soon as she had finished, she bolted all across the library, making sure everything was in order and cleaning like her life depended on it.
  153. >'SpikegetoutourPrincessVisitChecklistsASAPthishastobeperfectand-'
  154. 'Woah woah woah, hey, spaz, breathe.'
  155. >She froze mid-clean, sloooooowly turning her gaze upon you
  156. >An icy chill gripped you, and you weren't sure why.
  157. 'Wouldn't mind explaining the situation to me so I'm not completely lost?'
  158. >'Oh! Well, of course. Sorry, I got a little ahead of myself, ehehe. . .'
  159. >She chuckled awkwardly and cleared her throat.
  160. >'Princess Celestia will be visiting in about an hour and a half to investigate my findings, you, more specifically, and see if there can be a way to allow you walk on clouds.'
  161. '. . .For what purpose?'
  162. >'So you can help out Rainbow Dash, duh. Not everypony can just waltz on clouds, only pegasai can. I know a Cloudwalking spell, and with Celestia's help. . .'
  163. >This devolved into her rambling about magical theory and hypothesis, while going back to cleaning
  164. >You pinched the bridge of your nose and groaned
  165. >This was going to be the longest hour and a half of your life. . .
  166.
  167. >IF there is a God, and He is merciful, he will smite you now
  168. >She had a freakin' checklist of protocols on how the house-library should look, and those checklists had checklists.
  169. >It was asinine and inane, but you had to admit, between the three of you, you made the place so clean and spotless you could eat of the floors
  170. >. . .You would consider doing so, because in her excitement, Twilight neglected to make you one of those omelets
  171. >You'd get her back for that later
  172. >After the 5th final check, you could hear trumpets and horns outside
  173. >Cue Twilight going full spazzoid again and ordering you and Spike to stand near the table
  174. >There was a knock at the door, and she bolted to answer it
  175. >'Hello, Twilight Sparkle.' A gentle, soothing voice said as the princess entered.
  176. >You couldn't quite hear was Twilight said afterward, because suddenly you felt very small
  177. >Something about Celestia, this winged unicorn, exerted power like no other
  178. >The very air seemed electric in her presence
  179. >Yet strangely, this feeling wasn't frightening or unsettling, but rather. . .it was hard to say, but you felt protected in her presence
  180. >You were snapped from your thoughts as they sat at the table, continuing to speak
  181.
  182. >'. . . is Anon. I managed to summon him last night.'
  183. >'My. Certainly is a unique creature. . .he has the look of a minotaur, yet not quite as strong. . .but he seems gentler and kinder than most of them. . .
  184. 'Thank you, your majesty.' You said, almost without thinking.
  185. >Wait, Minotaurs were here too?!
  186. >This world just keeps getting more and more strange. . .
  187. >The princess smiles warmly. 'And he is rather polite besides. . .'
  188. >Twilight nodded and turned to Spike. 'Would you please fetch us some tea and snacks?'
  189. >The young dragon nodded and scampered off to the kitchen
  190. >The promise of food almost made you drool, but you thought better than to do so in the company of royalty
  191. >Celestia and Twilight went back and forth, discussing what to do with you, how to get you back, that sort of thing
  192. >You didn't pay a whole lot of attention, partly because of your hunger, partly because of your lack of knowledge about what they were even talking about
  193. >Magic and dimensional stability matrix arrays and extended enchantment ideals and holy cow speak English you two!
  194. >You reigned in a sigh, occasionally nodding or shaking your head when they addressed you
  195. >Spike eventually came back with refreshments
  196. >You resisted the urge, oh how you resisted, to just scarf down the snacks to sate the raging beast that had moved in your stomach.
  197. >It wasn't easy, but you managed, contently munching on the sweets while idly listening to the two mares chat
  198.
  199. >Once they were satisfied with their findings, they turned back too you.
  200. >'Oh, Anonymous. . .it is so saddening to hear your story. . .but you must look at the bright side.' Celestia said, her voice soft. 'My student is one of the best magic users in Equestria. If anyone can find a way to send you back, it's her.'
  201. '. . .Not that easy though, is it. She did bring me here to help Rainbow Dash. Nothing in life is for free.'
  202. >'We cannot force you into anything, Anonymous. If you would prefer, arrangements could be made to let you stay as long as needed in a cottage on the outskirts of town.'
  203. >You tapped your chin in thought, and she stood to leave.
  204. >'I will return for your answer tomorrow. Please, think carefully. . .'
  205. 'Wait, wait . . .!' You blurted out
  206. >All eyes were on you now, as you scrambled to find words to say
  207. 'Look, this. . .Rainbow Dash girl. From what it sounds, she's been kinda secluded for a while 'cause of what happened. So I'll look after her. Get her out of her shell, all that mushy stuff. Spazoid here'd probably be distracted if her "very best friend"- air quotes and all - was all sad, so if she's not distracted, she works more effectively, gets whatever mumob jumbo spell to get me home faster. Simple as that.'
  208. >Twilight adopted an incredious look as she glared at you; you could practically feel her eyes bore into your skull
  209. >Celestia, however, was a bit surprised and smiled wry. 'My. Very pragmatic of you. . .'
  210. 'Yeah, yeah. Let's just get this whole Cloudwalking spell stuff out of the way.'
  211. >The Princess nodded and beckoned Twilight to step over, both of their horns beginning to glow
  212. >'I thank you for doing this for my student and one of my beloved subjects. . .but I hope by the end of this, you will learn the magic of friendship.'
  213. >You could feel your masculinity atrophying exponentially now thanks to that line
  214. >Before you could offer a retort, magic and light were awash over you, your world nothing but white
  215.
  216. >Next thing you knew, you were in what appeared to be a chariot, Celestia and Twilight riding in another beside you
  217. >Said chariots were being driving by flying. . .horses.
  218. >Upon closer examination of the chariots, your inner physicist was sobbing and drinking vodka till he was blind
  219. >You had to realize that this world didn't operate on the same set of rules as yours
  220. >On the way over to Rainbow Dash's place, Twilight and Celestia explained a few things
  221. >What to do about groceries, more clothes shall be made for you soon, she has a guest room you will be staying in, all that stuff
  222. >If you didn't fall through the clouds in the first place
  223. >As you approached the dwelling, it looked more like a mansion than a regular house
  224. >An upgrade from the house-library, that's for sure
  225. >The chariots landed, and they looked at you expectantly
  226. >You took a shaky, uncertain step on the cloudstuff. . .and found it surprisingly solid
  227. >IT was like stepping into memory foam, really
  228. >Twilight was overjoyed at the results, prancing around in her chariot
  229. >Celestia giggled a bit and turned to address you
  230. >'Remember, Anonymous. Dash was once one of Equestrias best fliers. . .even after all this time, she is still sensitive about her wings. Please have some tact and consideration.'
  231. 'Two best words to describe me, hah.'
  232. >Twilight handed. . .hoofed? you the spare key to the house; she had it so she could deliver groceries to Dash when needed
  233. >You parted ways with them, and looked at the house with an uneasy smile.
  234. >You stepped towards the front door after some time, fitting the key into the lock, and opening the door to the house
  235. >And with it, opening a new chapter in your life
