Selection bias

Selection bias matters in human society and interactions. Especially in light of our laws of behavioral genetics since genes affect every trait, mlre than shared environment, and even affect environmental factors one has to be wary of genetic confounding. Are the Chinese smart because they are scholastic and disciplined or scholastic and disciplined because they are smart? Does it form a feedback loop starting with what traits fostered the most surviving offspring in turn reinforcing those characteristics and social values within the next generation? Environmental factors over time influence genetics over time after all, whatever fitness they demand is spread from there. But then those genetic characteristics affect how people select, modify, and react to their environment as well. Society is man modifying his environment, so what new pressures are unleashed? And do they reflect whatever genetic predisposition made them?
