- Covet: Eli was sitting on the couch in front of the large TV, just staring ahead as he looked around the room almost in a paranoid sort of way. Hearing the high pitched squeak he'd been hearing all night he snapped his head in the direction he thought he heard it coming from, then heard nothing again. "This is maddening...."
- Alexithymiaa: -Adam walked across the shop with a broom in his hand, pushing a small pile of dirt when he heard Eli chime in. Turning to look over at his paranoid friend, he just stared for a moment, trying to figure out what the fuck he was talking about. "Uhh... what is?"-
- Covet: "Have you not heard the squeak? I've been hearing it all night long. And it's staring to drive me crazy." Eli said to him walking back over to the couch trying to listen for it again to point it out to Adam
- Alexithymiaa: "Um..." He stopped breathing for a moment, trying to listen hard to what Eli was referring to. "No...?" He asked after a good thirty seconds of holding his breath. "Where is it coming from?"-
- Covet: "Really?" Eli asked then shook his head, "Not for sure, I just keep hearing it come from over there." He said holding his hands up to the back area of the store where the pinball games and computers were. "It's not mechanical though, like a beep. It like an animal? Maybe?" He asked. "But everytime I come over here I don't see anything or hear anything." He said walking that direction
- Alexithymiaa: "Like a cricket?" He asked him, propping the handle of his broom up against the wall and turning to follow Eli over toward the games, pausing to stand completely motionless and listen again. "I missed it. I don't know what Im looking for."-
- Covet: "No that's a chirping sound. This is more like.... a mouse? But not..." Eli said as he stepped back from the area, but got really quiet, anticipating it. The squeak sounded again and Eli looked at Adam, "It's not loud, but just loud enough and repetitive to be obnoxious."
- Alexithymiaa: -He heard it this time so he could confirm that Eli wasnt out of his fucking mind, but found the sound so insignficant he couldnt figure out how Eli had been hearing it all this time without focusing on it. "It might be a mouse. Do you want to pull the games out from the wall and check behind them?"-
- Covet: "Maybe? You'd think we'd see it darting back and forth though because the sound moves from one side to the other. But I haven't seen anything scurry across the floor, and trust me I've been watching." Eli told him then walked over to one of the pinball machines so they could pull it away from the wall.
- Alexithymiaa: -Adam followed him over to the machine to get on one side of it, tugging it away from the wall and poking his head back behind it to search the floor. "We might need a flashlight. It's a little dark in the corner, I can't really see anything."-
- Covet: Eli pulled his phone out of his pocket and turned the light on, shining it behind the machine, but didn't see anything. Then he heard the squeak behind them , "Maybe behind the other machines on the other side?" He asked Adam.
- Alexithymiaa: "Sure, let's move them." He said, his feet moving quickly because he wanted to try to catch the sound before it traveled again. He put his hands on either side of the game, wiggling and muscling it backward until there was about a foot of space behind the machine before moving to the other one to do the same. "See anything?"-
- Covet: Eli helped move the other machines on the other side, shinning his light behind them there too, but there was still nothing. "Huh... It can't be in the machine, cuase they're sealed up tight.... Hang on..." Eli said as he turned around and looked on the underside of the counter for the computers. In that moment he felt something flapping at him in the face, which caused him to scream and fall back, flailing his arms, as a little black bat started fluttering about above in the central area of the room.
- Alexithymiaa: -Adam jumped when Eli screamed, which is fucking hilarious by the way, his eyes going wide when he saw the black fluttering wings heading across the room. "Batman?" He asked with a little bit of confusion, offering a hand down to Eli. "Are you okay?"-
- Covet: Eli took Adam's hand and stood up, looking at the bat that was circling around, "I don't kow about Batman.. but definitely Bat...Yeah I'm alright, just spooked is all. Definitely wasn't expecting that at all. Course now the question is... How do we catch it and get it out?"
- AlexithymiaaAlexithymiaa : "You want to get it out?" Adam stammered, a little surprised Eli was so quick to want it gone. "And here I was thinking we make a little nest for it and let it be our shop mascot. Is there a cooler mascot than a live bat? Especially for a comic store."-
- Covet: "He's cool and all, but I'd rather not have him in the shop. If we made him a bat box for outside somewhere maybe, but he's a live animal, that's wild that could be carrying rabies, that poops... and we don't have enough protective covers for all of that." He said with a laugh.
- Alexithymiaa: "I'm surprised it even found its way inside. It's not like we leave the door open or anything." He said, his head tipped up to watch the bat fly around the ceiling. "Do we have a net? Or a blanket?"-
- Covet: "It could have gotten in when we were bringing new frieght in. Typically the office and back doors are open." Eli said. "I don't think we have a net, but we have garbage bags. It's not like we're going to keep him in the bag long, before we let him back outside." He said as he went over to the counter to grab a bag, "Maybe I can stand on a table and you can guide him to the bag with the broom? Or maybe you can get him to land on the broom?"
- Alexithymiaa: "It's worth a shot?" He asked, heading over to where he had left the broom leaning against the wall so he could head to the center of the room again. "Do you think he'll really land on it?" He asked as he turned it broom side up for more surface area, holding it up in the air toward the bat.-
- Covet: "I don't know, he might?" Eli said climbing up on the table, "Wait, maybe it might work better if we turn off the lights? Cause the bag is black so he'll think it's like a safe cave hole or something?" He said pointing to the light switch, as he held the bag open and up in the air.
- Alexithymiaa: "Right, good thinking." he said, reaching over to flip the light switches off so the shop fell into darkness. Lifting the broom up into the air again, he started to wave it as he tried to coax the bat into the bag, squinting into the darkness. "Did he fly in?"-
- Covet: "Eli watched Adam in the dim light of the safety lights and watched the bat, He saw the bat coming his direction but he wasn't sure if it'd landed in the bag or not. Then he felt something pulling on the back of his shirt, "Uh.... No... But I think it's on me...." He said a little nervously. "Quick open the front door...."
- Alexithymiaa: "On you?" He repeated unsurely, lowering the broom and walking as swiftly as he could to the doors in what little vision he had of the room. He pushed the door open and stepped outside so he could hold it open for Eli, waving him on. "Come on, before he flies off."-
- Covet: Eli jumped off the table and ran out the door and pulled his shirt over his head so that he could shake the bat out and free him into the night. Only looking a little crazy. "Okay... That went better than it could have gone..."
- Alexithymiaa: -Adam literally just stood and gawked at how fucking insane Eli looked right now, gently shaking his head. "Uhuh..." He said before looking at the other shops around them. "And we know when people dont renew their leases in this area, it's because they think patients are escaping the psych ward over here."-
- Covet: "Ha, funny, and relevant. Though I don't think our asylum is named Arkham" He said with a laugh shen shuddered as he walked back towards the door of the shop. "Well that was eventful. Thanks for your help with that. If you want to take off and finish closing up for the night."
- Alexithymiaa: -He was pleased Eli had picked up on his reference, stepping back into the shop so he could stow the broom in the closet. "Yeah, I'm pretty tired. I'm going to head home. At was nice making the bat mobile with you." He couldn't stop. He started to chuckle, heading out.-
