  1. Speaking of sound quality, you obviously know how to mix and master tracks well right?
  2.
  3. Actually I want to know what you think sounds better
  4.
  5. this
  6. https://soundcloud.com/sealfest/my-sad-attempt-at-making-deathcore
  7.
  8. or this
  9. http://puu.sh/lR54Y/5d38cfd535.wav
  10.
  11. I arguably have some know-how
  12.
  13. Gimme three minutes and I'll check fer yeah
  14.
  15. If you ever want help mixing something I'd love to offer what I can.
  16. IM GETTIGN FRUSTRRATED
  17. what in the world
  18. let me upload somewhere else
  19. https://www.mediafire.com/?uel2ilw9yfpbtdv
  20. Intro.wav
  21. MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.
  22. mediafire.com
  23.
  24. I've heard the Soundcloud one. This puush thing is loading as that so I'll keep trying but
  25.
  26. The Soundcloud one, most noticeable is the lack of bass. The guitar tone itself lacks pretty much any low end, making the kicks the source of all the bass, and kinda making everything sound super divided between a little bass, and a lot of mids
  27. Given that it's so short, and with not much focus on the drums, the guitar tone and lack of bass are all I can comment on.
  28. Also, the guitar tone has a noticeable overschlick and it makes me uncomfortable in the palm muting sections
  29.
  30. Also I know if you asked like Chris or Campbell they might tell you otherwise so don't write me out of your will if this isn't great feedback
  31.
  32. Let me listen to other
  33. I see you're on Horriblesubs and listening to Vocaloid lol
  34.
  35. I need any kind of feedback that'll help me get better at mixing
  36. But thanks for the details dude
  37.
  38. Okay I kinda forgot what the guitar tone from the soundcloud one sounded like but I know they're similar, although this Mediafire guitar tone sounds more rounded out?
  39. Let me check cuz maybe Im just WOW way off
  40. NO I WAS RIGHT FOR ONCE!
  41. Yeah the mediafire one has more low end throughout the mix. It's a bit awkward sounding, kind of like it was added on to everything, rather than everything else being taken away, you know?
  42. So guitar tone is better fosho
  43.
  44. The drums though, I preferred the mix of the Soundcloud one. The snare sounds better here, tighter and poppier, but the cymbals are kinda muffled, and the kick is really weak feeling, and sounds like it's in an unnatural frequency range.
  45.
  46. That's about what I can offer
  47.
  48. Hold a sec
  49.
  50. AND ANDREW QUIT SNOOPIN
  51. I never use my browser actually
  52. So all these tabs have been open for months maybe
  53. Except the vocaloid one
  54. I was trying to find more Kagamine Rin and Len songs
  55. Okay now one sec

  62.
  63. Here are some metal albums I've done
  64.
  65. First is like an oldschool slam album, and I spent so long on the mix. I really wanted to give it like an 80's fuzz over everything kinda
  66.
  67. Second is stupid fun deathcore with Andrew Rodriguez as vocals, if you know him
  68. The whole track was written and recorded in like 3 hours and used mostly the presets I have for my plugs
  69.
  70. The third album was the last JDE album, of which there are tons
  71. It was a split with a noise dude, but I've had a lot of people tell me that this is the best sounding album I've put out
  72.
  73. I don't know
  74.
  75. I'm not sure what the best sounding album I've ever put out is, but it sure as hell isn't a JDE album
  76. Immix Rejectamenta, by Interspersing Bone And Blood
  77. 9 track album
  78. interspersingboneandblood.bandcamp.com
  79.
  80. ACTUALLY MAYBE
  81.
  82. LIKE OLD JDE HAD THE GNAR
  83. WHEN EJ AND CAMPBELL WERE IN THE BAND
  84. But so yeah maybe these albums will help you see how I mix metal stuff more
  85.
  86. The slam stuff has my favorite mix of the three by far
  87.
  88. Made that screenshot my desktop background because it's been broken for a while with just a black screen but changing it to that worked
  89. its unpleasant andrew
  90. I really really love the guitars in your project and Lifeless Addiction
  91. Is James, James Mchenry?
  92. His snapchat name is "JamesExists"
  93. if that has a connection to anything
  94. Your vocals are amazing
  95.
  96. Ahehehe I met James after I put out this album, and he saw it on one of those russian blogs or whatever:
  97. https://jamesdoesntexist.bandcamp.com/album/the-return-to-sanity
  98. 16 year old me's attempt at something more progressive
  99. Vocals suck but guitars aint bad
  100.
  101. But yeah he found that and then learned I lived like 25 minutes from him
  102. Kind of cool as shit actually
  103.
  104. And which vocals? haha a lot of people tell me that my vocals are actually not that great, and it bums me out a lot. A lot of reviews I've gotten from people in the past usually say the vocals just sounded weird or something
  105. idk
  106.
  107. Lifeless Addiction was the band that I started when I was 12, and released an album for when I was 14. It was my 3rd release and it is no longer online, because while the songs are actually still kickass(planning on rerecording them), the production is sooooooooo trash
  108.
  109. The label Robo Robotica! somehow picked up the very first album I ever put out, by The Richter Execution, so I have to live with that floating around
  110.
  111. Otherwise I think everything I've ever made is online now
  112.
  113. Oh except SEB666
  114. No one talks about SEB666
  115. Unless you really want to, and a lot of people really do and bug me to shit about playing those songs live even though I'm over it so god damn hard
  116. The Return To Sanity, by James Doesn't Exist
  117. 5 track album
  118. jamesdoesntexist.bandcamp.com
  119.
  120. at the end of the day nothing i produce is all that great but what do you expect man i live with my parents
  121. idk how you aren't famous by now you're a musical genius
  122.
  123. When I was 12, all I could produce was more electrical bills for my parents
  124. 12:52AM
  125. What do you use for your guitar tones? I'm having trouble getting a decent tone, I'm using a pirated version of Pod Farm and some of the amps don't even work
  126. 8:52AM
  127.
  128. I got Logic express as a birthday present when I was 12 I think because I was getting really into playing bass and guitar, so I made it a challenge to myself to write a full song every day. I managed to keep it up for like half a year and I even recorded a lot of them. They were mostly lost when I got my own computer and my dad wiped my stuff from his, but they pop up in my finder from time to time as a reminder of what a little piece of cunt I used to be
  129. Then when I was 13 or 14 I met this kid named Max Richter who changed my life in that I had never hated anyone so much that it made me as violently ill as he did
  130. Like this kid
  131. Ho boy this kid
  132. But long story short, the first album I ever released was just to spite him because he kept talking shit about me and my abilities, with him "as an ACTUAL musician", so I'd shove it in his face that at the very least I was producing something and he was being trash riding dirt bikes until he crashed and ruined his chances of making it a career like he wanted to when he fucked his arms up or something
  133. There was something involving dirt bikes
  134.
  135. If I still had POD farm installed, I'd send you my old presets for it
  136. I used to mic up my Spider IV but that's a baby amp for toddlers, and it sounded much better to just use D/I, so I saved up money and bought POD farm and used that for a while
  137. With like stacking tones, it's possible to get a bit of djent out of it, although it always seemed to work better with like melodeath type tones to me
  138.
  139. Now, if I really want to get a feel to the guitars on something, I'll mic up my Peavey XXL halfstack(now blown out though) with a condenser and dynamic mic and then blend them together. That's how I got the guitar tone in the Interspersing Bone And Blood album. I dialed in more condenser than usual too I think to give the guitars like a really transparent gnarly crunch that I like a lot
  140.
  141. For D/I now, which for my grindcore/anything-i-dont-really-care-much-about stuff is mostly what I use because i'm not going to mic up my shit to record a five minute album and it sounds good sometimes:
  142. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 I think is the version
  143.
  144. I have an uncle who's always been really supportive of me making music, and for Christmas one year I received from him NI Komplete and not gonna lie it kind of changed my game
  145. My uncle was also the one who got me Logic when I was 12 or whatever
  146. I think he really likes music a lot and wishes he could play it, but he can't so he wants to live slightly vicariously through me
  147. Both him and my dad are like really kind of
  148. Calculating in a bad way
  149. Like my dad learned to play piano when I was younger because we had one and he was bored or some crap and decided to learn how to play
  150. I've only heard him play once or twice but it doesn't sound right
  151. Like he reads the music
  152. He plays it all perfectly
  153. But it's like hearing MIDI piano
  154. It's all there but it's not you know?
  155. It's kind of like an uncanny valley
  156.
  157. But yeah Guitar Rig 5 is part of NI Komplete, and when I borrowed a friends RG8 I sat down for a few days and made a couple "heavy tones" that I use as a basis for whatever I need
  158. There's still one tone I haven't tried making yet though because it's hard and im scared and that's the Rotten Sound/Magrudergrind/The Drip/every good grind band tone
  159. The sound of like nails on a chalkboard pitchshifted into a lowmid register and then infused into the most distorted amp you could imagine
  160.

  162.
  163. God i need to make this

  165.
