- - To go through the text very fast, hold the R button. Honestly, I found about this only kind of recently, so I don't do it as much as I should in the vid.
- - You name yourself A to make things faster.
- - Looking at parts of the Tutorial unlocks packs. The ones you see me choose open the Fusion, Equips, and Continuous Effects packs.
- - If there's a reason why I think this should be ran on an emulator, it's to buy cards. You need to get all 1200 cards in the game, so using save states is the easiest way to do it.
- - You see me reset a bunch to get certain cards. Here's my personal notes on what to get in each pack:
- 1. Basic 1-A: Fissure*/Trap Hole* (The asterix next to some cards means that you can find it at the top of the pack's card list)
- - Buy just 1 pack, and look for either card at the top of the list. Move on once you get one of them.
- 2. Basic 2-B: Torrential Tribute*
- - Buy 3 packs at the same time and get Torrential. Press right 3 times, so that “03” shows up in red. It might take some time; use save states. And before buying the pack, you can use arrow keys to move up and down, just so you don’t get the same cards. Or even make new save states… be patient and get the card. Patience is the one thing you want to have when buying cards.
- 3. Basic 2-A: (Premature Burial*) Snatch Steal*, Giant Trunade*, Nimble Momonga* (III), Upstart Goblin, Shining Angel (III), Mother Grizzly (II), Mystic Tomato (II) (The roman numeral is the number of copies you get of that card. You get just 1 copy of cards with no roman numerals.)
- - Spend the most DP here. Buy one pack at a time, and look closely for all the cards listed. Premature is very rare here, and most likely won’t show up, so don’t worry. Remember which cards you bought and take your time.
- 4. Equipments: Premature Burial* (United We Stand*, Mage Power*)
- - You usually have 1100 to 1280 DP by the time you buy this pack. So, you pretty much by either Mage or United We Stand and Premature Burial. Spend 3 packs here for Premature and another equip, then move on to the next pack.
- 5. Basic 1-B: Pot of Greed*
- - Using save states, buy 5 or 6 packs. Only save state and reset up to 15 times. This is really, really rare, and you probably won’t be able to get it. If you don't get Pot here, or if you got it (miraculously) and have 300+ DP left, buy 3-4 packs of Equipments and get either Mage or United. It comes in later packs.
- - In the vid you see me reset a lot in Equips; it's just for Premature, which took a while lol.
- - When you leave the shop you can just press enter to go to your PDA, then you just change some settings and edit a deck.
- - I name a few decks some select letters because you need to make different decks throughout the game. The first one I play is the Water deck, just because I'm the most comfortable with that one.
- - When editing a deck, you can use the L and R buttons to remove and add cards respectively. To scroll down the card list faster, hold B and then use the D pad.
- - You see me do this thing called Set Timing when I get to Book of Moon. If you switch the Activation setting to Manual, you can choose when certain cards can activate. Otherwise the game will ask you to activate certain cards constantly.
- - In terms of dueling, I simply try to play carefully. So if the duels go kind of slow it's not only because the deck you use is not that great, but because I think about my decisions.
- - You go against Syrus since he's the easiest person to defeat. If he's not around you face Chumley, and then the next easiest is Jaden. I don't duel Banner in the early game since it would take longer. He runs a lot of backrow and flip monsters.
- - Here's a quick list of staples you'll see everyone in the game play:
- • Monsters: None! They all run different monsters pretty much.
- • Spells: Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, Heavy Storm, Card Destruction (I hate this one!), Premature Burial, Snatch Steal.
- • Traps: 2 Magic Jammers, Seven Tools of the Bandit, Call of the Haunted, Magic Cylinder, Torrential Tribute, Mirror Force.
- - The AI will activate most cards as soon as they can. For example, if they have Call of the Haunted they'll use it on your draw phase, or if it's already set, the first monster that gets sent to their own graveyard.
- - So for instance, if they have Torrential, they'll use it the very next time you summon a monster. Knowing this, you can bait it out, or if your summon goes through fine, you know they don't have Torrential.
- - If they have multiple cards that can stop attacks (Magic Cylinder, Mirror Force, etc.) they'll use Mirror Force last. So you know that once Mirror Force is activated, they have no other card that can stop your attacks.
- - At about 15:40, you see Syrus set 2 backrow after having none the previous turn. For whatever reason, the game probably will not set Seven Tools unless you already have your own trap set on the field. So if they set two at the same time (barring it being their first turn, or them using something like Pot of Greed or Graceful Charity) one of them could very likely be Seven Tools.
- - If there's one thing that game is smart at is using Limiter Removal. It'll always use it in the Damage Step, meaning that a Negate Attack won't stop their randomly boosted machine monster. But like I said earlier, the AI will use their cards as soon as they can, so Syrus wound up using limiter on something super weak. Only Syrus, Zane, and Crowler have it.
- - For MST, The game will always target the card in your very first spell/traps zone. So if you have multiple cards you want to set, you should probably choose the one that's the least important as the first one in the spell/traps zone. I'd say around half the duelists run MST; I don't know why Syrus has such a good card and no one else in Slifer Red does lol
- - At over 17:00 in, you see me basically boost up Aqua Spirit with Mage Power and set all my spells. I don't activate Nobleman since I'm pretty sure that other set card is Seven Tools.
- - Syrus's most annoying monsters are Gyroid and Drillroid. Drillroid is glitched and will negate stuff like Mother Grizzly, so you'll see me Normal Summon Grizzly a lot. Gyroid takes 2 attacks to destroy which just makes things longer lol.
- - At the end of the first duel, you see me attack with Star Boy, and then Aqua Spirit. I do this since I'm trying to get the most DP possible, which is the money of Yugioh games. So you'll see me make certain plays at the end of games just to maximize DP. Pause at around 18:35 to see a little breakdown of how much I earned.
- - Whenever I have Mother Grizzly, my goal is to thin my deck and summon all the Grizzly's, then summon the best option to the field from my deck. I'll try to summon a Yomi Ship or Mermaid Knight usually.
- - When he has Big Core at 2800 and it's my turn, I set the 2nd Grizzly, and leave the first one in ATK. The AI will always attack your ATK position monsters first before the DEF position ones. So if he summoned something like Drillroid, the AI would attack my ATK position Grizzly first.
- - Damage Step mechanics are sort of archaic in this game, so even something like Torrential can be used if something is summoned during the Damage Step.
- - For Snatch Steal, it’s probably the most powerful card that can be played against you. If drawn, it seems to be played when your opponent can’t attack over your strongest monster. This card by itself is a big reason why you shouldn’t summon your biggest monster immediately.
- - For whatever reason, you'll see the game play cards such as Card Destruction, Pot of Greed, and Graceful Charity, in the same turn sometimes. Any two of those cards, or even all three can be played at once.
- - At around 24:30, I have both Snatch Steal and Torrential Tribute in my hand. Syrus doesn't run anything bigger than Steamroid in terms of the level fours. The AI isn't smart enough to know that Steamroid gains 500 when it attacks.
- - Since he can't summon anything that can roll over my monsters, the AI decides to only set his monsters. So the only thing I'm afraid of is Snatch Steal. So I decide to set my Torrential just in case.
- - The game likes to set Black Pendant a lot. For instance, the game will set Pendant, even if activating it would make their monster strong enough to attack over your strongest monster. It's weird like that; only Syrus and Banner use it.
- - I immediately summon Sasuke Samurai against Chumley because he has so many monsters that are annoying if attacked. I figured it was safer just to pop one automatically than attack with something else.
- - At around 33:20, I have to use Trunade there, since it's the only way Giant Red Seasnake can attack over his monster. It would gain 500 ATK if I didn't.
- - I suicide Fenrir, ensuring that he doesn't get a Draw Phase. I love Fenrir since you know they can't draw an out when it works well. But of course, the game had Graceful all along lol.
- - I used the send mail feature to give myself more duels, just so that I have more DP for Tuesday, which is the very next time you can go to the shop. When the return message starts, you can simply press there R button to make it end immediately.
- If you read all this, holy shit Thanks. I'll probably upload more soon.
