- dogwood petals
- home alone why am i wasting my time walking
- with the dog that barks too much the thought
- leaves my head the moment the
- quietude of suburban isolation settles in
- and as i walk alongside my trusted partner
- on the path a bit too humid i begin to look
- up into the trees lining the street emitting
- petals with every gust resembling snowflakes
- upon flight yet also tumble
- weeds appearing in the most unexpected places
- even behind that row of firs behind that one house
- but they're pretty and thanks to the overcast weather
- along with snowy vibes i am reminded again of
- a time when i didn't have your melodies
- in my thoughts or y o u r betrayal belying
- a grudge or yo ur reminder of my own weakness
- but also the present moment where i can
- rub my dogs neck on a friday and enjoy the freedom of
- a summer so close i can feel it on the tips of my fingers
