  28. [15:49:11] <12lpfphone> Hey booksu
  29. [15:49:47] <12lpfphone> We have to play tf2 again someday
  30. [15:51:25] <12lpfphone> Books
  31. [15:51:26] <12Books> indeed
  32. [15:51:35] <12lpfphone> You know I love your MAL avatar?
  33. [15:51:53] <12Books> forum or profile?
  34. [15:52:14] <12lpfphone> Profile (I don't know what your forum avatar is)
  35. [15:53:00] <12Books> It's Aiko from Oyasumi Punpun
  36. [15:53:56] <12&FOE-tan> He ued to have a YKK forum avatar
  37. [15:54:10] <12&FOE-tan> I'm not sure if you are still using that one booksie
  38. [15:54:16] <12Books> I did?
  39. [15:54:19] <12Books> I don't even remember
  40. [15:55:36] <12&FOE-tan> I thought it was Alpha and that other android anyway
  41. [15:56:36] <12Books> Perhaps, I change forum avatars a lot usually so it's to keep track of them all
  42. [15:57:15] <12lpfphone> It's his profile avatar
  43. [16:00:06] <12lpfphone> I love Kokone
  44. [16:00:59] <12lpfphone> And Joe Dassin
  45. [16:01:56] <12lpfphone> Yeah that was random but look him up. I'm half listening to a tv programme in which they made a joe dassin cover
  46. [16:04:25] <12lpfphone> And the most striking part of Kokone is how meeting and being enthralled by Alpha compelled her to act more human
  47. [16:05:45] <12lpfphone> As well as find out more about their nature (although it mostly amounted to the recording resonating profoundly with her)
  48. [16:07:15] <12&FOE-tan> Oh, right. I thought the profile avatar was Punpun-related for some reason
  49. [16:07:15] <12lpfphone> But the whole letter she sent Alpha was the manga's best insight into one of the characters' mind
  50. [16:08:44] <12lpfphone> Nonetheless Alpha is the richest over the course of the 14 volumes
  51. [16:09:08] <12lpfphone> I should write that in my review
  52. [16:09:20] <12lpfphone> LOL
  53. [16:09:32] <12lpfphone> I didn't even write that yet on my sheets
  54. [16:09:39] <12lpfphone> I'm a slacker all right.
  55. [16:11:56] <12lpfphone> OK I shall use this channel for rambling points about Alpha
  56. [16:12:40] <12lpfphone> First and defining aspect of hers is her immortality.
  57. [16:13:49] <12lpfphone> It is reminded that she has a lot of confidence from her immortality. She can wait as much as she can.
  58. [16:14:16] <12lpfphone> There are two sides to this gift.
  59. [16:15:42] <12lpfphone> The first is that, free of the need to sustain herself, and free of the Saddest Fact Of Life, she can run the café in a carefree way, and live an unhurried life.
  60. [16:17:14] <12lpfphone> The café is run in a warm way, Alpha offering coffees, drinking herself with the customers, but it is also said that this sweet life is only possible because she has none of the worries normal humans are subjected to.
  61. [16:17:15] <12lpfphone> Sweet-- not forced or saccharine.
  62. [16:19:10] <12lpfphone> She lives an unhurried life, able to go on a journey for a surprisingly long time and living the most relaxed life with other people-- and again that mostly stems from her immortality.
  63. [16:22:34] <12lpfphone> It was an elder, a YKK fan, who introduced this idea to me. Although YKK is also largely about acceptance of death-- humans or robots-- Alpha is completely free of what, the elder thought, bound man to vice, selfishness and hurriedness.
  64. [16:23:27] <12lpfphone> So this is the first aspect to immortality. the second is simple.
  65. [16:23:45] <12lpfphone> (my battery is dying)
  66. [16:24:44] <12lpfphone> The second is that, as an immortal, Alpha sees the world growing old dying, and she cannot grow old and die with it.
  67. [16:25:33] <12lpfphone> regularly she sees the children grow and think 'too fast, far too fast'. From early volumes.
  68. [16:25:44] <12lpfphone> Thinks*
  69. [16:27:28] <12lpfphone> I think that Alpha, in her immortality, is the supreme lens throug which to see the curtain fall on the remnants of the world.
  70. [16:27:49] <12lpfphone> G
  71. [16:27:53] <12lpfphone> through
  72. [16:29:49] <12lpfphone> Beyond that
  73. [16:30:23] <12&deviante> what
  74. [16:30:31] <12&deviante> i mean man
  75. [16:30:33] <12&deviante> i like to ramble
  76. [16:30:38] <12&deviante> but you're on a serious monologue here
  77. [16:30:42] <12lpfphone> Alpha's character is never overstated
  78. [16:31:33] <12lpfphone> Examples being her sadness when reminded that the waves would eventally catch up
  79. [16:32:49] <12lpfphone> Or the rather quiet chapters, with subtle implications in the dialogue and facial expressions, when she reunited with takahiro after ger journey
  80. [16:33:30] <12lpfphone> The chapter in which she loses the camera, I think
  81. [16:34:03] <12lpfphone> Has all sorts of narration, inner thoughts on mundane matters (i might be wronng ok)
  82. [16:34:59] <12lpfphone> But what's sure is that it has not a single bit of narration on the most crucial and emotional issue:
  83. [16:35:02] <12lpfphone> The loss of the camera.
  84. [16:36:21] <12lpfphone> That's what made Alpha the better character througout the series; ashinano likes to imply thought with every charactee, but Alpha is, naturally, the one we end up the most exposed to and end up knowing the most.
  85. [16:36:34] <12lpfphone> OK lol i have to write that in my review.
