- Patrick received his Ph.D. from University of Virginia. He is currently a Har
- ry S. Truman Postdoctoral Fellow at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque,
- NM. He will join the faculty of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Depar
- tment at University of Virginia as an Assistant Professor in October, 2011.

- | Prof. Eric Loth is a graduate from of the University of Michigan where he obt
- ained a Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering, with a dissertation on experiment
- s of multiphase supersonic turbulent flows. He earned M.S. and B.S. degrees fro
- m Pennsylvania State University and West Virginia University, also in Aerospace
- Engineering, where he conducted research in the area of aerodynamic simulations.
- In 1990, he joined the University of Illinois as an Assistant Professor in the
- Aerospace Engineering Department and rose to Associate and then Full Professor
- by 2002. In that year, he was also named a Willett Faculty Scholar of the Coll
- ege of Engineering. In 2008, he was also appointed the Associate Head of Underg
- raduate Studies. He has held visiting appointments at University of Cambridge,
- Brown University, University of California San Diego, the National Energy Techno
- logy Laboratory and the Arnold Engineering and Development Center. In January 20
- 10, he joined the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the Univer
- sity of Virginia as Associate Chair of Aerospace Engineering.

- Costin D. Untaroiu joined the University of Virginia faculty in May of 2008 a
- nd leads the computational group of the Center of Applied Biomechanics. He recei
- ved a Diploma (B.S. & M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Mechanical
- Vibrations from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (Romania), a Diploma in
- Applied Mathematics from the University of Bucharest, and a Ph.D. in Impact Biom
- echanics from the University of Virginia.

- Gavin Garner joined the University of Virginia faculty in 2009. He holds a bac
- helor\92s degree in Physics from Colby College and Master\92s and Ph.D. degrees
- from the University of Virginia in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He work
- ed as a mechanical engineer for AMF Bowling Worldwide, Inc. before beginning his
- graduate studies.
- Dr. Garner is an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (
- ASME) and was honored as an ASME graduate teaching fellow from 2007 to 2009. He
- currently serves as the faculty advisor for UVA\92s student chapter of ASME.
