  1. RP Ettiquete:
  2.
  3. Now, before we let you join Arcadia, you absolutely need to know these things:
  4.
  5. **__Godmodding.__**
  6.
  7. Godmodding is when you basically make it so your character can't be beat, period. It's almost OP, but not entirely. Your character just can't have faults, they suddenly know how to do things they wouldn't normally know and didn't before. Example:
  8.
  9. *Suddenly, when the skelebros are stranded out in the desert with only a random horse to guide them, Sans is able to communicate with the horse and tame it.* <- Godmodding
  10. What you could do instead:
  11. *The skelebros are stranded out in the desert and try to think of ways to tame the horse.*
  12.
  13. As a note, the next few points could also be considered godmodding, but these are more specific.
  14.
  15. **Powerplay:**
  16.
  17. Powerplaying is when you control a character's actions without that mun's permissions. This could be anything from mind control or something similar, or attacking without waiting for a response. Example:
  18.
  19. *Frisk pinned to Chara to the wall and stabbed them until they died.* <- Powerplay
  20. What you could do instead:
  21. *Frisk tried to pin Chara to the wall.*
  22.
  23.
  24. **Metagaming:**
  25.
  26. Metagaming is when you use knowledge you know OOC in character. This does include knowing your character knowing their AU's name, unless you have a valid explanation. Example:
  27.
  28. *Frisk sees a Storyshift!Chara.* "Oh hey, you're from Storyshift right? Nice, say hi to Papyrus for me, guy behind that purple door." <--- Metagaming
  29. *An Underfell Sans and an Underswap!Papyrus are talking. Papyrus asks what happened to Sans. He replies:* "oh yeah bro, i'm not yours, i'm from underfell." <--- Also Metagaming if no reason is provided
  30. What you could do instead:
  31. *Frisk sees a Storyshift!Chara.* "Oh hey."
  32. *An Underfell Sans and an Underswap!Papyrus are talking. Papyrus asks what happened to Sans. He replies:* "heh, don't think we're from the same place."
  33.
  34. And about Crossover AUs: If you meet an Undertoad!Mario and know he's already Mario, we get that your character might've played Super Mario Bros before. However, this *could* still be metagaming depending on your character. So, we advise against this and instead use bootlegs (ex: Duper Zario Sisters) in RP.
  35.
  36. **Overpowered, or OP.**
  37.
  38. Having an overpowered character is very frowned upon, however allowed to an extent. If your character possesses OP like powers, but has a clear weakness (ex: Hyperdeath Asriel), that's alright, but be careful about it. Your character is not allowed to control Arcadia, RESET, or anything like that under any circumstances, they are not god. And no god-like powers either, most people can't make something out of nothing. Magic uses energy, it isn't really an infinite source. Examples:
  39.
  40. *Asriel summoned his ultimate attack, Hyper Gnner. The attack would instantly kill anyone it touched, and had a strong vacuum to it.* <- OP
  41. What you could do instead:
  42. *Asriel summoned Hyper Goner, draining all his magical reserves. A large skull appears over him, and starts pulling in any living thing in the surrounding area; dealing damage to anyone it touched.*
  43.
  44. Those are some "don't"s, now here are some "do"s:
  45.
  46. **__For OOC talk:__** When you need to make an OOC comment, please remember these two things.
  47.
  48. 1) **Your style.** Generally, people will do something like: "//example", "((example))", "(example), or any variation like that to indicate they mean OOC. Some people do it in narration and that's fine, but please:
  49. 2) **Make it clear!** Make it very clear you are talking OOC. If you want to make a one off joke based on the scenario, use strikethrough at least.
  50.
  51. **__For Grammar:__** Now, we understand not everyone is fluent in English, or their mobile device has the crappiest autocorrect in the world (most do). So, we won't be too harsh on this, but please remember to use **capitals** and **punctuation** at the very least! We can't understand this: *hey You dont do that runs away *
  52.
  53. Do something like this instead: "Hey! You! Don't do that!" *As Frisk was talking, they almost got hit with the knife. Deciding it wasn't worth it, they quickly ran away.*
  54.
  55. **__USE DESCRIPTION!!__** Description is what makes an RP, you absolutely need to have it. You need to say when your character enters and leaves a room, what they're doing, what expression they're wearing, all that stuff! Obviously you don't really need a paragraph describing everything your character sees in the room (still allowed though), but we at least need the basics!
  56.
  57. **Wait for people to respond! ESPICIALLY in group RP!:** People have lives outside of RP and it can take a while for them to respond. If you feel like they may have forgotten, a ping is alright. In group RP, it's nice to wait for the other person as well unless they tell you to continue on without them. The next part goes along with this, but...
  58.
  59. **Don't be in many rooms at the same time unless it's a trait your character has (with limitations)!** I understand if you have a somewhat omnipresent character, but it's generally frowned upon. Having your character in many different rooms at the same time makes RP confusing and makes it lack any flow of time or similar. If you do have a reason for your character to have omnipresence, that's fine, but please stick to only around 3 rooms max at a time.
