     JOONHO WAS BORN and raised in Sydney, Australia to a Korean journalist and Japanese archaeologist. With doting parents and a loving older brother, he had an ideal childhood: happy and carefree. He was a well-liked kid and had many friends both in and out of school. Dohyun, his older brother, was fiercely protective over him, having wanted and begged for a younger brother. Although, his brother’s protectiveness wasn’t just because he was younger just because he was born with Asperger Syndrome, a mild form of autism. Luckily for Joonho, he’s on the high functioning end of the spectrum but that didn’t make medical bills and whatnot any easier on his parents.
     WHILE JOONHO STRUGGLED with social interaction, he was, and still is, an amazing observer. He could tell when things began to get tense between his parents, voicing his observations to his brother. It didn’t take much for either of them to figure out that he was the cause of their arguments. He was unbelievably intelligent and had no trouble in school, minus his lack of social skills which caused plenty of issues throughout the years seeing as he was unintentionally blunt and more honest than he should be. His blunt way of speaking often offended other students and even made some cry. In the end, he was the one who ended up in trouble or in a sticky situation with older students. It wasn’t uncommon that his parents were being called up to the school because he landed himself in the principal’s office.
     REALIZING THAT HOW he was was effecting those around him, Joonho began making an obvious effort to change himself. He gave proper reactions and showed emotion to things and held his tongue whenever he went to say something that upset someone. Although, his efforts were practically by his parents seeing as they were in the process of a divorce and custody battle. As it turns out, while they frequently argued over Joonho, they were actually fighting because of his mother. She’d been cheating on their father for an entire year until he found out. Eventually, the custody battle and divorce settled, an eleven-year-old Joonho going with their mother and a fifteen-year-old Dohyun going with their father, neither brother willingly being separated from each other. Since then, Joonho has held a grudge against his mother and refuses to even talk to her more than necessary.
     JOONHO’S MOTHER MOVED them both to Busan, South Korea soon after her divorce from his father. Not even a full year later, she married the very man who tore their family apart. He absolutely resented the guy and all of his kids, minus his younger stepsister who shared the same feelings on the marriage as he did. While his step-siblings didn’t exactly make much effort to get close to him, he didn’t contribute either considering he’d once again retreated into himself, only ever using his emotions when he deemed it necessary. One of the few people who coaxed emotions out of the fourteen-year-old was his baby half-brother, Yongjin, who had been born earlier that year. Never had he been so expressive since he and Dohyun were torn apart.
     AS JOONHO GREW further into his teenage years, life just seemed to get harder for him. It was already difficult for him to fit in because of his disorder and his thick Australian accent but it only worsened when he, at the age of sixteen, accidentally let it slip that he was not only attracted to girls. Revealing that he was bisexual was one of the worst decisions he’d ever made. He knew very well the lack of support he’d receive but he had to go and open his mouth anyways. Not only did he face the bullying and looks of disgust at school but he had to go home everyday only for no one to even look at him, let alone speak to him, other than Jihyo and Yongjin. He’d made sure to get in touch with and keep up with Dohyun once he got a cell phone so it was no surprise that he instantly turned to his older brother and father when shit hit the fan. Luckily for him, the two most important people in his life supported him with a second thought.
     IT’S SAFE TO say that Joonho was relieved when he finally graduated high school. He had secretly gotten a part time job and saved up the money. Thanks to that, he bought himself a used car and, when he graduated, he moved to Seoul for college and rented a small apartment nearby the campus. In the end , he sold the car since there was really no use for it seeing as everything he needed was within walking distance. After effortlessly getting his credits finished for the year, thanks to having taken summer courses his final year of high school, he went into the next year with a lot of free time. Deciding he needed a break from everything, everything being his mother trying to get in contact with him and his schoolwork, he figured a road trip with the few friends he actually had would do him some good so he could get away from the constant stress and oppression in his life.

❝WHAT CAN I DO❞

personality:
     JOONHO HAS MADE such an effort his entire life to show proper emotion and reactions to everything that now it’s almost natural, though not completely. He made a reputation for himself as being cute and friendly, kindness and optimism just oozing from every pore of his body. He always has warm smile on his face and naturally has a really welcoming and comforting aura that just attracts people to him. He strives to make the people around him happy considering he’d been deprived of happiness since his mother took custody of him. He hides his own pain and unhappiness for the sake of those around him, plastering on a smile until he’s alone. Despite his cute and sweet persona, he still manages to be adorably blunt and honest, somehow being offensive in the cutest and nicest way possible.
     JOONHO IS OFTEN finding himself in the center of attention purely because he’s just too cute. People love to tease him, though not in a malicious manner (most of the time), to get a reaction out of him, which is usually blushing cheeks and pouty lips. He never really takes offense to the teasing from his friends though he doesn’t like it when strangers try to join in and cross the line with their jokes towards him. He has an innocent and naive look about him that just prompts people to coo over him and, while he’s gotten used to the attention, he doesn’t really like unknown people touching him. It’s a habit for people to touch and coo over cute things but Joonho hates being touched if he doesn’t know the person and gives them permission. He will straight up slap away hands and won’t stop himself from voicing that he’s uncomfortable. This stems from bullying issues he faced in school. It never escalated past some pushing around but that doesn’t make him any less paranoid that someone will push him if they touch him. There’s been far too many incidents in which he ended up on the ground from being pushed.
     DON’T GET ME wrong though, Joonho can be pretty mean when he’s fed up with the attention, people, or just one particular person. When everything just gets to be too much for him, he drops his bright and bubbly facade and doesn’t filter his words. He just let’s out all of the words he usually holds back and unleashes the thoughts crowding his head. When this happens, it’s an all at once type of thing. He bursts, rants and rambles everything in his head, mean or not, before retreating to somewhere away from everyone out of embarrassment and shame to breakdown in tears. He doesn’t like losing his temper like that. It makes him feel even more out of control of himself and he always feels awful afterwards because he knows he must have hurt someone with his harsh words. He’s not good at handling his anger and sadness, usually just completely breaking down and letting all of it out at once.
     WHILE JOONHO USUALLY has a bright smile and blushing cheeks, he’s quite insecure about himself. He knows he’s different because of his disorder and he hates it. He can’t help but to think, “why me?”. What would his life had been like if he’d been normal? Would his parents still be together? Would he be genuinely happy? On top of his insecurity over his disorder, he suffers from what he likes to call chronic loneliness. He only ever had two people to rely on back at his mother’s house in Busan (he did not consider it home). Even then, one of those two people is a kid who has no clue what he goes through day after day. It’s often that he’s zoning out and getting distracted because of these thoughts, another thing that he hates since it’s one way that shows how affected he his by them. This has all made it quite hard for him to let himself make friends and he doesn’t plan on letting go of the ones that he has managed to not scare off.

He’s done so every time he’s called his dad or brother, seeing as they’re the only ones he calls, so when he began calling friends, the habit didn’t cease. Although, he doesn’t think much of it since they’re his friends and it’s okay to love them, right?
     - He really, really wants to go visit his dad and older brother back in Australia whenever he gets the money and the opportunity to do so.
     - He gets distracted pretty easily by interesting things but he always make an effort to focus on someone whenever they’re speaking to him.
     - His form of autism, Asperger Syndrome, is so mild that no one would ever guess he had it. Plus, he’s put so much effort into hiding it so people wouldn’t know and treat him differently.

     Both of these slots seem kind of “out of the loop” (?) from everyone else and are more of observant because of this. Well, observant is what Joonho needs mainly because it takes a good eye to figure out that he’s not who he makes himself out to be. He needs someone who will call him out on the pain he hides and help him come to terms with what causes him that pain. Both of these slots probably have their own reasons for being the “quieter” type and would probably understand in one way or another what he goes through.

     - They stop somewhere to walk around and see stuff and Joonho happens to see something he really wants, maybe Naruto merch or food. He forgot his wallet in the car so he resorts to begging someone for them to buy it for him.
     - It’s late at night and they’re driving and everyone is tired and just being quiet. Something prompts someone to speak up about something like “you know, i...” and it becomes a little bonding session for everyone since they all reveal a little piece about themselves in silence and darkness of the car.
     - They’re all being really loud and messing around, maybe at a motel or just in the car, and Joonho is being one of the loudest considering he really gives no thought to his volume when he’s having fun. One person just gets really frustrated at all of the noise and yells for them to shut up thought it mainly directed at Joonho, partially because he was the first one in sight and partially because he was being pretty damn loud. Well, Joonho starts crying and mumbles a little “sorry” before going to get in bed and/or just hiding himself in one of the stolen hoodies he’s likely wearing.
