Today's events

So after a lot of speculating, lots of long bits of silence and a lot of hours of driving around, I guess its time to give you guys an update on what happened exactly and where to go from here.

So the idea of today was simple, since mich's door was broken down during a burglary we needed to get him out of that place asap. All the expensive stuff had been moved a few days ago and we just needed to get the remaining stuff, get it all together and move mich from his temporary residence with a friend to his grandmother (at the litteral other side of the country, not a joke). As such, mich, me and CptObvious would meet up at mich's place (the one where the door was forced) around 11:30 and would get the rest of his stuff and move to the north. Simple, right? yeah, not quite. As we got there the downstairs neighbours (the one mich suspect forced the door to begin with) where in the hallway causing commotion. Nothing to serious, we walked by and up to mich's appartment, grabbed stuff, got it in the car and went back in for the next load. So far so good. Second round I was the first to walk downstairs and one of the ladies grabbed me by my arm. I told her to get her hands off me (not sure what my exact words where, but something along those lines) and I called mich (by this point there where 3-4 people around me). Mich, upon seeing this, grabbed the lady by her shoulder and puller her back a bit to get her off me. Her husband then walked up from behind, grabbed mich by the neck (mich's words, as that part I hadnt actually seen, though there where some marks in his neck), punched him to the floor (from here I did see it) and while mich was down kicked him in his face. I immidiatly called out to captain, we called 112 (the equavalant of 911) and had both the police and an ambulance come over.

Now here comes the tricky part of the story. We explained the story to the police, told them what happened and what we saw. Captain didnt see anything as he was upstairs and I told them what I saw (basically the story above). They then went on to talk to the other guys to get there side of the story, however upon arriving at their door one of the ladies had a black eye (I suspect by the same man that kicked mich so he'd have a story, though I cant prove that). As such it then became a story of who hit first and even though we know we didnt do anything, we cant prove that. The police, with the help of a translator, talked to them and basically they'll press charges if mich presses charges. Complecated story we cant get out of which will basically then result in nothing as there are no independant witnesses or actual evidence for either. In between and after all of that we got most of the stuff out and left for a friend of mich's (the one he had stayed with for a few days).

I got out unscathed, however for mich the result unfortunatly was a lot less fun. One of his teeth had broken and he had some pretty severe headaches. After examination from the guy from the ambulance it seemed there was no concussion and he didnt need to see a doctor, however he did have to go to the dentist. He made an appointment for us and one of the teeth was broken beyond repair and had to be pulled. Painfull story, and now its up to the insurance what happens next. After everything was finally done with we loaded in the stuff he still had at his friends place and we started driving north to get him to his grandmother.


Now, the story isnt fully done yet and there are still some pieces that will get resolved in the next few days. There is however one thing that I feel we can do as a community to help out. The problem right now is that as a result of this entire endeavor, and the fact that mich prob wont get anything out of pressing charges, mich is left with a few pretty hefty bills due to some unfortunate events outside of his control. Just to give an idea, due to him not being able to go to his appartment and properly clean up (which, lets be fair just isnt safe at this point), he would lose his security deposit (550 euro)*, potentially a month rent (550 euro)**, the pulling of the teeth itself (40 euro) as well as having to get a new one set (which, depending on what the insurance says, could be anywhere between 0 and 1300 euro)***, the cost of the stuff that was stolen (not a lot, but still), as well as potential other costs from being forced to kinda move between places for a little while untill he finds something new. As such, we decided (without mich knowing about this prior) that we'll be changing homeschooled from a completely just for fun marathon to a small fundraiser to help mich get back on his feet. I myself will be doubling up every donation (either bits or direct donations) up to 75 euro, just to do my part in helping a friend.

* The other people called the landlord basically claiming mich attacked them rather then the other way around, so this will basically result in a simulair story as with the police in that there is no way of proving mich is innocent here.
** Not sure what the contact says, but if it comes down to a month period between cancelling and actually stopping the payment, that might be a thing.
*** We didnt get a chance to call insurance, 1300 is what the dentist said it costs and mich will have to call the insurance to see if and if so, how much, they will actually cover. Likely case is that mich may have to pay a part of it, but its hard to say how much.
