  1. Hajime instantly used a mana shockwave to try and push Yue back.
  2. He knew that as long as some unknown entity was possessing her, he
  3. couldn’t afford to stay close. However, he wasn’t able to take more
  4. than a step before—
  5. “I order you in the name of Ehit... Stop moving.”
  6. “What!?”
  7. Hajime blinked in confusion as his body submitted to Yue’s
  8. command. It felt as though all his nerves had been cut off from his
  9. brain.
  10. Yue, or rather, Ehit, smiled sweetly at him.
  11. Hajime knew that smile. It wasn’t Yue’s usual smile, but he’d seen it
  12. once before. It was the same smile he’d seen on the statue of Ehit in
  13. the main cathedral, back when he’d first been summoned to Tortus.
  14. The smile was just as repulsive as he remembered.
  15. Ehit casually pulled his arm out of Hajime’s stomach... and a fountain
  16. of blood gushed from the hole. As Ehit bathed in Hajime’s blood, he
  17. brought his hand to his lips and licked it.
  18. “I see. This is the pleasure a vampire feels when drinking blood. I
  19. must say, this is quite something. I had planned to make you suffer
  20. an agonizing death, but perhaps I should keep you around for your
  21. blood instead,” Ehit said with a sneer.
  22. “Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!” Hajime screamed,
  23. squeezing out every last ounce of strength in his body. Yet more
  24. blood spilled from the gaping wound in his stomach, but he didn’t
  25. seem to care. His mana glowed bright crimson as he pushed his
  26. Overdrive spell to the limit.
  27. A second later, there was a loud snap and Hajime regained his
  28. freedom. He swiftly backed away and aimed Donner at Ehit.
  29. He knew Yue’s body was immortal, so his priority was restraining
  30. Ehit, not harming him.
  31. “Tch...”
  32. However, Hajime’s railgun-enhanced bullets failed to reach their
  33. target. Though they possessed enough force to blow through the
  34. apostles’ claymores, they stopped inches from Ehit’s face.
  35. “My my, I didn’t think you would be able to break free from my
  36. Divine Edict. I suppose I should have expected as much from an
  37. Irregular. Thunderlord’s Judgment!”
  38. -------------------
  39. “I order you in the name of Alvaheit— Stop.”
  40. Alva’s Divine Edict ate away at Kaori’s soul. Thanks to Aiko’s Soul’s
  41. Repose, Kaori didn’t lose consciousness immediately, but Yuka, Suzu,
  42. and the other students all stopped in their tracks. However, his
  43. wasn’t as strong as Ehit’s, so even Tio and Shizuku would be able to
  44. break free of their own accord, given time.
  45. Unfortunately, the apostles refused to give them even a moment to
  46. resist. They created magic circles with their feathers and rained
  47. lightning down on the trio. Tio’s scales and Kaori’s apostle body were
  48. both highly conductive, so the lightning was exceptionally effective
  49. against them.
  50. Alva also tossed Shea into the lightning storm, making doubly sure
  51. that she wouldn’t make a comeback.
  52. “I also order you— Accept your punishment.”
  53. The four of them had instinctively started emitting mana to protect
  54. themselves, but they stopped upon hearing Alva’s command,
  55. screaming as the lightning struck their unprotected flesh. By the time
  56. the storm passed, the four of them were twitching weakly, their
  57. bodies covered in burns.
  58. That was the reason Shea had lost to Alva. She could fight his Divine
  59. Edict. In fact, it only took her a second to break through it. But that
  60. second was precious time lost, and slowly but surely, Alva had been
  61. able to pile more and more damage onto her.

  64. Banter's Words:
  65. Ehit's Divine Edict is capable of completely halting magic in its tracks and controlling people entirely, but people on the level of Hajime and Yue (below) are capable of resisting it and even using it themselves.
  66. ---------------------
  67. Realizing he couldn’t win, Ehitruje finally decided to try to flee.
  68. “I order you in the name of Yue—don’t move!”
  69. “Impossible!”
  70. Yue hadn’t just been sitting around and twiddling her thumbs while
  71. waiting to be rescued after Ehitruje had taken over her body. She’d
  72. been keeping a very close eye on him, analyzing all of the spells he
  73. cast and figuring out how they worked. She was a genius mage
  74. who’d become the strongest vampire in existence by the time she
  75. was a teenager. Ehitruje’s magic may have been complex, but she’d
  76. felt him using it with her own body, so she was now able to replicate
  77. it to some extent. Though of course, casting Ehitruje’s Divine Edict
  78. cost so much mana she nearly blacked out. Still, she gritted her teeth
  79. and kept herself conscious through sheer force of will. As a result,
  80. Ehitruje was momentarily bound in place.
