“The kind of genius who can heat things up with the flick of a switch!” replied Robotnik, and with just such a motion, a fiery missile rocketed out of the egg drone directly at Sonic, who redirected the missile in a blue blur in Knuckles’ direction. But it did no good. Sonic watched the grim echidna gracefully sidestep the threat. And that left it nowhere else to go but . . .

KRA-KOOOOOOM!

The missile exploded directly at the base of the owl statue. The whole room shook. For once, everything around Sonic was a blur in a bad way. The only thing he could clearly see was the statue as it collapsed and shattered into nothing but dust. A thousand years of history gone. And it was all his fault.
