- Perceval gazed at his sword, wrapped in the demon's flame, and wondered. Then he struck the knight so fiercely that he made his head bow down to his saddle; the knight drew himself up again, enraged that he could not harm him, and struck Perceval such a terrible blow with his sword that he broke through the hauberk on his right shoulder and cut into the flesh and burned it down to the bone; but as he withdrew his sword Perceval struck him with such force that he cut off his hand and the sword with it.
