- kathy: you said one time you like mother 3 mostly for its presentation and not its gameplay
- Charybdizs: Hmmm
- Charybdizs: Let me think about that
- Charybdizs: I've since changed my mind
- Charybdizs: That was a while ago
- Charybdizs: Yeah, never mind. I do like the gameplay in that. The bosses are unique, and require a good amount of strategy to beat. I actually got to one of the bosses before I was supposed to, and had to beat it missing a party member, and being lower leveled. After a ton of tries, I finally managed to stay alive. The levels are all very unique, and each one uses a different concept. You've got things like the Chimera lab, where you have to watch your step so you don't run into the Ultimate Chimera, and then you've got things like the ocean seafloor, where you have to watch your air supply while exploring.
- Charybdizs: And then there are places like the bathrooms in Porky's tower, which is like a giant lotto with often hilarious results.
- Charybdizs: The reason I didn't really like the gameplay before, was because I like to be able to visualize the battles, and you can't really with Mother 3, since it's mostly text based during battles.
- Charybdizs: And actually, there are some really fun battles. Like the Barrier Trio, or the Hugging Bombs. Or the giant ape, for that matter.
- kathy is now Away.
- Charybdizs: Then you've got some of the hilariously overpowered, but rare enemies that are put in there just to mess with you, like the Frosted Bun that you can find lying on the ground on the snow mountain.
- Charybdizs: The game is ample fun in the gameplay alone, just like Earthbound was.
- Charybdizs: I could never understand the story in Earthbound, so I pretty much ignored it, and I still had lots of fun.
- Charybdizs: Mother 3 was more balanced, and you didn't hardly ever have to grind.
- Charybdizs: But with the story in consideration, it made the game so much more enjoyable, because it played with your emotions, through Hinawa's death, and the consequent struggles Flint goes through to find Claus. Or seeing as the villagers start succumbing to the concept of materialism that Porky carried with him from past worlds, and passed on to Fassad.
