Don't be fooled by the kindly old lady exterior: Coldlock's archivist is a sharp one. Those who know her say she's got enough smarts -- and enough ancient forbidden texts in her collection -- to do real damage if she put her mind to it. Of course, nobody would ever accuse Kana of anything particularly heinous; she'd be more like to rid the world of the Shade than anything.

Kana's collection of archived documents is known primarily by reputation. That is, folks know it to be equal parts useful and dangerous, depending on what the text and who's using it, but many of the particulars are left obscured to the general populace. Kana is a stern guardian of her collection, quick with a warning eyebrow and a sharp reprimand for anyone deemed "too handsy" with her precious documents.

With her keen mind and long-lasting memory, Kana is a walking repository of knowledge for those who come to her for advice. She's even got a knack for the healing arts -- that old first aid lecture she attended half a century ago gave her an edge on the medical competition in Coldlock. Namely, it makes her a better doctor than the good Dr. Spooky. Anyone who has ever broken a bone or caught a cold in Coldlock knows to see Kana about it if they want to survive the treatment more or less whole.
