  4.
  5. Body: Dear Mr. Wheeler --
  6.
  7. I am writing to request that the FCC demand wireless carriers and smartphone manufacturers unlock the FM chip on my smartphone so I can use it to listen to FM radio through the device.
  8.
  9. Having a feature on a device I own that I cannot use is anti-consumer. Not only could I listen to FM radio for music, and not have to pay extra data charges to my wireless carrier, but I could receive emergency alerts in real time that I could not otherwise get if I am without a nearby AM/FM radio.

  12. [IF YOU ARE NOT A VERIZON WIRELESS SUBSCRIBER, REMOVE THIS NEXT SENTENCE]
  13. I am a subscriber of Verizon Wireless, and Verizon has not allowed me to use the FM chip in my phone. I hope you will consider forcing wireless carriers and smartphone manufacturers to enable the FM chip in smartphones so we can make full utilization of the features we, as consumers, paid for on our smartphones.
  14.
  15. Thank you for your time,
